I appreciate the welcome

edit

Hi, RJN. Thanks for the welcome and helpful links. Always nice to hear from a fellow Cougar. I'm enjoying doing a bit of editing but will probably hold off for a while on starting any new articles until I'm a little more experienced. I have a couple of ideas for new titles: Fredell Lack (a world-renowned violinist—she was my teacher at UH); San Antonio Symphony (I'm a former member). . . .Maybe someday soon. South Florida metropolitan area

edit

I've reverted your changes to the above article. The name of the MSA was changed to Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach in 2003, as is explained on the talk page. -- Donald Albury(Talk) 11:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The metropolitan area name was changed again in December 2005 to Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Miami Beach. See http://www.census.gov/population/estimates/metro_general/List1.txt. —RJN 18:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
So I see. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I wish they would keep the name stable for a while. -- Donald Albury(Talk) 20:27, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

North Texas

edit

I wanted to know what your opinion was concerning North Texas. Why do you not think it is more associated with the South than the Southwest? I understand you live in Houston. I've lived in North Texas all my life and I can tell you that there is a much stronger Southern influence than a Southwestern one. What do you think about it? Thanks for your time. --Stallions2010 02:33, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Texas Collaboration of the month - August 2006

edit

Hello fellow Texan Collaboration of the Month editors,
We have made some good progress with Texas over the past month. However, I am not sure if we have improved the article enough yet to contemplate nominating it for FA (or at least GA). I propose that we spend one more month on it before choosing a new topic.
I further propose that we archive the existing list of future candidate articles. Some of the nominations are quite old. I think we should take fresh suggestions during August for a new article to collaborate on in September.
I look forward to your thoughts. Please put comments at Wikipedia_talk:Texan_Collaboration_of_the_Month#August_2006. Thanks! Johntex\talk 01:00, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yesterday

edit

RJN, it sucks what happened yesterday. At first glance, it didn't appear that 71.115.109.28 was a sockpuppet, but I'm pretty convinced after looking at the history of the DFW Metroplex article with the edits while logged in, then logging out to edit, then logging back in to edit, that Cymru81 was more than just sloppy.

If you need help with such a user, it's always available (although I was out yesterday), so don't feel like you have to take all the responsibility for reverting vandalism upon your shoulders. It is apparent that your intentions were pure, even if your methods were not sanctioned. Polaron and I both think that the edits regarding Dallas, DFW Metroplex, and Delaware Valley by Cymru81/71.115.109.28 were based on unreliable sources, so thank you for trying to maintain the quality of the articles.

Anyway, it appears that 71.115.109.28 has had a meltdown, as I would have expected. I think Cymru81/71.115.109.28 was really trying to make a point, more than good faith edits. Although I tried to be generally civil, I might have been the catalyst for this meltdown. Oh well. This kind of thing tends to happen sometimes and it's not worth detracting from your reputation of diligence and hard work to get involved in edit wars (however noble your intentions may be). Next time, just ask for help and ye shall receive. Welcome back! Ufwuct 03:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
