re: Great lakes

edit

I've rolled back your recent edits to the Great Lakes article. I noticed that you mentioned in your edit summary that you believed that your edits consisted of fixing "typos", but I'd like to point something out to you. You corrected "meltwater" to "melt water", but take note that the original spelling is probably correct, at least to the extent that Wikipedia already has an article with the original spelling as its title. The other correction you made ("upbound" to "unbound") is definitely incorrect. "Upbound"[1] is an expression derived from distinguishing between the more northerly lakes, which are often termed the "upper" lakes and the southern bodies of water which are many times referred to as the "lower" lakes. Thus, a north bound vessel is commonly called "upbound". My guess, is that you you're utilizing a spellcheck for reference that simply doesn't contain either of these terms in the sense they're being used here. It's always a good idea to never completely rely on a single spellchecker to form final opinions regarding how a particular word should be spelled in the context it appears in, a quick check in a reasonably good online dictionary before editing can often correct these problems before they occur. happy editing, cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 18:32, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits

edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:22, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Irunongames. I'm FlyingToaster, a friend of Roux's. I'm very sorry to say that Roux has decided to leave Wikipedia for personal reasons, so he won't be participating in the Adopt-a-User program any longer. Roux wanted me to tell you that he's very sorry to have to leave and will miss his adoptees very much.

So, what does that mean for you? At this point, you can:

  • Decide to end your participation in the Adopt-a-User program
  • Find another editor to adopt you. If you're looking for someone who has specific skills and interests, I will help you locate a good match.
  • Be adopted by me. I'm volunteering to take all of Roux's adoptees, and if you choose to go this route I'll do my best to continue where he left off. I know that Roux has a very rigorous Adoption Program, and I'm happy to follow this to the letter, doing just as he did, if it's the method you would prefer.

Please feel free to let me know what you'd like to do or ask a question by adding a comment here or to my talk page. Thank you, and most excellent editing to you.   FlyingToaster 07:49, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

You haz been adopted!

edit

By me! I added a userbox to your front page. Gotta run now, but we'll catch up later and talk about what you'd like to learn. One note: please sign anything you write in Wikipedia by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. Talk to ya later! FlyingToaster 21:34, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

VAN BOETZELAER

edit

I m working on this article right now; building, putting the pieces together; the claim of vandalism is absurd. Steve. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StevBeltman (talkcontribs) 23:46, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion requests

edit

Looks like you're working on New Page Patrol. While we can always use more npp'ers, you might want to avoid tagging pages for deletion the same minute they are created unless they are blatant vandalism (along the lines of "I like cheese" or "Jane is a #@(#&$!") Most new users take several edits to successfully make a new page, and it can be very disheartening to be slapped with a deletion notice the same minute they create a page. Van Boetzelaer is one example, Telgish is another. HTH.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:51, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion on World of Warcraft macros

edit

I concurred with the prod of the article World of Warcraft macros. I added a stronger reason for the article's deletion; I encourage you to review the list of arguments to avoid in deletion discussions -- it helped me a lot. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 21:35, 14 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request For Rollback

edit

Hi. I've fulfilled your request. Please see WP:RBK for any help on th etool or ask me. Please remember to use it only for blatant vandalism, and that it only reverts the edit - you will still need to warn the user manually. Pedro :  Chat  12:54, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Congrats! FlyingToaster 23:13, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's a tip

edit

It's generally useful to check the edit history before you a) revert something baselessly b) leave template messages on people's talk pages and c) presume to call such edits vandalism. You really ought to have your rollback privileges revoked since it's pretty clear you don't pay attention to the crucial details in your reverts. 24.18.46.102 (talk) 20:39, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Sorry about that. In the new program I am using it doesn't tell me details of why you blanked a page. Instead of blanking a page you should put in a "Cleanup" template. I will remove the warning from your page. But your blanking will not be undone. I will look for the aproipriate template to use.
  • Maybe you should quit using your new program, because it appears to be doing more harm than good. Instead of putting templates on articles, I'm generally in favor of fixing whatever the problem is, which I did, and which you then undid. I did not blank anything, I removed a section which was unencyclopedic and in clear violation of WP:TRIVIA. It ought to be removed and kept out of that article permanantly. 24.18.46.102 (talk) 20:44, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Removal of entire section of Opera house article

edit

Is there some reason why you appear to have arbitrarily removed the entire "History" section of this article - with no justification on the Talk page? Viva-Verdi (talk) 01:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • No...I think that was the last edit before I went to see some TV. I put the history section back which was deleted. Sorry. I have been having A LOT of glitchs with huggle today. (See above.) As of this moment i will reduce huggle to a minimum and use twinkle and lupin. Edit: After a investigation I have found that User:Melongeed was to blame. I had come in right after he deleted the section. I am sorry for the misunderstanding.Irunongames (talk) 02:08, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
From the sequencing, it looked as if you were the one who removed it. I'm sorry if I'm in error. Viva-Verdi (talk) 02:44, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tejturi Bazar

edit

Re: Tejturi Bazar: If you want to remove the proposed deletion templates, go ahead, but unless you beef up the article and provide evidence of notability, it will fail when it is nominated for deletion using the more formal AFD process. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 19:05, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thanks for the recent talk page reversion :)

ChrischTalk 15:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey again. Lol I actually had to Google this, because I'm running a program called Huggle - which reverts vandalism and warns/reports users with only one click... To manually warn people, try looking at WP:Template messages/User talk namespace :)

ChrischTalk 15:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Huggle is the best for vandals. The only bad thing is that people with huggle become vandal magnets
