Buses WikiProject
editI notice that you have edited lists of bus routes recently. You might be interested in helping with the new WikiProject buses, especially the proposed Bus route list guide. We are also working out when a bus route should have its own article and other issues. --NE2 15:35, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Grégory Charles
editFor what it's worth, while I personally agree with your move — and I also absolutely, flatly refuse to link to Céline Dion without an accent in it, too — I just wanted to bring to your attention the edit in which it was originally moved to the unaccented title. Bearcat (talk) 02:50, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking things out. I realize that you are just trying to help and I don't think you were being mean to me. It's just that often it better to check things and discuss before reverting. In fact, the IMDb isn't really the most reliable source; the best source for something like this is Charles' own website. Since this is how he spells his name on all of his material, I think it is a fair guess that this is how it is spelled. It makes sense too (I come from Quebec). Grégoire is spelt with an accent, but Grégory just isn't a French name. Anyway, thank you for looking into it, and for agreeing to move the article back again. --Slp1 (talk) 02:54, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
References
edit- Now, you can copy and paste my example into the article, but you really should get to work on sourcing the rest of the article. Also, if you want to use the AskMen.com page to source multiple statements, all you'll have to type now is <ref name="AskMen"/>. AniMatetalk 18:49, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Well you did the bare minimal. The reference looks fine. Now you need to source the rest of the article. --AniMatetalk 20:16, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- You don't need anymore help. Just do the same thing as you did for her birthday. You found a source (AskMen.com), I've shown you how to use the "cite web" template. Now just do the same thing for all of the other statements. Find a source stating she was the first Asian American on The Price Is Right. Find a source for her magazine appearances. Find a source for her movie appearances. Find a source for her motorcycle. Find a source for comic strip...etc, etc, etc. AniMatetalk 20:37, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
How you should've handled this problem
edit- - Asked the IP where they were getting their information from - it's entirely possible they had found a source stating 1981
- - Found a RELIABLE source for the 1979 figure (IMDB doesn't cut it!)
- - Reinserted the 1979 date cited to the reliable source and notified the IP you'd done this, why you'd done so and inviting them to check the source
- - If the IP persisted in changing the year without explanation/source/discussion reported him to WP:AIV for admin assistance.
Your moves of stations to use incorrect dashes
editJust because the organizations do not use the dashes does not mean that Wikipedia should not use incorrect typography. We use dashes in titles where correct irregardless of what websites do; for example see Herbig–Haro object, a featured article. Please revert your moves. Dabomb87 (talk) 20:21, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- See also the station names at List of Santa Clara VTA Light Rail stations, List of Bay Area Rapid Transit stations, List of Washington Metro stations etc. Dabomb87 (talk) 20:27, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not a problem, thanks for your understanding. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:23, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:48, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Steam5, I started the above article yesterday. Would you mind auditing the wikilinks to the various designated places to avoid redirects (just as you did at List of census agglomerations in Quebec and List of population centres in Quebec), and resolve any redlinked designated places that may have articles at other titles? Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 02:18, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking a look. I've completed the straight French to English translations, and will ask Bearcat to confirm the translations and check for redirects on this as well as the other provincial designated places lists created. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 02:03, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
I posted to its talk page about why many if not most of the items in the list are problematic and should probably not be wikilinked. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 19:25, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Highways
editJust for the record, a highway that passes through multiple municipalities does not belong in the eponymous category for every individual municipality that it happens to pass through. If the municipality has a dedicated "Transport in City" subcategory, then a highway can be added to that (although even then it's an open question as to whether there's any actual value in that), but the highway doesn't belong directly in the main "City" category for any city that doesn't have a transport subcat — especially if it's a highway that's 2,000 miles long and could thus need to be added to 50 or 100 such categories. Wikipedia has rules about "category bloat", by which we avoid obsessively subcategorizing things on minor distinctions (e.g. subdividing MPs by every individual session of Parliament that they sat in, major provincial highways by every individual city or town that they happen to pass through, etc.) that could lead to articles sitting in dozens of too-narrowly-distinguished or mostly-overlapping categories simultaneously. Splitting of Category:Ice hockey people from Ontario
editHaving closed Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2014 August 12#Category:Ice hockey people from Detroit, and implemented the closure, I started to get worried about the size of Category:Ice hockey people from Ontario - currently almost at 1,200. A currently open discussion, Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2014 August 13#Category:Ice hockey people from Markham, Ontario, proposes upmerging more articles there. Being that you participated in one or both of these discussions, you may be interested in a related discussion at Category talk:Ice hockey people from Ontario#Splitting of this category. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:37, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Wikilinks for notable sources
editThat's very fragile, you trust that the first use of this source with a Wikilink stays, that folks interested in the notability of the source find the wikilinked first use in the references, and that they don't consider "no wikilink" in the reference popup as "not very good". The four characters for a wikilink in all references for a given source, or similar the authorlink=… in all references for a given author, don't hurt. –84.46.53.251 (talk) 03:04, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
