Hitler and Mannerheim
editMannerheim was ethnic German, born in Finland, he spoke German in his conversations with Hitler. Mannerheim had meetings with Hitler many times before the war, in the 1930s, and during the war in the 1940s.
Adolf Hitler had decided to visit Finland on June 4, 1942, ostensibly to congratulate Mannerheim on his 75th birthday. The meeting took place at a railway siding near the airfield at Immola, in south-eastern Finland, and was arranged in secrecy.
From the airfield, Hitler, accompanied by President Ryti, was driven to where Mannerheim was waiting at a railway siding. Hitler, who was much shorter than Mannerheim, wore special high-heeled boots, and had asked his photographers to photograph him only from an angle that showed his height favourably alongside Mannerheim. After a congratulatory speech from Hitler, and following a birthday meal and conference between him, Mannerheim and other high ranking German and Finnish personnel, Hitler returned to Germany, after 5 hours in Finland. Hitler had invited Mannerheim to visit the Nazi Germany, and Mannerheim made his visit in Berlin later the same year.
During the visit an engineer of the Finnish broadcasting company YLE, Thor Damen, recorded Hitler and Mannerheim in a private conversation, something which had to be done secretly as Hitler never allowed recordings of himself off-guard. Today this is the only known recording of Hitler not speaking in an official tone. The recording captures 11 and a half minute of the two leaders in private conversation. Hitler speaks in a slightly excited, but still intellectually detached manner during this talk. His manner of speech has been compared to that which was typical of the members of the working class at that time. Its turns of phrases reflect the speaker's educational level.[1] The majority of the recording is a monologue by Hitler. In the recording, Hitler admits to having underestimated the Soviet Union's ability to conduct war. (Recording available YLE's web-archive [2]. Some English transcripts exist [3], [4])
Hitler was accompanied by Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel and several Generals of Wermacht. Finnish command received 30 German ferries for attacks on food that was delivered to Siege of Leningrad on Lake Ladoga. Finnish and German Navy made attacks against Leningrad supply route on southern Ladoga with the assistance of German and Italian naval forces.[2][3] [4] Finnish Naval Detachment K had 2,400 Navy personnel and was fighting in the Siege of Leningrad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.11.239.181 (talk) 02:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Mannerheim was ethnic German").
Krasnoye Selo
editHi, Igor! I reverted your edits correcting the status of Krasnoye Selo within St. Petersburg as I was unable to find any supporting references. The copy of the 2005 Charter of Krasnoye Selo which I have describes this entity as "муниципальное образование — город", not an okrug. If there was a change in status, you are welcome to revert me back providing you supply the appropriate citations for the status change. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:35, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Спасибо.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 02:58, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Risto Ryti
editStop making unexplained page moves that violate Wikipedia's naming conventions. See especially Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). The English Wikipedia uses "firstname lastname" format and the name that is most generally recognisable. "Risto Ryti" gets 482 hits on Google News and "Risto Heikki Ryti" gets five. Revert of your addition of Image:Храм Софии Премудрости в Замоскворечье.jpg to Zamoskvorechye_District
editI reverted addition of this image for a simple reason: the belltower stands in Yakimanka district, not Zamoskvorechye. The border between two districts goes through Balchug and Bolshaya Ordynka. Thanks to empress Catherine for drawing the line :)). NVO (talk) 11:25, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Adding links to YouTube
editIt's generally not a good idea to add links to sites such as YouTube, particularly with content that could be a copyright violation. There is no blanket ban on YouTube, and there are occasions when it's deemed to be useful to add links, but it's best to be err on the side of caution. Take a look at out external link policy]] for more details, and in particular the section on linking to user submitted video sites. Thanks. TheRetroGuy (talk) 13:26, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Really? What was the offense then? Why was it wrong? How will you edit better in the future? - I was blocked for this attack remark, but not for it was written in non-English. I promise that I won't insult other users. What about communicating in foreign languages - I wrote, because English isn't my native language and I write bad enough in English, although I can read. (But in articles, unlike on talk pages, I wrote in English.) Nevertheless, I'll try to write in English both in articles and on talk pages, although as a whole I take part in English Wikipedia only occasionally. --Stoljaroff (talk) 12:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

I see that English isn't your first language. I would recommend the standard offer in your case because you have lost the trust of the community on this project. Once that good faith is betrayed then it is difficult to recover, regardless of one's future intentions. Even if you didn't mean to write it or promising that you won't do it again isn't good enough of a reason for unblocking. Insulting others in a language other than English is far from appropriate here, and you might do it on the Russian Wikipedia. If you were angry, it's understandable as everyone has their bad days and tend to say things that they don't usually mean to say, but in this case it was evidently intentional to the other user's talk page. If you continue to waste time of volunteer administrators by refusing to acknowledge your mistake and what you can to do better it (not an accusation, but just a reminder), you will lose your rights to edit your page. Abhijay What did I do this time? 05:50, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- I am willing to consider your unblock request, but I find it difficult to assess, as the supposed "attack remark" contains a dead link. Did it previously link to something that has now been deleted, and if so what? Or is the point simply that it points to a page containing a picture of a goat? If you can clarify this I will be willing to consider your request. One more question: was that edit you link to the only reason for the indefinite block, or was there more? I will also ask the blocking administrator to comment. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:41, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think you guys are missing some details here:
- OFFER doesn't apply, at least not in the way mentioned above, the user has been blocked since 2010.
- I was able to find and translate the attack comment. The discussion leading up to it came out a bit garbled, but the actual attack comment was "Ты - старая тупая пизда! Поняла?!" which Google translate interpreted as "You - the old stupid pussy! Understand?". So promising to communicate in English is of course a nice first step, but not resorting to petty personal attacks would be even better. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:58, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- Guys, I think it would be better to bring Ezhiki up here as he is an admin who speaks fluent Russian. As you may know, Stoljaroff1987 is not a native speaker of English and has regular misunderstanding of what a person is trying to say. Abhijay What did I do this time? 00:18, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with Abhijay, however, the discussion above seems to suggest that since his editing in English was fine, he was somehow permitted to say whatever he wanted in Russian since he could get away with it ... not liking that theory (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:14, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- BWilkins, whatever the situation and theory, we cannot know what Stolyarov intended to do. Abhijay What did I do this time? 13:17, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- And to Beeblebrox, Stoljaroff actually said 'You are an old stupid pussy! Understood?!" Abhijay What did I do this time? 00:25, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
