Welcome to Wikipedia, the greatest encyclopedia on Earth!
You seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics. You may wish to review the welcome page, tutorial, and stylebook, as well as the avoiding common mistakes and Wikipedia is not pages. The Wikipedia directory is also quite useful. In addition, if you made any edits before getting an account, you may wish to assign those to your username.
By the way, an important tip: To sign comments on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This automatically adds your name and the time after your comments.
Hope to see you around the Wiki! And if you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to contact me on my talk page! - ElfPhoto contribution
editGlad you enjoyed using Wikipedia enough to want to start contributing, too. Watch out--I've found that it can be addictive. :-) But have fun and do keep contributing as the inspiration strikes.
About the photo you uploaded, Image:Olive 4 053105.JPG--Wikipedia needs to know the source (e.g., photographer or URL) of its images and under what license it's released for free use. I release mine under GFDL, but others choose to release into the public domain. You can label the photo description page with, for example, {{GFDL}} or {{PD}} to clarify. Could you do that for this photo, please? Thanks. And ask if you have any questions. Elf | Talk 17:42, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Canadian Strength Party
editHi! I'm just inquiring about your article on the Canadain Strength Party, which is evidently a hard-left political group. I'm just wondering if it is important enough to meet Wikipedia standards, as I have never heard of it (I live in BC), and I couldn't find a single google or Yahoo! hit. You can reply on either this page or my talk page. Best wishes. --Scimitar 20:37, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I'm going to nominate the article for VfD. If this is mistaken, please present your arguments there. --Scimitar 21:30, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Peter, Scimitar is mistaken in believing that there is a consensus that only important parties have a place on Wikipedia. There is no consensus that "notability" is a valid grounds for deletion. Having said that, verifiability is a necessary condition for being on Wikipedia. I have been unable to find any evidence of this party. If you can provide such evidence, I will gladly change my vote, and encourage others to do so as well. Ground Zero 03:03, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I'm also holding off on my vote, pending confirmation that the party exists. If it's real, I think it should be kept -- but I need some evidence first. CJCurrie 19:43, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Evelyndick.jpg
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Evelyndick.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 19:12, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SAC.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:SAC.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of College of Veterinarians of Ontario
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article College of Veterinarians of Ontario, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free image File:SAC.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:SAC.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:30, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
