editThere's a reason why I didn't use an image copyright tag here, because I couldn't confirm what its reuse terms were. Do you know for a fact that the image is public domain? I don't. - Keith D. Tyler [flame] 06:21, Feb 21, 2005 (UTC)
Macadam
editHey, good call on separating macadam from asphalt concrete! I never really knew what macadam really was, and I suspect that is a very common misconception. Thanks! Spalding 13:55, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)
Ingredients in foods
editI agree with your efforts. I find the lists informative and interesting. Maybe we can collapse the lists into smaller units as well? Roodog2k 19:29, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I don't quite understand what you're asking. If you're suggesting the smaller list format is best (comma-separated rather than bulleted), I agree. -SCEhardt 20:09, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I would like to know why my external link was removed by you from the page on E-Marketing and E-Commerce. The link I added fall within the policy on advertising under What Wikipedia is Not. These entries contain other external links to outside compaines yet those are not being deleted. If my entries are to be deleted those need to be as well. (Comment sent via email by NightWolfe on 15 June 2005)
- You had added that same link to 12 pages! In the Electronic commerce page you had inserted the link into sections other than external links. Since you were spamming Wikipedia, I removed all of the links to that website. Please keep in mind that wikipedia is not a place for advertising. -SCEhardt 14:39, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Well each link posted was to a different area that had to deal with the above entry .. I read the rules on What Wikipedia Is Not under the advertising section and do not beleive what I posted violated those rules. The website posted falls under many different catagories and if visitors would like to see an external example of that then they should be able to follow the posted link .. I'm sorry but I do not see how posting these links has violated any Wikipedia rule or could be considered spam since it's just a link posted in a section devoted to external links where other companies have posted links to thier compaines for the sake of advertising.
- "External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they can serve to identify major corporations associated with a topic (see finishing school for an example)."
- Please see Wikipedia:External links Specifically, "Wikipedia disapproves strongly of links that are added for advertising purposes. Adding links to one's own page is strongly discouraged. The mass adding of links to any website is also strongly discouraged, and any such operation should be raised at the Village Pump or other such page and approved by the community before going ahead. Persistently linking to one's own site is considered Vandalism and can result in sanctions." -SCEhardt 15:29, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Well this can be seen in different ways, and they are ways that we most likely won't agree on. If you'll allow me to place a link Under E-Commerce and E-Marketing to the International Chamber of E-Commerce and a link in the section Web Directory to eChamber Directory which is a free online directory I'll be content and won't post other links .. we have another site which is Library of E-Commerce which has free articles and resources for small businesses but I am not sure what entry that would fit under so I will not add it at this time .. but if I can find a topic that it would fit in well I would like to add it in the future. Thanks
- OK, I will not delete any more of your links. If I feel that you have added links where they shouldn't be, I will bring it up on the article's talk page (example). If you have knowledge in any of the areas where you have been posting these links, I would encourage you to contribute to the articles! -SCEhardt 16:36, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Very good .. I'm glad we are able to come to an agreement on this. If I make any new topics I will be sure to make them as complete about the subject matter as possible and keep our website out of it, except for an external link .. I don't beleive there will be many, if any, new topics I will have/need to create though .. Thanks

IfD
editHi SCEhardt. When you add {{ifd}} to an image, please also remember to list it for deletion at WP:IFD. Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 5 July 2005 17:14 (UTC)

