Epstein drag moved to draftspace
editThanks for your contributions to Epstein drag. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Paul Vaurie (talk) 20:52, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Paul, I'm sorry, but that makes no sense. This is an important result in physics. Are you saying it's not a notable result? Petwil (talk) 23:44, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- I still don't understand the problem. Can you explain? Are you saying (1) it needs citations (which it already has), or (2) you're just saying that Epstein drag isn't an important topic that merits a page? It sounds like you are saying the latter. Am I incorrect? Just trying to understand what the problem is. Thanks. Petwil (talk) 23:53, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Wait - are you saying it's not a notable topic b/c it doesn't have enough sources (it only has two)? I think if you look up that paper, you'll see it has been cited thousands of times. It's a landmark paper that was key, for example, to precise measurements of the charge of the electron in the Millikan oil-drop experiment. It's used all the time in examining the forces on so-called "dust" in dusty plasmas. The result is cited all over the places in basic physics texts. It's definitely a notable result. Confused. Petwil (talk) 23:56, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Correction: cited *only* 1334 times. Not "thousands". :) Petwil (talk) 23:57, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

editHello, Petwil. Thank you for your work on Epstein drag. TechnoSquirrel69, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
The subject in this article appears to be notable enough for an article, but the language is very technical in places, and borderline violates the neutral point of view policy in others, such as "The previous results were in error ... Epstein's work is viewed as definitive". Please take a look at the links I've provided and attempt to address some of these issues, and let me know if you have any questions!
