Hello, SureFire! I just wanted to let you know that, the next time you remove a "prod" deletion tag, you need to explain why you object with the deletion on the article's talk page (which you can get to by clicking "discussion" at the top of the article's page). And remember, while you can remove a "prod" deletion tag (as long as you give a reason), you can never remove an "AFD" or "Speedy-Deletion" tag. For the differences in the types of deletion tags, see here. Thanks for your contributions! If you have an questions, you can ask me on my talk page. -- P.B. Pilhet / Talk 01:43, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- Reply Hey, SureFire! Yeah, I did suggest that the article be merged (you can see on the page's history). Now that I sit and think on it for a while, it does seem silly to merge a biography with another biography. Could you give me the exact name of the page where you found that notability policy? I looked but couldn't find it.
- God bless,
P.B. Pilhet / Talk 16:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi PBP, the wiki page on "academic notability" is at [1] and item 6 states: "The person is known for being the advisor of an especially notable student." And this is truly the case for old Roscoe. Spread the wikilove. God bless, SureFire 21:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Infobox Fields
editThank you for casting your vote on the Einstein infobox. Please now go to [2] to give your opinion on how you want the individual fields modified. SuperGirl 08:12, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I just noticed you entry on my talkpage re:Einstein. Wasn't ignoring you, just haven't logged into wiki in over 2 months(!) as real life has intruded. Sorry --Desdinova 03:50, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
"See also" for Albert Einstein
editHi SureFire, it seems that most of the links you just added in the "See also" section are already in the article, which is not supposed to be the case according to Wikipedia:Guide to layout#See_also. I did not want to simply revert your edit, but you may want to prune your list to keep only the most relevant entries, before someone else removes it altogether. Cheers, Schutz 15:13, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Kate Beckinsale2.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Kate Beckinsale2.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 23:50, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Possibly unfree Image:Andrew wiles2.jpg
editChick Bowen 01:40, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Please comment at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#November 26, underneath the entry for the image. Since it's listed there it's out of my hands. Also, you'll have to leave the PUI tag until the image has been processed. Incidentally, I don't see where it says that the images on that site are public domain; you'll have to put a link to that at the PUI page as well. Thanks. Chick Bowen 04:04, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Hello. Thank you for your recent edit to Ernest Rutherford. Your edit included one or more links to the page British, which is a disambiguation page. This type of page is intended to direct users to more specific topics. Ordinarily we try to avoid creating links to disambiguation pages, since it is preferable to link directly to the specific topic relevant to the context. You can help Wikipedia by revising the links you added to British to refer directly to the most relevant topic. --Jeff3000 00:48, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Edit summaries
editWhen editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --cj | talk 19:00, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz2.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:10, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Please stop over-sizing images
editSurefire, please stop over-sizing images to 300px, as you did in the following two places:
Please leave the images at the pixel size as you found them in the article. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 03:43, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Holland Park School
editAn editor has nominated Holland Park School, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Holland Park School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Image copyright problem with Image:John_Ambrose_Fleming_(1849-1945).jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:John_Ambrose_Fleming_(1849-1945).jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. – Quadell (talk) (random) 04:45, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Alanbakerfields.gif
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Alanbakerfields.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:02, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Image:WTitterton.jpg
editI have tagged Image:WTitterton.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 15:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Need your help with Jagadish Chandra Bose
editYou may have noticed that Jagadish Chandra Bose recently had a GA review and it failed. The review comments are available at: Talk:Jagadish_Chandra_Bose#Failed_GA. I have tried to address as many concerns as I can and still working on some. But there are a few areas which need input from the earlier references that were used.
I see that you contributed significantly to this article earlier. I'd request your help to address the concerns mentioned in the GA review. Let's collaborate to make this article a Good Article. Arman (Talk) 01:37, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Marshalhalljr.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:Marshalhalljr.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use.
