Suggestions from SuggestBot

edit

Hi, I noticed you requested some suggestions from SuggestBot. Unfortunately, since you have not edited any articles, SuggestBot cannot determine what your interests are. There are a couple of ways you can tell it what you're interested in. You can specify articles or categories in the template, as described here. Or, you can go to the Teahouse's SuggestBot page and follow the instructions. Then SuggestBot should stop by with some suggestions for articles you can edit. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help you out! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 00:56, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Women in Red/The World Contest

edit

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck! (pasting Dr Blofeld's comment from my talkpage to your talkpage) Adityavagarwal (talk) 15:15, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sir, please guide me more on editing Wikipedia. I am waiting for your suggestion. Kindly remove the tag that you had placed on my account. And I promise you that I will create a new page as per Wikipedia policies. As I am a new user I wish you may know my problems.

Hey Ajju Singh Rana, as I can see from user talk:Ajju Singh Rana, the userpage was requested for deletion which lead us to further processing, done according to the deletion policy used. Tags are important to notify other editors/users about the purpose they are placed there. It is not recommended to remove them without proper approach.
As already mentioned on your talk page, it'd be better if you start your editing journey from WP:Tutorial and WP:The Wikipedia Adventure.

CSD G1

edit

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that your addition of a G1 template to User:Koosgreeff/sandbox was improper, mainly due to the fact that G1 does not apply to the userspace. Hope this helps...

TJH2018talk 18:34, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey TJH2018, thanks for letting me know about it. I missed out that line while reading about G1, I guess. Though that puts me in a confusion about what to use for such cases, as I used G1, mainly, for gibberish text and I think I haven't read any way to deal with it yet. Thanks! Simranpreet singh (talk) 17:01, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'd recommend putting it through translate.google.com and seeing if you find anything promotional in it. If a userpage is that long, it's usually some sort of promotional text. Always double-check before you CSD it...TJH2018talk 17:18, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Isn't garbage text (as, I think, content written in any other language than English is of no use to English Wikipedia) enough to charge the page under a deletion policy? What useful can converting the content to English would become, if no one, familiar to language, would be able to understand it? Pinging TJH2018. :) Simranpreet singh (talk) 06:06, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bersin Edit

Hello,

Why did you revert the edits I made to Alan Bersin's biography. All of the content I added was accurate, and in fact far more accurate than the old page. Further, I provided extensive sourcing to news article and reputable sources. Please let me know what the issue is, but the content was all accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.171.155.34 (talk) 20:45, 18 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sir, my follow up to your response remains unanswered. The Alan Bersin biography you reverted the page to contains numerous inaccuracies and is incomplete. Rollback granted

edit

Hi Simranpreet singh. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 00:57, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

edit

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Packet-switching node

Regarding your speedy deletion tag on packet-switching node: please be aware that there is no copyvio regarding US government documents; they are in the public domain. Please be careful with your tagging. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:38, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Anachronist: Apologies for my lack of observation. I barely knew there are government pages in public domain (never researched about this thing before). If I may ask, is there a way to find the copyright of a particular website, I am curious to read about it more. Thanks! Simranpreet singh (talk) 06:15, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Any material that is produced by the US government isn't subject to copyright. So anything you find on a .gov site will be OK to reproduce. Exceptions would be if the government itself reproduces copyrighted material with permission of the copyright holder. Wikipedia Asian Month 2018

Hey Simranpreet singh,

My name is Yu Lun, and I’m from the Wikipedia Asian Month International Team. It’s a great pleasure to meet you and see the effort you have put into the previous edition of WAM. Thank you! On a side note, have you received your postcard? If you have yet to receive the postcard, I can help you to check our records.

We are currently preparing the 2018 edition of the Wikipedia Asian Month and would like to check with you if you are still willing to organize the WAM on the English Wikipedia? On behalf of the WAM team, I will be the liaison to English Wikipedia this year. So if you have any questions, requests or ideas, feel free to contact me directly.

Meanwhile, as a WAM organizer, we will put you on this mailing list (https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wam-announce) that is exclusively for organizers only. We will keep emails from that list to a minimal. But feel free to let us know if you wish to not be subscribed. Here is a survey we would like you to fill in (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfxUiT2RILnuOr3eacXzYwCgda6s2IcgRqSQZdYPy_GadWHxg/viewform?usp=sf_link).
