Mantaro Muscle

edit

"(cur) (last) 08:05, 19 July 2006 Seigi Choujin (Talk | contribs | block) m (moved Mantaro Muscle to Mantaro Kinniku: Though "Kinniku" is in fact Japanese for "Muscle", there is already a character in this series with the English word "Muscle" a family name.)"

There's one problem. All of the English versions of Ultimate Muscle change it to "Muscle" - The manga uses "Mantaro Muscle" with Kid Muscle as a nickname. WhisperToMe 18:08, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Let's look at this for a moment -

" see where you are coming from, but I still disagree with the change. I've read through other people's complaints to you about similar stuff and I agree with you on a few and disagree with you on others. You see, though this is the English Wikipedia, some anime characters and shows are listed by their true names and titles while their corny English names are listed once in perenthesis like you have done with the Japanese names on Mantarou's page. Sailor Moon is famously known more over here for their stupid English names, yet if I'm not mistaken, the character's personal pages list them by their true names. And if one of you're concerns is people who don't know the original names trying to link a page to the charcter's page with their corny English name, well there's still Redirecting, isn't there? In actuallity, it is all only a matter of opinion which is more appropriate for Wikipedia to list them by. And when things are only a matter of opinion, is it not logical to go for the opinion that's at least a fact? Fact: Kinnikuman Nisei is from Japan Fact: In Japan, the hero is named Kinniku Mantarou Opinion: Mantarou Muscle is the better choice to list him by because blah, blah, blah... Like I've said, there is already a character (Harabote) in the series with the family name Muscle, so not only is calling him Kinniku at least a fact but it also creates less confusion for people who aren't that familiar with the series and might think the characters are related. Again, this is all a matter of opinion. I believe in staying true to what anything from another country originally was, you apparentlly believe in making things easier for english speaking audiences to relate to. Though I will stand firmly by my belief, I won't change the name back until I have your okay. And if I never change your mind about it, can we at least keep the characters from the first series (even those who play important roles in the sequal) by their real names? Thank you...--Seigi Choujin 07:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC) "

"Fact: Kinnikuman Nisei is from Japan Fact: In Japan, the hero is named Kinniku Mantarou "

Fact: Pokemon is from Japan Fact: In Japan, the series is called Pocket Monsters Fact: EN uses "Pokemon"

See how the argument is flawed? :)

"Muscle, so not only is calling him Kinniku at least a fact but it also creates less confusion for people who aren't that familiar with the series and might think the characters are related."

That is easy to rectify. Just throw in a note saying "Even though the character has the name "Muscle", he is not related to the "Muscle" family."

I am leaving alone Kinnikuman since there is no manga translation of that series.

The original names are in parenthenses and are extensively noted. Also, VIZ uses the original names of SOME of the characters (E.G. while Rinko is changed to Roxanne, Keiko and I think Tamaki stay the same) WhisperToMe 07:43, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Seigi Choujin, Thanks for the great job you're doing on the Kinnikuman-related articles. You are personally making this an excellent resource for those of us in America whom are ignorant of the 'lost storyline' of some of our childhood toys, and the history of "Ultimate Muscle." Since I don't think you are a member of the American Kinnikuman Information Archive, I'd like to ask you to come to the boards. You have a knowledge that rivals the top people in the english speaking community, and from the amount of time you're on Wikipedia, you would probably have a big presence on the board. I would have e-mailed this to you, but you do not have your e-mail listed. TheOrgg

Hey

edit

Hey, fellow Choujin! *Salutes* Rufus van helsing 23:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I'm kinda new to Wikipedia (I've been editing for only about a week) but I'm trying to contribute as much as I can. I've been reading the "Ultimate Muscle" mangas, so I will update according to the information I find there. If anyone wants to edit it, that's fine, but I will be checking the information. If anyone's noticed the Ricardo page, I started that and will be editing it for a while (I haven't quite read that far, I need to get volume 15 now). He's my favorite character, by the way. I was going to add a Bone Cold and Dead Signal page, but I might not since they have only appeared briefly. I hope for Destruction to turn up again as well (though that seems unlikely). Last but not least, I noticed on the Akuma Choujin page it lists MAXman and Tel Tel Boy, which I have a problem with. They were clearly in good with most of the dMp (including Kirinman and Shimao), whereas The Nightmares and Sunshine were hated. I know MAXman is Sneagator's grandson and all, but he seems to have no other ties to the Akuma Choujin. More importantly, that would mean that Kevin Mask was one and you know Satan wouldn't let him just quit if he was. Anyway, that's my introduction. If anyone could post some pics of the Demon Seed characters, by the way, I would really like to see them.

Kinnikufan 23:05, 23 August 2007

I went ahead and started a Bone Cold section (you've probably already noticed). I will probably go around in the near future and start putting in manga appearances for characters without them and start going through storylines, character descriptions, and attack descriptions. Thanks in advanced for the Demon Seed character pics. I really look forward to seeing the Tattooman, the Constellation, and Gepparland.

