A lengthy welcome
editWelcome to Wikipedia. I've added a welcome message to the top of this page that gives a great deal of information about Wikipedia. I hope you find it useful.
Additionally, I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily in collaboration.
Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.
If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.
Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.
If you work from reliable, independent sources, you shouldn't go far wrong. WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable.
If you find yourself in a disagreement with another editor, it's best to discuss the matter on the relevant talk page.
I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Hipal (talk) 18:30, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: 2S43 Malva (January 8)
edit- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:2S43 Malva and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Frankly I assumed that the Ukranian MOD source would be the more contentious one, not the one from the Russian MOD when the article concerns a Russian weapons system. Rsemmes92 (talk) 15:39, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Rsemmes92!

- My previous comment wasn't really necessary or polite, sorry.
- I will say I do think that in the particular context of what was being discussed, TASS would be a reasonable starting point. The 2S43 isn't a "big ticket" weapon like a fighter jet or tank that will wow the general public, so there's less incentive for them to lie about its production/adoption schedule. Further, I'm not aware of any non-Russian state media sources that would have any knowledge as to the adoption/production schedule of said artillery piece.
- I did not wish to emulate the Ukrainian Wikipedia in only citing Ukrainian department of defense sources about their adversary's military.
- I'll see about rewriting it since it is deserving of an article. Rsemmes92 (talk) 19:57, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of 2S43 Malva
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 2S43 Malva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://t.me/s/i20028843?before=86590, https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/2s43.htm, and https://www.armyrecognition.com/defense_news_august_2022_global_security_army_industry/completion_of_russian_152mm_2s43_malva_self-propelled_howitzer_tests_planned_for_late_2022.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
