Closing noms on FPC

Hi Raven,
I noticed you closed heaps of noms in one go, is there an easier way to go about it than going through the steps discribed in "Closing Nominations Procedure"? Thanks, --Fir0002 05:47, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Redundant versions of PowerStation

edit

Yes, please delete those. Incidently, what about older version of the same image: Image:PowerStation3.svg has a prior version I overwrote. I can't see this ever being used; I managed to get the last column of text in the key the wrong size, which is why I uploaded a new version over the top. Is it normal practice to delete these as well, or let them stand as part of the image's history? BillC 08:48, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Telling Vanderdecken to 'shut the hell up' was incivil and inappropriate. Please remember at all times to be civil during discussion. Thanks. Raven4x4x 04:24, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

so its ok for him to make provocative and sniddy comments towards me to piss me off. Nobody said anything to him so i dont care what i said, im surprissed i didnt say something else but if he is also told i wont do it again. Childzy (Talk|Contribs) 10:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • If you think it detracts from the photograph that it's monochrome, we'd love to see you tint it for us.
  • Well it's not. Image resolution, to be honest. This is an encyclopedia, there's no excuse for not knowing what something is when there's a search bar less than two feet away...

Things like that really agrivated me. Childzy (Talk|Contribs) 10:52, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Im afraid I am not a P.I., I do not have unlimited knowledge-seeking resources, but I do have the content of Wikipedia. The first time I spoke of a possible vested interest, was not in direct attention to any one person. I was simply astounded by how almost immediately many users had put down another user's request with little or no support for their cause. The second time, was in direct attention to user Fir0002. A very formidable number of the Featured Pictures were either nominated or self-nominated by him. So most definitely, it is more than obvious that anyone with a majority holding in any facet would have a vested interest in the outcome of that holding. Now those were my reasons, now as for you... What I said was in no way insulting or malevolent; the first time I used the word "ulterior" motive, it was being used as a Question. The second time it was in response to Fir's outcry against delistings, he even lobbyed having a minimum time in FP before delisting is possible. Furthermore, asking a question and telling a user the obvious truth is in no way something that is wrong. It is free speech at the very least. The point is, I was not rambling on trying to stir controversy, I knew what I was writing and I wrote it. Simple as that. If you are concerned that I was just trying to create some steam, then please put your mind to rest, as I was not. I appreciate that you addressed me on your concerns and gave me the equal chance to respond. Thank You. -- AJ24 14:05, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reversal of archiving

edit

Sorry about that. :) I have no idea how that happened as I didn't get an edit conflict and all I did was click the edit page button, add the FPC nomination line and save... its possible I was editing a previous version but I doubt that was the case as there would have been no reason for me to even be looking at previous versions.. Anyway, sorry! Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 09:17, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lyapunov fractal FPC

edit

Hello, I notice you have closed the nomination of the Lyapunov fractal FPC, and it is not promoted despite a +11/-5 result. I know close votes are dealt in a case by case manner. Is there a rationale in this case? Thanks. --Bernard 20:26, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Correct procedure not followed in mass delisting of FPs?

edit

Hi. You may not have been aware of this, but as far as I could tell, for the pictures you delisted today, the nominator for delisting, Vandendecken, did not inform the original uploaders or nominators that their pictures were being considered for delisting. If this is the case, then Vandendecken's mass delisting actions (and AJ24's subsequently) were contrary to the guidelines for delisting of FPs. This was noted (by me) on the talk page here. Please consider suspending these delistings until this gets sorted out. --Bagginz 15:17, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Raven,

I suppose that me being a newer user and you being one with more history here is the core of this situation. I, as a new user, would expect to go to a thumbnail list starting with the first page. You, as a user who is not new, would probably prefer to go to the last page to see which images are the newest.

I would guess that it's just a decision on how wikipedia wants to present itself to its users. I would think it would rather cater to a newer user somewhat, since the whole point of this is for collaboration.

Ultimately though, it is of little importance either way. :)

I agree that I probably should have commented on my edit more. This is my inexperience showing probably, I honestly thought it was just a mistake in the link. I had been dealing with another incorrect URL earlier that day and just thought this was another case of that.

WP:SNIPE

edit

Hi, Raven4x4x, I was just wondering about WP:SNIPE. Because some wikipedian use the tool that I've mentioned for reverting vandalism, personal attack, obcenity. In my opinion, Vandal Sniper is very similar to Vandal Proof, but It's little bit different from Vandal Proof. I usually use Vandal Proof to revert all vandalisms on article, user's page, and user's talk page. So, Could you please tell me what's differences betweeen WP:SNIPE and Vandal Proof in my discussion page? Anyways, Cheers!!! *~Daniel~* 06:09, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

disputed tag needed in LTTE artical

edit

Plase put the {{disputed}} tag on [LTTE]this artcal. The page is protected and the regular users cannot put this tag. The intro. of this is inaccurate, given below are some details.

Intead of independence say that its fighting for a Separate state for the majority Tamil regions. When it says independence it means like there is no freedom for Tamils in Sri Lanka which is clearly misleading the reader.

  • There are Tamil political parties representing the GoSL
  • there are Tamil political leaders representing the GoSL
  • there are Tamil government workers
  • there are Tamil mercantile executives (in the private sector)
  • And there is the Tamil general Public - working, schooling and living very comfortable lives in all parts of the Island except for the regions controlled by the LTTE.

Untill this is disputed and verified I'm putting the dispute tag to this artical for inaccuray.---RavenS 21:28, 11 August 2006 (UTC) ( But unfortunately I couldnt do so, appreciate if you can put this tag)Reply

ODI performance graphs and a suggestion

edit

Do you plan to span your great work of creating graphs for ODI's as well.
A suggestion : May be the height of 0-50 can be increased and a horizontal line for every 10 runs be incorporated so that one can analyze the data more minutely, if this is a bit tough on your time then at least another line should be introduced for 25 runs as most batsmens batting average hower between 25-50. Thanks a lot. Vjdchauhan 13:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC).

Notre Dame image removal

edit

No problem, I could see it coming. It is a shame, especially considering that I´m fairly certain the waiver was not designed for situations such as this, but I suppose that an image on wikipedia can be used for any purpose, and it would be within reason to restrict such a thing. Still, I have the image for personal use, I suppose! Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 17:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I have a question. I counted 5 (or 6 if you count the vandal vote) in favor and 4 votes against this photo. What kind of majority is required to pass?

Thanks,

P.S. In other words, do you need a 2/3rds super majority or something like that? I can't find the rules regarding votes in the FP directions. Mactographer 21:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