Re: Hershey's/Vegelate
editMoved to Talk:The Hershey Company
I can't believe I am about to ask you this
editHeh...
After our previous victory concerning ingredent lists, I hope you understand me. :)
In the PB&J article, I think the author's intent is to explain that since peanut butter will not drip (unlike jelly) when you turn a slice of bread upside-down, its an easy sandwich to make... Jelly DOES drip, which is why I am wondering whay you're trying to say...
Roodog2k (talk) 13:36, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
- Ok; I just rewrote the paragraph so hopefully it makes sense to everyone now :) Let me know what you think and of course feel free to go ahead and make any changes as you see fit! -SCEhardt 18:40, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
Twix photo source
editHi SCEhardt. Could you please provide the source for Image:Twix opened.jpg? Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 20:11, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
- Hrm... how did that picture get here? I must have goofed when I meant to update the copy on the Commons commons:Image:Twix opened.jpg. The source is myself and the license is PD,
but I'm listing the photo for deletion because it is unnecessary. Thanks for noticing this! -SCEhardt 20:22, 19 September 2005 (UTC) - Actually it looks like IFD says not to list duplicate images for deletion -SCEhardt 20:29, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
Dancing Banana in spoken articles
editJust letting you know that I removed the Dancing Banana link from the Spoken Articles page and the Spoken Articles template from the Dancing Banana article. I can't find the sound recording of the article. If there is a recording, let me know where it is and I'll put everything back, but pointing to the correct file. -SCEhardt 06:41, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
- nah, this was my first internet recording ever. deleted for the sake of being too silly I guess. see my talk page, there is another message about that.... --user:avsa
Alphabetical order in Category:Spoken articles
editHi! I noticed you reordered the articles into alphabetical order after I added mine at the end. I must confess to having missed the alphabetical instruction initially, but I think the line "· <!-- Next article link here-->" at the end of the category was a little misleading. Do you think it reasonable to remove such entries? BTW I have only started on Wikipedia in the last month so I am still getting to grips with policies. Throup 18:49, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- No problem! It looks like a lot of people have just been adding articles to the end. I think someone should go through and alphabetize all the sections and remove the confusing "Next article link here." Since the category is fairly populated now, people should be able to figure out how to add new articles following what is already there. I'll work on this tonight if I get a chance. -SCEhardt 21:43, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Solid Snake spoken version
editHey - Just wanted to give you a bit of feedback on the Solid Snake spoken article. Overall it sounds good, though I'd agree with what Throup said about the speech feeling a bit rushed in places. I noticed the recording was missing the intro and conclusion statements with Wikipedia's web address and the GNU license as mentioned in the project recording guidelines, but that should be easy to add in if you kept the Audacity file. Beyond that, it sounds great! -SCEhardt 18:39, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I noticed that after listening to it later on. Hence I modified the files and reuploaded it to the server. I experinced some problems though, I think it mught be possible that the database is full of requests that are slowing it down.
- Thanks for the link and the comment, they were both very useful, I wikified the file now. Federico Pistono ✆ ✍ 22:07, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Howdy
editRegarding Image:Carbidelamp.jpg, did you take that picture yourself? It also appears here, and the site claims to have a 'revised' date of May 2000, making it unlikely they pulled the image from Wikipedia. -SCEhardt 15:39, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- You are indeed right about the Carbide lamp, I loaded it up a few months ago, as a new user July, before realizing the rules of Wikipedia. There are a few lingering ones left I believe. You may go ahead and delete if you wish, or if you want me too, after lunch I will. Thanks, Scott 15:50, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me about this. I've listed the image for speedy deletion. The good news is that I have a working carbide lamp so I should be able to get a free use picture of it put up in a few weeks! -SCEhardt 17:47, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- You lucky dog! Those things are antiques! I wish I had one, Hey, I do have an old can of calcium carbide in the garage, Let me know if you need some. Does not do any good w/o the lamp.
- We use to spit on the calcium carbide and watch it turn into acetylene. Even as a kid I use to get a tobacco can, put some carbide in it, spit in the can, quickly put the lid on it and watch the top fly off! Coming from the Coal Region of Pa, I know for a fact the old miners use to use them in the deep mines. One thing they did was held the lamp high in the mine and watch the flame, If it went dim , there was a lack of O2, Then hold the lamp low and watch the flame, If it started to glow more, then there might be a presence of Methane gas, since it is heavier than air.
- Anyway thank-you for your understanding, and sorry about the pic thing.
- I sure hope we do get a replacement pic in the future! Take care of that lamp, and sorry to put anyone through the Wiki deletion process. REGARDS Scott 18:38, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

editI've jsut asked Scott, on his talk page, You say on User talk:SCEhardt that "I loaded it up a few months ago, as a new user July, before realizing the rules of Wikipedia. There are a few lingering ones left I believe." If you have uploaded other images (or text) in violation of the copyright owners' rights, please list them so that they may be removed ASAP. Thank you., but he's deleted my request without responding. Andy Mabbett 22:45, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- I would like to respectfully but firmly state that I don't want to have anything to do with this. -SCEhardt 22:59, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not asking you to; I'm simply placing the comment under the appropriate heading, for the record. Andy Mabbett 23:25, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
Circuit design
editJust to let you know we are thinking of merging all this stuff into the relevant existing articles then deleting this page.--Light current 04:48, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up. Sounds like a good idea to me - it seems redundant the way it is now. -SCEhardt 05:03, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
Hi! While I agree with the comments you made in the plaintain article, in that you are right, not allowing to say that plantain chips are also called tostones is not right. Let me explain: What you describe as tostones, are tostones. We agree. What you call plantain chips, are plantain chips. However, those thing you know as plantain chips are also called tostones where in the S.A. where I live. How could that be? Well, the tostones you describe are the ones made at home. However, those you call plaintain chips are the ones we buy already packed at the stores, or from streets vendors in trafic. And we call them tostones too. See? The difference is that some are home made and the others are comercially made. But they are basically the same thing. I will let you much on that. I am not making any edits now. I think better if you make them. But I will check the article some other time and if you haven't added any comment, I will do it then. By the way, if you intend to reply, please do it in my page. I will likely forget to come here to read. Cheers.Anagnorisis 05:43, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
- Interesting... Thanks for clarifying that! I've edited the article to reflect what you described. Please have a look and make sure I got it right. -SCEhardt 13:31, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
- Read it. I think it is perfect that way. Cheers. 200.93.54.50 20:17, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
