License tagging for Image:Linton signpost.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Linton signpost.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

I see. In the future, don't use the db tags, because they flag the article to be deleted entirely. If the speedy deletions are backlogged, a busy admin might not notice that the article is fine, but there are problematic revisions. You can post a request on the administrator's noticeboard, or send an email to requests for oversight. However, we generally don't delete revisions, even if they are defamatory, unless the subject of the defamation requests them - revision deleting is usually reserved for personal information like phone numbers, email addresses, etc, that would be harmful if they were visible anywhere on the sight. I think the feeling about defamation is that by deleting it from the main article we have made it clear that it is incorrect information, and don't need to do anything else. But if you feel strongly about it, please do post on the noticeboard. (Sorry this took so long to reply, I signed off and went to bed right before you responded.) Natalie 17:15, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
