Removing lumbantoruan story

edit

hi, could you explain you blanked out lumbantoruan story? I wonder why you didn't discuss it first with the person who wrote it up? Or make an effort to revise the story more correctly, rather than blanking the article? There are reference to Lumbantoruan diving action on top of Guillermo Colman, including Colman's own account in his blog. I just hope that it is not because Lumbantoruan is not american and that his effort to protect his friend is not important because he's not american. Also please explain why the ref put there is messing up the ref section? To my opinion the reference section is okay even with lumbantoruan's story reference. Thanks for your response.
1. It's my understanding that blog postings alone do not meet WP verifiability standards. Agree, at first i was hesitant to include blog, but this blog belongs to Guillermo Colman himself, which is the first hand account of the shooting in the Hydrology Classroom.
2. the Indonesion article is not in English, so it is not helpful in verifying the details for English readers. True, but as reference i think it should stay there and let people check with indonesian translator if they're interested in finding out more. Besides, the news source is an esteemed source in Indonesian media circle, and the account was quoted from Indonesian embassy official statement in Washington DC.
3. the English news article referenced does not contain the same details Could you care to elaborate this in greater detail? The english articles all contain a tiny paragraph outlining the detail that an indonesian student jumped/dove on top of guillermo colman, saving colman as the consequence. I have to admit that the articles are not dedicated to solely to Colman's account, but more illustrating the overall shooting episode, and Colman/Lumbantoruan's account is only a small portion of those illustrations. Nevertheless, although in many of the english news article does not make any mention of Lumbantoruan per se, but Lumbantoruan is the only indonesian student victim, sitting behind Colman. Please do elaborate why the english news article does not contain the same detail. thanks.

Thanks for highlighting the discussion on talk page. I have tried to rationalize the inclusion of blog entry there. Thanks again. Chaerani 21:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The details of the injured at VTech are NOT original research

edit
Whisper, I'm afraid this may stray into original research. See this Associated Press article from today, which says, "Most of the 25 people hurt in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history are healing in private, declining or ignoring interview requests." Sfmammamia 22:18, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sfmammamia, the sources are right in front of you. Maybe what you stated is true for some people, or, originally true. But now newspapers ran stories about various survivors. The LA Times, Washington Post, etc. all name names and name injuries. WhisperToMe 01:00, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

For example: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/21/AR2007042101219.html - That should be enough to sink that argument. EDIT: Hmm, it's the same article used for your argument. Oh well, there's always: http://www.roanoke.com/vtvictims/wb/wb/xp-113878 WhisperToMe 01:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, the people who are not speaking probably do not have their names listed. WhisperToMe 01:25, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I intend to create a partial, incomplete list of known injured people. I wish to eventually strive towards completion, but acknowledge its lack of completion at the moment. WhisperToMe 06:37, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
