Nope. It still doesn't make sense and you're still disrupting the page. If you continue to do that, you'll be blocked from editing. --Jostcom2 (talk) 12:46, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

FYI Minor Planet Mailing List information sharing requirements

Hi, a bit ago you copyedited the Earth trojan article here about the potential discovery of a new Earth Trojan asteroid 2020 XL5. In doing so you deleted some context that the announcements in the two references that the messages had been posted on the Minor Planets Mailing List (MPML). While otherwise a totally reasonable copyedit, the list policy for MPML is that while the list is open for resharing in other media, any resharing requires credit to the original author(s) (retained in the reference body post-edit) and that it came from MPML (which was not retained either in the reference body or in the section text after the edit). I just added the MPML mailing list tag to the message titles in the references to bring that back into compliance with the mailing list reposting/resharing policy. If you see other MPML messages referenced in the future, if you can make sure they have the list source information credited properly it'll avoid the list managers getting angry at Wikipedia... THanks. -george Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 09:30, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Researching Wikipedia

Hi, I am a PhD student at University College London (UK), researching the collective production of knowledge. Wikipedia is my main case study. The WikiProject Solar System is my main observation deck on the activity of Wikipedians at the moment, so of course your name came up. Would you be able/willing to talk to me about your activity on Wikipedia?

I have submitted my project to the Wikipedia research committee for guidance. You can find the full summary here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Sociotechnical_epistemology:_how_do_we_foster_good_practices_in_collective_knowledge-production%3F

There's more on my user page and you can ask me any questions. We can discuss identification, uses of data and so forth before talking as well. If you're interested, you can contact me via my Talk page, or by emailing me at elena.falco.18@ucl.ac.uk

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Leviviridae

A tag has been placed on Category:Leviviridae indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Help plz

Hey, my account was block forever on Ukrainian wikipedia by user:Yakudza because he decided that I used open proxies. However, I have never used them. The real reason I was blocked is that I started a discussion in local teahouse about abusing of checkuser rights by one of the checkusers of Ukrainian wikipedia. And right after seral hours I was blocked. That is a direct violation of Wikipedia rules. I demand truth and justice. Please review my case and my account and you will find I didn't do anything wrong. --Пушинко (talk) 16:53, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I don't understand what is primary source now. Can you enlighten me?

As per https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Reliable_sources, "academic and peer-reviewed publications are usually the most reliable sources in topics such as history, medicine, and science". I linked a peer-reviewed published paper which has been cited 290 times according to google scholar (https://scholar.google.com/scholar?cluster=7487689362200797025&hl=zh-CN&as_sdt=0,5). If that is not a reliable source, then more than half of the links in the article should also be removed. Or did I miss something? I don't want to start an edit war or something. I'm just confused now. Maybe linking one of the 290 papers that cite that paper qualifies as "secondary source"? Betty (talk) 01:09, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Need help for creation of finance and business pages.

Dear fellow Wikipedian, Despite having been off Wikipedia for sometime now, I am coming back with a few specific ideas in mind for which I may need to get help and advice. I am looking to create a few Wikipedia pages about various financial institutions which are quite high in notability but have not yet been covered, however, despite my experience and my knowledge of the field, I am new to this kind of content.

Therefore, I am looking for other, recognized editors that I could consult in case I need help or advice if I encounter roadblocks during my endeavor. I would need to get advice from someone who is well versed in the fields of finance and business. (Or interested in such matters enough to help me)

Let me know if you could help me with this task and if not, let me know if you know someone on wikipedia that would be the go to person to help with such matters ? I am trying to contact a few administrators who seem to be highly competent in those fields but am currently having a hard time finding someone. Thanks in advance, SUPERGTOR (talk) 03:14, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Ruslik! Could you undelete Talk:List of Nobel laureates by university affiliation to go along with the subject page, and List of Nobel laureates by university affiliation II/Talk:List of Nobel laureates by university affiliation II, which were also part of the nomination? Requesting an Administrator's Opinion and Rollback

Hello Rusliko,

Apologies if this is the wrong way to reach out to you but I was looking to post on the administrator's noticeboard and I saw the 'skip the drama' option and found you on Active Admins. If this is an error please let me know. I was requesting administrator opinion on a dispute between BilledMammal and myself. I have tried to resolve this issue through discussion but we have been unable to come to an agreement.

I had almost all of my edits in the past month or more reverted in just a few hours by BilledMammal. I am not opposed to discussion on these topics and I feel that it was inappropriate to do so without first bringing up his concerns with me. It certainly feels discouraging when virtually everything I've been doing on Wikipedia is reverted and basically meaningless. I made these edits in good faith while looking at reputable secondary sources and Wikipedia's guidelines. I believe this concerns both WP:HOUNDING and WP:AGF. They have also not brought up these concerns on the relevant talk pages. My request is for a rollback in regards to what BilledMammal reverted.

