WelcomeWelcome... Hello, Solarra, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place GreaserI've reverted your edit on the Greaser disambiguation page because if you read the article that Greaser (derogatory) points you to, you'll see that the article does refer to it as a derogatory term for Mexicans and is referenced. I'm not saying it's correct but the disambiguation must accurately reflect the page it links to. NtheP (talk) 19:55, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

If you have a few moments...I've been trying for a while to find additional information to bolster the article on Chikaraishi (it's become something of a pet project of mine, despite being basically about some rather uninspiring rocks). However, I'm severely hampered by my limited (read: all but non-existent) comprehension of Japanese, asince the majority of sources are liable to be in that language. I note that you're a native speaker, and I wondered if you might be willing to lend a hand in locating further sources and information. The article is currently up for GA review, so anything that can be done to improve it would be greatly appreciated. Domo arigato! Yunshui 雲水 12:54, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Your reason was that it should be discussed first on the Talk:Macrochelodina_kuchlingi page. Please note this was done, also the name already has been redirected under another name Chelodina kuchlingi I was just completing this process. The species was synonymised with Chelodina rugosa in 2010, reiterated in 2011. Note that the species is listed as a synonym of Chelodina rugosa in the taxobox. I do believe this revert was unwarranted and we have more than demonstrated that this page should not exist. Cheers, Faendalimas talk 00:18, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Your warningI did give an explanation in the summary on why I removed the content from Moose Murders here. That whole section was not notable, for one of the links didn't work. And went on to talk about some non-notable conceptual artist where the text said it was published in "articles in major newspapers", but when you click on the links, it is the same article linked to in the first section, and the Spanish site is repeating the same on its site from that article in the NYT. 74.83.35.137 (talk) 22:35, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Check out wp:3RR. Real vandalism can be reverted more than 3 times WP:NOT3RR. (Note that abortion related articles have a 1RR limit) Though some admins seem to hate the constant reverts. Article edits — Mischa MaiskyHi Solarra - I recently made major edits to the article Mischa Maisky and since then, you have reverted them. Your revert on Hungarian Working People's PartyI think that 190.22.192.169 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) was just tittying up some of his earlier work. With huggle, I look at the user who did the previous edit as well as the current edit. If they are the same editor, I will open the article in a browser to see what is going on. In this case, 190.22.192.169 added an info box leaving an edit summary then remove part of that box with the subsequent edit. I see that you do a large amount of work with Huggle and Igloo. Thanks for your useful contributions. However, I am somewhat concerned by the number of inappropriate reversions and warnings you make with these tools. You are clearly acting in perfectly good faith, and sometimes you have quickly realised your mistake quickly and reverted it (though not always). However, these tools need considerable care. Except in cases of extreme and blatant vandalism, you need to check carefully before pressing the button. Personally, when using Huggle, I always keep a browser window open, so that in any case where there may be any doubt at all I can check the relevant history there before returning to Huggle. This slows me down considerably, but that is a cost that needs to be paid for the benefit of making sure I get it right. As you probably know, rollback rights can be removed from a user who persistently misuses them, whether intentionally or not, and I sincerely hope that will not happen to you, as you use them to do a significant amount of useful work, so I suggest thinking about this and being very careful. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:06, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Your reverts of edits by GinGin-1995Hi, I could wrong, but these edits (for example this one) do not look like vandalism to me. The editor seems to have doing apparently constructive work over a long period. I'm no expert on the article topic, and it's possible that reversion was correct, but the vandalism warnings (levels 1 to 3 in about half an hour) seem particularly harsh and likely to discourage someone of whom we should be assuming good faith. Regards, Mcewan (talk) 11:32, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Update of EmuellidaeHello, This is to inform you that I intend to update the articles on Emuellidae, Emuella and Balcoracania, and redirect the species articles to the genera. I also want to turn the usefull references into in-line citations. It strikes me that most current references are not particularly usefull, since they are general sources pertaining to the combination of Australia and trilobite. I will remove Holyoakia from the genera under the Emuellidae, following recent literature, but will discuss the taxonomic history of teh Emuellidae and mention this genusis moved to the Dorypygidae (which I also have to create). I appreciate feed-back. Kind regards, Dwergenpaartje (talk) 14:34, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
NicknamesWould you please tell me what is defined as a source for nicknames? Such a thing by definition can not exist. An editorial by an AP writer can not, and should not, be considered a source simply because the writer writes the name in print. It is not uncommon for a writer to label an athlete with a positive or derogatory nickname never used before based on recent actions or performances. Based on that rationale, it would be okay to include a once used derogatory nickname that was included in an AP article. On the flip side, a common knowledge nickname may be disqualified from inclusion based on the lack of a "source." This logic does not yield accurate wiki information. The subject on nicknames needs to be better defined because inconsistent treatment is given to different wiki pages.--Jmurdock21 (talk) 02:36, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

