Speedy deletion nomination of Azra Quraishi

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Azra Quraishi, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of pakbs.org/pjbot/abstracts/35(1)/01.html. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

    If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, SabaBPC. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Please explain any conflict(s) of interest with any articles you have created or edited here. --- Possibly (talk) 05:08, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Possibly, Thanks for the head's up. I have reviewed the rules more carefully and see that I should probably disclose an apparent conflict. I did not think I was conflicted because I have no financial interest, nor family relationship. I am somewhat confused about where/how to make a declaration, even after having reviewed the guidelines. I am not even sure if you will see this message here. It was my intention to create a variety of "stub" pages for others to flesh out - but then they get deleted for lacking notability . . . anyway please let me know if you can help with my declaring a conflict. In the absence of specific direction, I will need to take some time to figure it out. Thanks SabaBPC (talk) 18:33, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@SabaBPC: see this. See the Paid editor section. --- Possibly (talk) 18:50, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Possibly:I am not paid and I do not know how to disclose a possible conflict without providing my identity. I'm still not sure there is a conflict so I'm unclear what to do. Situations like this typically call for a conversation - a place for advice that goes back and forth. I wonder if there are any wiki editors like that I can call? Thanks. SabaBPC (talk) 13:32, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi. There is no telephone service, sorry. Due to our strong interest in WP:neutrality, we do not like to spend an inordinate amount of time explaining such things to COI and paid editors, as they usually do not produce the most neutral content. However, should you want to continue, you have two options for disclosure. If not paid, you need to simply declare your COI on your user page, using the above templates. Alternately, If you have received more than 1 cent in expenses, salary, gifts, or perks from anyone you are writing about, you can use the paid editing template mentioned above. We call anyone who has received any money from organizations they are associated with a paid editor. It is that simple. Please read the above policies (please read WP:NOTPROMOTION) and take care of the disclosures on your own before editing further. Thanks. --- Possibly (talk) 23:08, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
"I'm still not sure there is a conflict "... so no connection to this article? Anything to declare?--- Possibly (talk) 23:42, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Possibly:To repeat I am not paid . . . I donate. I do not see a COI category that corresponds to volunteers/donors/supporters. The WP:SOAP guidance seems most relevant. It says "It can be tempting to write about yourself or projects in which you have a strong personal involvement." - so given there was involvement, I followed the notability guidelines.
