Hello Pat, I just saw your reply on cleanup about the copyright status of Perspective Distortion, Source and the images included. (Welcome to wikipedia, by the way!). Since you're the copyright holder of the images, it's obviously OK for you to have uploaded them. I just want to make sure that you realise that images in wikipedia can be copied, and modified and distributed etc (with credit). If you are happy for this to happen, it would be helpful to others if you said so on the image pages. A quick way to do this is to type {{msg:GFDL}} in the picture description page - that will print a message on the screen saying that you're happy for it to be released under the GFDL license. Alternatively, you could place the pictures in the public domain, but then no one would have to credit you, etc.

Does all this make sense?  :) You can see on this page a diagram I drew yesterday. I said what the image was, and where it came from (ie, I typed "this was drawn by ~~~", and it signed my username for me), and I also included {{msg:GFDL}} (which displacys as This image is licenced under the GFDL. See Copyrights.), so the description of the image makes it clear who can use it and when. Feel free to reply to me here, or on my talk page, and I'll try to explain if there's anything you need help with or don't understand.  :) fabiform | talk 01:40, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Thank you Fabiform for the helpful suggestion which I have implemented for all eight images. As a side note, it appears users cannot just search for "Perspective Distortion" and find my article; they have to search on "Perspective Distortion, Source" which it seems they are unlikely to do. Any thoughts?
Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. The problems you are having searching for Perspective Distortion are due to the fact that full-text search is disabled at the moment. It should be back on soon, which means searching for Perspective Distortion would bring up the Perspective Distortion, Source article as well. Angela. 09:56, Feb 1, 2004 (UTC)

Hello and welcome! I'm glad you liked my alterations to your diagrams on Orthographic projection - I was intending to just reduce the resolution and size a little, but thought a little color might make them easier to understand. I've added color to both of them, so if the first one is still showing up without color, you may need to reload the page or clear your browser cache to get the new version to show up. Nice diagrams, by the way. -- Wapcaplet 21:06, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

You make a valid point about the existing contradiction in the new merged article at Perspective distortion; however, it seems to me that the topics are similar enough to be contained in the same article (feel free to disagree, since you are definitely more knowledgeable about it than I am). I think that with sufficient re-working, it shouldn't be a problem to have it all in the same place. Perhaps the article should be about perspective distortion in general, with a mention of the specific example of it occurring in photography. -- Wapcaplet 01:44, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I agree but deliberately avoided editing the site lest I step too heavily on the toes of the poster. I thought that if I just put in the correct info in another site that nature would take its way and that the original poster might correct his own site. But in any event, I would not want my work a part of a page that had known errors. My criticism is not about opinion which might share space with another opinion, of course. ..... Pat Kelso 01:56, Feb 25, 2004 (UTC)
On further reflection I accept the rationale (over my druthers) to include 'source' within 'distortion'. The original poster might yet see the contradiction between us and edit accordingly. Pat Kelso 17:03, Feb 25, 2004 (UTC)

I received your new images via email - thanks! I've been working on coloring them and cropping a bit; since these images (and all images on Wikipedia) may conceivably be used for non-English articles, it's generally a good idea to avoid having English text descriptions within the images, so I've separated your first two illustrations into three separate illustrations each, with appropriate labelling so readers can make the connection with the article text. Take a look at Perspective distortion and let me know what you think. I'm still working on the remaining illustrations, and should have them up in a couple of days.

As for stepping on the original poster's toes - don't worry too much about that. Here at Wikipedia we encourage everyone to be bold in editing pages; the edit history for every page is saved, so if any edits occur that someone else disagrees with, the previous versions are still there and can be re-incorporated into the article. If you find problems with any article, don't hesitate to jump in and improve it in whatever way you can! Everything here is GNU FDL licensed, so the whole idea is that everyone can, and should, help to improve articles. -- Wapcaplet 22:50, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Update - I've finished colorizing your diagrams, and have added them to Perspective distortion. I made a few minor adjustments to the text, but it could still use some work. It's shaping up to be a pretty nice article though! Drop me a line if you have any comments. -- Wapcaplet 19:12, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Bravo to date .....Pat Kelso 20:24, Feb 28, 2004 (UTC)

File upload problems

edit

Hi, File upload always seems to be a problem. The best way I found to deal with it is to upload a new image with a different name such as "eye retina Projection of Parallel lines diagram" and use that one in your edits. You can simple set the old (wrong) image for speedy deletion at the Commons by clicking the "Nominate for deletion" link. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 19:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I find that uploading using Wikipedia rather than Commons again works fine. Pat Kelso (talk) 22:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Pat Kelso. You have new messages at MatthewVanitas's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Also I've added a note at the top of your draft at Draft:Perspective projection, which I may have mis-entitled, so forgive if I've misinterpreted, but take that as a reminder of why explicitly clear WP:Lead sections are a must so that readers can immediately identify your topic.
