Mona Eltahawy

Do you want to mediate or arbitrate this dispute? I'd also like to talk about what I noticed on ISI.org/Chauvinism page. I think we are supposed to start with mediation first.

So...would you like to discuss?

I just looked over some other disputes - some related - some unrelated to you. I would like to try the Moderated Discussion but if their aren't enough volunteers then we could do 3rd Opinion unless you think we can figure something out together through just us having a discussion - just not sure it isn't already beyond that point for you. I'm definitely down to talk about though. Please let me know.

I take issue with your actions that seem like you are controlling the universe of characterizations. A person stating that something is slanted needs to provide reasoned proof/analysis as to why. Can we please talk about this like the Wikipedia Guidelines suggest we do. Its not just this page but its best fix it a page at a time. Its a lot of them and its dangerous to the future of Wikipedia to keep it that way. Further, it also hurts society at large and I can reason that explanation if we talk - Again, its not whats best for Wikipedia.

@GhostsOfGironde: What did you find confusing about the explanations I have already given? –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 17:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

I may respond later but I am putting somewhat of an explanation on the Mona Eltahawy talk page here in a second.

GhostsOfGironde (talk) 04:33, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

I meant that I didn't understand because I couldn't figure out which sources were allowed or not. @GorillaWarfare: reverted my edit but gave a link to the approved sources. It was helpful. I tried to use FoxNews but didn't notice that it had three different "FoxNews" tabs and one was green so that meant go to me and to me it wasn't necessarily politics. She reverted it anyways but I didn't do anything to it. I put a message on the Talk page that I guess is too long but it was meant to be a plea for unity because the Wikipedia website is having real world effects (since I think its aroun #15 on the Alexa ranking). I'm a volunteer too and much newer so I could use the help/guidance.

Orson Scott Card (OSC).

Hello, in the interest of having a useful discussion can you please tell me if you have read any of OSC's novels or opinion columns. If you have, can you please point out which ones you think are most relevant to the homophobia accusations. Annette Maon (talk) 07:11, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

@Annette Maon: I've read quite a few of his novels, and also his columns in the course of editing the article. More importantly, I have read the citations to reliable sources, since my personal literary analysis as a member of the public is not important here. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 03:02, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
@Roscelese: Thank you for responding. Can you please tell me which of the novels and columns you have read are relevant?

Can you explain which citations in the article support an accusation of homophobia? Have you checked if these citations might be WP:QUESTIONABLE or WP:BIASED? Since the article is a WP:BLP "Contentious material about living persons that is poorly sourced [...] or just questionable should be removed immediately". Do you have a justification for not doing that? My questions are not rhetorical. If someone were to complain about the BLP violations and lack of NPOV in the article (which I have not done and would prefer to avoid) the easiest solution would be to delete the whole controversy which I happen to believe is notable enough to be mentioned. Can you help me understand why you believe that the following phrases in the article are not violations of WP:BLPSTYLE but of WP:V as well?

  • "he wrote in favor of laws against homosexual behavior to discourage the acceptance of homosexual people"
  • "Card also stated in a 2004 column that the development of homosexuality has environmental factors that can include abuse"
  • "which condemns the sin but loves the sinner"

Thanks, Annette Maon (talk) 16:13, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

"Removal/Deletion of the Ingressive for Good Page"

Hi Roscelese, thanks for taking your time to check out the article. However, I do not seem to agree with the fact that you think it's a promotional content and that the organisation is non-notable. I will be making edits to the page and working on the references on my end but could you please help identify the parts that sound/ look promotional, so that it is worked on too. Thanks.Rockdigital (talk) 09:07, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Gigi Chao

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gigi Chao requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 07:33, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