Kinnikuman Techniques

edit

Sorry for all that but I have some questions cause I have never seen the manga. Is Suguru's arm grab then spinning and slam+grab and roll+Kinniku Buster Combo and Mantarou's bounce on stomach+neck snap from behind+face down fall Combo Specials form Muscle Grand Prix Max from the manga (BTW, what are the names of the attacks) and Warsman's Palo Special The End from the manga too and Black Hole's Shadow Replacation (he really said Kage Bunshin) and Jade's Beefcake Hammer and Checkmate's torso disconnecting attacks. I'll wait for you. SoundPound500000 December 12, 2006 4:56 p.m.

I didn't play the game, I never played Japanese games before. I saw it as a video from AmuroGabe on YouTube (I even have them in favorites), I recommend watching it if you whant information on the game, such as it's promotional video and "SOME" of the characters' specials (Fuu Rin Ka Zan was incomplete and he forgot to add the Ashura Buster to Kinniku Driver revearsal on Suguru's video and added it to Ashuraman's).

Kinnikuman: Nisei

edit

Hey, thanks for checking out my pages for Kinnikuman: Nisei. If you feel you need to change anything on those character pages, or add anything new, you can if you want. I don't know the storyline of the Demon Seed or the Choujin Tag arc. If you do know any good info on those two arcs, please tell me. I still need to add more pictures and stuff to them. But thanks for appreciating the time I spent making those pages. RandomRichard

Storylines

edit

Thanks for adding more to the character's storylines. I haven't seen the show past the Chojin Olympics (I've only read a few mangas and seen the anime), and so I've been wondering what Gazelle and Seiuchin would be doing during those later arcs (even though Gazelle doesn't do too much anyway). But thanks for the help, I appreciate it. It sucks that Gazelle isn't getting anywhere, but at least Seiuchi is doing some cool (yet brutal) fights. RandomRichard

In response to your last message: In the anime of Kinnikuman: Nisei, i've seen it all the way through. So yes, I have seen all of the Chojin tournament, I just haven't added it to any of the character's storylines yet because I decided just to have the storylines go up to the Poison Six Pack for now (since that's where the anime first ended in Japan, from what I've heard), and then start the other character pages and do all their stuff when I have the time. But I am planning on adding more to the Chojin Olympics part in the characters' storylines eventually. Yes, I was also thinking of making pages for the other characters that you mentioned, but If you want to start making them, I'm cool with that. I think it's fun how we're all working together with these pages. Thanks for asking me the questions. If you need to ask any more, go right ahead.^^ RandomRichard

I like how you did the win/loss records for the characters, but shouldn't the opponents that they went against during the Chojin Preliminaries be added as well? Such as the Rock Paper Scissors part and the foot races?

Alright cool! I'll update Ilioukhine's page when I can. Hopefully i can find some pics as well.

In response to the question about making pages for the characters that didn't make it far in the Choujin Olympics: It's kinda difficult when they have little to no information (aside from a name and country, but sometimes not even that). Case-in-point: There is a choujin that appears at the end of the Rock-Paper-Scissors prelim and at the end of the Three Legged Race with no name, country, or even speaking parts. He has musical stuff on his mask and the crotch of his ring attire, but no information aside from that. So not every character can really have a page. Kinnikufan 23:52, 23 August 2007

Alexandria Meat

edit

In Kinnikuman Nisei, a chart shows that Meat's sisters also have names beginning with Alexandria. (I can make a scan, if you want.) Apparently it's a surname-- if so, shouldn't we rename the article "Meat Alexandria" like the "Suguru Kinniku"? I'd also like to move Mantaro Muscle to Mantaro Kinniku, but will probably will be reverted if I do. That name was used on Fox Kids' site IIRC, as Kid Muscle's "Real name". Keep up the good work. I was thinking of the characters section to be a good place, but I'm not very sure. ---RandomRichard

Thanks for uploading Image:Aono_Takeshi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

The reason why Evan moved it is because he felt that the name should be treated like a "Japanese name" and have the order switched to conform to the MOS (i.e. how Abe Shinzo is Shinzo Abe in English) - But I am not sure if Meat's name should be treated like a "Japanese name" or if it should be kept in its naming order.

The names of the Kinniku family are treated like "Japanese name"s - i.e. Kinniku Suguru -> Suguru Kinniku. WhisperToMe 15:51, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Hori_Yukitoshi.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:27, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Nakajima Chisato.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Nakajima Chisato.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:39, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Totani_Kouji.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Totani_Kouji.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Thanks for uploading Image:Beastly Seiuchin.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Arihiro Fujimura

edit

A tag has been placed on Arihiro Fujimura requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:10, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU

edit

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:15, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. joe deckertalk to me 17:51, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited GeGeGe no Kitarō, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kenichi Ogata. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