If you have any doubts, and any confusion regarding vandalism, please poke me and I'll be at your service :-). AhmadiyyaDear Solarra, By wikipedia definition this is not vandalism. It is direct quotation from Ahmadiyyah.org. It is entirely relevant to the title of the movement as it is the major difference between Muslims and Ahmadiyya. I do not think that ganging up on a new user is either meritorious or respectful of the lofty aims of wikipedia. I do not believe either yourself or the other user who edited the text is a scholar of comparitive religion. I am currently studying in this field and I am confident that this is a reputable quotation. Talk page archivingHi, I noticed that you have been using the 'move' method of archiving your user talk page. Of course, you are free to continue to use this method, but it has some unfortunate downsides. Did you know there is a bot that will automatically archive your talk page messages, at an interval of your choosing, without splitting the page history? You can find out more at User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo. If you would like to give it a go, but need some more help just let me know. Pol430 talk to me 14:50, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Anti-vandalismHi Solarra, I've noticed you out-and-about today fighting vandalism — this is good, we need all the help we can get to keep Wikipedia tidy. However, I can see from your talk page and recent edits that you may be getting a little over-zealous in your efforts to clean the place up. There are a number of events in your edit history that are giving me cause for concern — to pick a few examples:
I could go on, but the above suffices to show that you may be getting a little carried away with this work. I seem to recall seeing you signed up at the Counter-Vandalism academy recently — who did you end up with as an instructor? It may be worth holding off on doing any more reverts until you've had a chat with them. I hope this isn't discouraging; it isn't meant as such. I'd just hate to see a promising patroller getting into trouble for performing too many ill-advised reverts; people get their tools taken away for that sort of thing. If, per your userpage, you want to run for administrator rights one day, you'll need to do some work on identifying vandalism - WP:VANDAL is important, but so is WP:AGF... External Link to "Ankle Biter" Essay in Tsutomu Shimomura ArticleSolarra, I am Wikipedia user MichaelCrawford, but I've been editing without logging in lately because I am having some email trouble that prevents me from resetting my password. I'll get my password reset before too long, and will of course always log in after that. I apologize if you misunderstood my intentions when I linked to [my essay about Tsutomu Shimomura] at [Solving the Software Problem]. My Edit Summary did specifically say to see the Talk Page, but you reverted my edit less than three or four MINUTES after I submitted it, long before I had the opportunity to post anything at all on the Talk Page. How about using the article's Talk Page for its intended purpose, by allowing those editors with an interest in the article to discuss it among ourselves? I intended to post the Talk Page my reasoning for linking my essay, as well as specifically identify myself as MichaelCrawford, as I have been doing with each of the edits I've been making since I've been unable to log in to my account here. That link was not in any way any manner of vandalism! Tsutomu and I were very, very close friends for many years. Both of us being Physics Majors in the Caltech Ricketts House Class of 1986, we were frequent study partners as well. I have no doubt whatsoever that I personally know Tsutomu far better than any other Wikipedia editor, and so can more insightfully convey to the reader what Tsutomu is really like as a human being. I've been reading all the online and dead-tree press about him for years, but other than Bruce Sterling's quote about Tsutomu testifying before Congress in sandals and cut-off shorts, I've never seen any written material anywhere that describes the Tsutomu that I know. To quote from my essay:
I will have you know: TSUTOMU IS JUST LIKE THAT! The Mind Simply Reels. After I save this post to your talk page, I'll post it also at Talk:Tsutomu Shimomura, then I'm going to revert your reversion of my link so as to put it back in. If you have a problem with that, rather than dive-bombing my edits withing minutes of my submtting them, how about allowing the Talk:Tsutomu Shimomura page to serve its intended purpose, by allowing all who are interested in Tsutomu's article to discuss it among ourselves? Good Day. MichaelCrawford 50.131.200.103 (talk) 14:11, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Declined speedy deletionJust a note to let you know that I declined your speedy deletion tagging of Cassette (film). WP:CSD#A7 only applies to people, animals, organizations, and web content without an assertion of importance. Films don't fall under those categories. Now, it is possible that you were tagging it under the grounds of web content, since, as far as I can tell, the film has only been released online, but the way it was written, I felt it was too borderline for speedy deletion. However, since I don't think the film meets our notability requirements, I did prod the article for deletion. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:24, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

However, the research presented in the article (further below) already illustrates the point that all those mechanisms don't explain why one hair from the same individual would grow in one site after putting it in there while others from the same individual don't.