BilledMammal and I have agreed that this issue should be taken to the administrator's noticeboard and our recent discussion on their talk page is now closed. Desertambition (talk) 21:40, 29 November 2021 (UTC)

Please unblock me

Hello again, I'm Lil Pablo. It passed six months after my last email (On May, where you advise that you can answer me prior to November 17, 2021) I want to be unblocked because in all that time I reflected why they blocked my account, look that I previously thought that Graham87 changed my block settings unfairly and without anyone's authorization and he messed with my talk page. That's why you found out that I created socks to post a report in ANI, there in those reports I thought that in the beginning (it was another time and I believed otherwise) they had every reason to block me, I was changing from "British" to "English "In a disruptive way, I admitted not to do it again when suddenly an IP that is not me started to edit again, everyone thought it was me, but it wasn't me.I had to use two unblock templates explaining that I am not that IP, and then Jpgordon suddenly told me that I am not being honest, that he just blocked six more of "my accounts", I did not know what he was and was denying that belonging, then Graham87 reverts a small comment and then I change my configuration, and then he tried to put "see below", but it failed, and I even think he did it on purpose, being an administrator of enwikipedia, and I also think he took advantage of being "blind" That seemed very unfair to me that I started creating socks and posting reports, and then I found out late that in early 2021 I created those accounts because on eswiki I had problems and I had to create socks there too, even before coming to enwiki because there I did They blocked me and then if the matter with me is more serious, I want them to unblock me in enwiki and also remove the global blockade and I want to tell you that I have already matured. Hopefully you can understand what happened to me, just in case the enwiki case is less serious, so I want you to unlock me here. Another thing, when you remove my global block, tell to Graham to unblock me in this wiki, look that I promise to edit better in this wiki. Other thing that I forgot mention, when I maked all thse appeals they rejected me all the time in UTRS, they told me without explanation that all my appeals will close without read (Yamla told me that). 157.100.74.50 (talk) 18:14, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

If true, this user has engaged in block evasion in November. See Special:Contributions/157.100.74.50 and their block log. I'll go block the IP address now. Lil Pablo knows their path to being unblocked. Ruslik0, you are very welcome to discuss this further, of course, if you think they are a candidate to being unblocked. --Yamla (talk) 18:30, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia

Dear fellow editor,

I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.

All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.

Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.

I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).

The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Some irritating person edited out a referenced quote – apparently it was you

On 1 June 2022‎ user Ruslik0 deleted the following quote from §Modeling antennas with line equations:

In the first approximation, the current in a thin antenna is distributed
exactly as in a transmission line. — Schelkunoff & Friis (1952)(p 217 (§8.4))

The quote is cited, pertinent, and correct. Best of all, it is a statement by the "last of the great" mathematical antenna theorists, S.A. Schelkunoff, from the era before computer software (e.g. the National Electrical Code) displaced it in common use. I have restored it.

I am bewildered by your inappropriate recision of a good edit. Kindly knock off deleting sourced quotes from venerable authorities.
166.205.91.47 (talk) 08:12, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

You inserted some random absolutely irrelevant quote in some random place in the article. You edit did not seem to be constructive and indicated that you do not understand what you are writing about. Ruslik_Zero 20:16, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
To the contrary: Your judgement is completely flawed, apparently because you don't understand how to model antenna segments transmission lines – which the existing text actually does mention (grudgingly) as something still actually done. This wide-spread stupidity (and yes, it is inflammatory language, but what else should I call the problem?) on the part of apparently 'younger' electrical engineers who are not antenna designers, who have been introduced (only) to antenna theory in a computer-software based antenna modeling era, I think must be that the instructors skipped past the transmission line equations (except for two-conductor transmission lines, of course) since some version NEC software is easier to use (even though it occasionally gives wrong answers: e.g. some versions of NEC before NEC 4 failed to generate fields in the interior of loop antennas).
I've reverted your revert. In fact, I know quite a lot about radio antennas, both theoretical and practical. More importantly, the quote is not in any way random. It is a statement in the introduction to one of the most venerable of all textbooks (though dated) on the exact subject of modelling antennas (all forms: monopoles, loops, and dipoles) using transmission line equations. Further, it constitutes an endorsement of the exact subject that the section addresses.
Back off. Get out. Buzz away. Cease and desist with your vandalism. I put in a good quote that is a pithy introduction to the section, and you made a bad call removing it. If you think it's wrong, I suggest that you read either of the actual books cited (Schelkunoff & Friis, 1953, or Raines, 2007). Clearly, if you're hostile to the idea, you need an education. Don't mess with it again, until after you've done your homework. And if you still feel like deleting it, you didn't read enough. I recommend Raines (2007): Almost everything he gives is a direct steal from Schelkunoff & Friis, and being contemporary, his writing might be a bit more accessible.

