Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, Stephenw32768/Archive 1! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)
I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 12:37, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
- I'm the exact same way. That's why I stick mainly to copyediting, welcoming new users, and reverting vandalism. Somebody's got to do the dirty work. :P Just remember that any edit you make is greatly appreciated. Ryan 17:54, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
- Thank You for the message and just so you know I used my copy of Gundam Wing Episode Zero to help me with Quatre's information since that part is also imprortant for the bio.
- Just so you know I have already covered Duo Maxwell on Gundam Wing. From 24.20.153.45
- Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage so quickly :) - File:Icons-flag-scotland.png calum 12:37, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Check out the Jesus article and edit it to keep it focused on Jesus and a biographical account of Him. Watch the Jesus page to keep it focused on Him. Thank you. Scifiintel 22:27, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Come and vote your mind
Dear Christian friend,
I saw you on the list of Christian Wikipedians and wanted to let you know about something. The other day, someone nominated 12 Christian biography entries for deletion! They include a Christian university list of people (not unlike 68 other lists like it)[1], presidents of universities, and authors of many books.
Since that time, people have been voting. Please take this message as a call to vote; not a call to vote a certain way. I respect you and your ability to come, read the entry, and make a wise decision. In other words, I’m not vote stacking or campaigning; simply letting you know something that you’d probably like to know.
By the way, my friend recently started an organization called Wiki4Christ. If you’d like to join a network of Christians with a purpose on Wikipedia, please see the site!
Below are some of the links that need attention. Thanks for your consideration.

I have no idea how to report an article... But you once revised this article back to a decent copy, can you do so again?

Prochrist tag
Hi Ryan!
Nice to meet you online! Two quick comments. First, it's nice to see another liberal Christian doing e-activism around, and i'd love to talk with you more about the liberal Christian community on Wikipedia.
I'm new to being a backboard user here, but i run a group of grassroots leaders in the Progressive Christian Movement who are interested in using new media to better coordinate the work of several hundred local groups working towards a mission of long-term social and political change.
The Long Term Change group at Social Redemption has a weekly conference call where we invite experts in technology and institution-building to come talk to us -- sometimes on a very high level, sometimes on a pretty basic how-to level (as with Wikipedia, where we're just learning what social technology could mean for us as a movement).
I've looked at your profile and work here, and it seems to me that we probably have a great deal to learn from you, and I'd like to talk more. Perhaps we can connect by email?
The second question relates to how we met. This morning I submitted my first entry for a long time (the first was the Progressive Christianity article, a loooong time ago) -- an entry for the "prochrist" tag. You've tagged my page "prochrist" for immediate deletion.
As a new user, I'm not sure how this works, and I'd like to ask your guidance. You write: "This has been done because it is an article about a certain web site, blog, forum, or other community of web users that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location."
The link I provided was our tag page at delicious. We've had a community of a dozen activists using the tag for about six months, and we have a much larger community of less social users using a tagcloud generated from the tag, housed at the SocialRedemption site. We talk about how the tagcloud works, and the signifiance of the "prochrist" tag here: http://www.socialredemption.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=243&Itemid=75 My question for you is how I assert to the wikipedia community that our community exists and indeed uses the tag as I claim they do. Any guidance would be wonderful.
Many thanks, and hope to talk more. Guldi 02:27, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Manticorps
Hi, I started the manticorps website, and I think it is clearly not nonsense as defined on the page about deletion:
1. Total nonsense - i.e. text or random characters that have no assignable meaning at all. This includes things like "asgoi;aw!@$egioih0412%!2", where random keys of the keyboard have been pressed.
2. Content that, while apparently meaningful after a fashion, is so completely and irredeemably confused that no intelligent person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever.
It is a rather silly group/encyclopedia topic. But does an organization have to be official before it can have a web page about it? If the article needs citation, our school newspaper "The Western Front" mentioned the Manticorps, and I could cite that. And the last sentence of the article can be removed. I understand if there is a different reason for removing this site, as it is not a traditional article, but it is clearly not nonesense as described above. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Db4001 (talk • contribs) 20:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
Record label naming
I see you've moved two record labels to other names. If you take time to look at most other record labels, you'll see that the naming conventions are <label name> <year>, or <label name> <country>. It doesn't need to have the format <label name> <county record label> unless there are lots of articles with similar names (disambig). A "more descriptive page title" is redundant, as the article tells you what the page is. You wouldn't move HMV to HMV (British record label), for example. Lugnuts 17:45, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion
I noticed that you tagged the page Type pf goverment in indonesia for speedy deletion with the reason "personal essay, typo'ed title". However, "personal essay, typo'ed title" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use WP:PROD if you still want the page to be deleted. Thanks!
Also, if an article is created under the wrong title, please consider moving it to the correct title rather than deleting it. Stifle (talk) 18:10, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Hello, Stephenw32768. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Fsp.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Stephenw32768/Sandbox. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 04:47, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Little context in Pssst
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Pssst, by Miremare, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Pssst is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Pssst, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Pssst itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
tarping
Dude, please refrain from flagging stuff for deletion without first at least posting your opinion on the talk page for the article and waiting to see if there's a reply. You may not have heard of the term before, and most people who have not studied church history probably won't have either, but that's where wikipedia comes in. Now you have heard of it and know what it means. Next time, have the courtesy to do a little research yourself before assuming that the other fellow hasn't. Peace. Halo (Christian rock band)
Hey Ryan, just got your message on the Halo (Christian rock band) entry, which I just posted this afternoon. It's amazing to me how quickly moderators catch errors. Anyway, there are actually loads of references in the article if you look at the back-end. For some reason, the references tag is not working, and I'm about to dissect why. So hopefully in the next few hours, everything should appear as normal. So please check back. And thanks again for the careful eye! --Wordy1 20:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
