Thank you and sincere apologies if I inadvertently caused an error in the page edit - it was an honest error, not a deliberate excision. As a Sandhu on the distaff side I was very interested and sought to contribute some positive information, linguistic and grammatical edits. The grammar and use of language on the page is very poor currently.

I moved Aminatta Forna per your request. Please note, if you try to search for it using the search option, it always takes some time, a few hours to a day, for it to show up in search.--SPhilbrickT 20:19, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Royal African Company into Robert Aske (merchant). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. February 2023

edit

Hello, I'm Belbury. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Museum of the Home seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Wikipedia should not talk of something "reaffirming the Museum's place in the capital's cultural and fashion scene", and similar statements, in its own voice. Belbury (talk) 17:10, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, SanjitChudha. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Museum of the Home, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You're adding a lot of promotionally-tinged descriptions of new exhibitions and what the museum director has said this week. If you are updating this article as part of your job at the museum, you must declare this. Belbury (talk) 13:14, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I do work at Museum of the Home; No, the edits were not unreferenced, nor promotional. The edits were a factual record of a historic acquisition by Museum of the Home working in collaboration with Tate which is also of itself an association of note. This strikes me as an odd intervention which takes no account of facts related to the acquisition which I see you have removed. I have contributed to Wikipedia over many years and across many subjects. If your intention is to create a space which is hostile to a diversity of interests and from people with diverse backgrounds then you're doing a grand job. Please reinstate the previous edits - they are not contentious in any way. If the quote bothered you, then reinstate the previous edits without the quote. SanjitChudha (talk) 07:58, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Edits such as your addition of In 2022, the Museum's Festival of Sleep and Winter Festival attracted ever larger audiences, reaffirming the Museum's place in the capital's cultural and fashion scene, and cementing its place as a source of inspiration for artists. or quoting the director saying how something underpins the redevelopment of our world famous period rooms are inappropriately promotional in tone. It reads more like a press release than neutral encyclopedia content.
There are also WP:RECENTISM issues if you intend to add a full paragraph with a quotation from the museum's director each time a new exhibition opens.
Please read and follow the guidelines at WP:COI in future, whenever you make edits related to your employer. You must also follow the requirements at WP:PAID if you are updating Wikipedia as part of your job at the museum.
This is only about the fact that you are making edits in an area where you have a conflict of interest: all such editors are obliged to follow policy on this. It is not about your interests or your background. Belbury (talk) 08:17, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
This makes no sense whatsoever. You are now referring to an edit made in 2022 which was removed, and which I made no attempt to reinstate or dispute. Then, you removed a recent edit which was entirely factual. Your assertion of impartiality looks very partial from where I am standing. I will reinstate my most recent edits, albeit without the quote. SanjitChudha (talk) 13:14, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You must follow WP:COIEDIT when editing an article about your employer. If you think some content should be reinstated, you should raise the issue on the article talk page rather than reinstating it directly. Thanks. Belbury (talk) 13:24, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
