Alex Honnold El Capitan free solo

edit

Hello you suggest my edit regarding Alex Honnold being the only person to date to have free soloed a route on El Capitan as being untrue. The article is about “Free Soloing” NOT “Free Climbing” - two very different climbing disciplines. Can you confirm to me, who else has “Free Soloed” El Capitan since? I cannot find any information on this, thank you. 2.100.210.70 (talk) 22:16, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi - yes, if you read the Dean Potter article, you'll find he free soloed (not free climbed) the route Easy Rider on El Cap. It's not a bottom-to-top route, but then many routes aren't. Honnold is the first person to free solo El Cap bottom-to-top. Hope this clarifies it. pgbrown (talk) 23:00, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, yes I found the Dean Potter article, thanks. I have subsequently changed the grammar on Alex’s page - in line with how you described it and to make it clearer what his achievement actually means. Many thanks. 2.100.210.70 (talk) 19:32, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