Deletion request

I stumbled across User:Psychiatrick/Prose4 at recent changes and tried to delete it per WP:G3 (vandalism, not as precise as it could be, but), principally based on the beginning of it. I confess I did not read the whole thing. It's huge and I have to scroll slowly through a machine translation. Anyway, I got an error message saying only a steward can delete it. I picked you because of your fluency in Russian. Anyway, if you agree it should be deleted, please do so; if not, I'd appreciate it if you'd explain what you think is going on with this user and this page. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:44, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

I deleted it as U5. Ruslik_Zero 20:04, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
Right, much better than G3, thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:11, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

Однако доводы он как-будто не слышит и продолжает повторять одно и то же: Talk:Hazaras#Reverting_the_edits, Talk:Hazaras#In_the_heartland_of_Eurasia_the_multilocus_genetic_landscape_of_Central_Asian_populations. Eris absolute magnitude

Hi,

I saw you revert someone else's edit on Eris (dwarf planet) with the edit summary "JPL is not a good source for absolute magnitudes." Can you explain why that is? Other dwarf planet articles Pluto, Haumea, and Makemake use JPL absolute magnitudes as well. I know that JPL derives its absolute magnitude values from the Minor Planet Center's method of fitting apparent magnitudes from its observations database to a generic phase slope of 0.15, but may I ask you if there are some other nuanced reasons to exclude this sort of estimate? Thanks. Nrco0e (talk) 00:41, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

The reliable sources of magnitudes are only specialized photometric publications. Any such values must also have formal error specified. Ruslik_Zero 14:35, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

Request for Review of Quantum Knowledge Graphs

I am Co-PI on a proposal to the National Science Foundation's Proto-OKN project (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2023/nsf23571/nsf23571.htm). We are developing knowledge graphs for quantum computing, networks, and sensing, and intend to use data from Wikipedia to inform our graphs. I am reaching out to see if you or your colleagues might, assuming we're awarded the grant, be interested in evaluating knowledge graphs developed by our team, for accuracy with Wikipedia content, as user evaluation is a required component of the NSF grant.

If it helps, we are encouraged in the proposal to include budget lines for evaluators, so that their time will be paid. In the event we're awarded the grant, I'd be happy to discuss options for compensation.

At this stage, all that we would need is filling in the template below which was provided on the NSF grant announcement linked above:

"If the proposal submitted by Dr. Barry Smith entitled "Quantum Understanding through Accessible Knowledge Graphs (QUARK)" is selected for funding by NSF, it is my intent to collaborate as detailed in the Project Description of the proposal."

Where in this case, the details described in the project description relevant to Wikipedia would be as evaluators of the content of our knowledge graphs for accuracy against Wikipedia.

Happy to talk more if you're interested; hope to hear from you soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crayon Logic (talkcontribs) 00:36, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

Outgoing and Incoming MPs

Is there a way you could alter the "Infobox legislative election" template, so there aren't arrows next to the aforementioned links? ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 18:03, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

There are a feature of {{succession links}} template that is used there. Ruslik_Zero 20:15, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

Moons of Uranus diagram

I saw that you removed @Exoplanetaryscience's diagram from Moons of Uranus. I don't understand what specific aspects you find "messy"—I personally find this diagram very helpful, and it essentially conveys the same information as Eurocommuter's older diagram, but updated. I suggest that you bring this up in the talk page for consensus before removing it yourself. Nrco0e (talk) 17:05, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

When I looked at it I was unable to understand it though I wrote this article some time ago. Ruslik_Zero 17:15, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Maybe it could be the missing units in the diagram? Double sharp addressed it and the author of the diagram is working to fix it, so hopefully it'll be better. Nrco0e (talk) 17:16, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

B-type main-sequence stars page issue

Hello, the bug appears to be only on the mobile version of the page,I assume that you're using the desktop version. Specifically, the "SPECTRAL TYPE" diagram picture covers the "HISTORY" and "PROPERTIES" paragraphs, rendering them inaccessible. Maybe this only occurs on my device, if that is the case I'm sorry for the mess I made. Hope you have a good day Respectfully

Hey I want you to become my mentor. I want to mostly review articles and possibly write new scientific articles. My interests are science and math, chemistry, biology, physics, calculus, trigonometry, geometry. I read a lot of scientific articles, ex textbooks, new developing things, and also a member of a scientific organization. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hawkx101 (talkcontribs) 00:24, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Antonov An-148 page

Hi Ruslik0, thanks for your contribution to the delivery/order list update. However, the two Myanmar Air Force machines were never to be delivered, and the citation which you provided does not confirm the fact of delivery. In fact, the orders were cancelled, and it is stated at the "accidents" page, following the very same link (currently, citation #29). Therefore, the total number of delivered machines is 24, not 26. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riz8383 (talkcontribs) 18:43, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
