I took that photograph, I own the copyright.

Hello User:Wapacman. I posted a message to the Administrator Noticeboard at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Advice_on_images_please asking for advice on how to proceed. Please excuse me I would like to help you. Are the owner of the website at http://historicfilipinotown.weebly.com? Let us work together on resolving this issue because it does not look like advice on how to proceed is going to be forthcoming. PNGWantok (talk) 08:47, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I checked the site. We were at the same event and took photographs of the same dancers, but the one there on the website was taken from a different angle. I can take that down and replace it with a different photograph. no problem. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wapacman (talkcontribs) 09:39, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Will you be willing to assist with the Lae articles and surrounds?

thanks

Hello User:Phenss. Thank you for the message. I am currently pitching in to help to clear some backlogs which I hear about from time to time. I will get in touch with some people at Unitech and get them to contact you via your talk page. Perhaps they would be interested in helping. I am also happy to help from time to time. Are there any particular articles you have in mind? PNGWantok (talk) 08:39, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello User:PNGWantok

Thanks for getting back to me. When I first arrived in Lae, I wanted to improve the basic Lae page and create a heap of comprehensive village/suburb pages using my photos and other research. As a result I was awarded an Editor of the Week from Wikipedia.

Anyway my time here is fast coming to an end and I was hoping that you or your contacts can assist.

I really wanted Lae to be a GA nominee and for that I was after some assistance by;

  • creating a separate Lae History page using some more academic resources for the history.Hopefully using some German contacts and Japanese contacts
  • creating a new Geology page and researching the terrace and other geological landforms that are unique to Lae
  • expanding on the government/provincial section perhaps using Morobe provincial government to contribute
  • creating a new section in Lae called Mount Lunamen and taking the information from other suburbs to populate.
  • creating a new page for Angau hospital
  • updating all suburbs including:
    • Malahang
    • Butibum
    • Voco Point
    • Chinatown
    • Dowsett
    • Omili
    • Bumneng
    • Eriku
    • Bugandi
    • Buimo
    • Taraka
    • Tent City (Siti)
    • Bumayong
    • Situm Village
    • 3 Mile
    • 6 Mile
    • 9 Mile
    • Yalu
    • Munum Village
    • Nadzab

It would be great if you can ask your contacts in Unitech. The Lae pages have the potential to be featured pages and put Lae and PNG in international fame, especially as the 100 year aniversary for World War 1 is here and PNG was instrumental in this conflict.

cheers and wish you well

Speedy deletion declined: User:1archie99/Artvoice

edit

Hello PNGWantok, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:1archie99/Artvoice, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:20, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello User:FreeRangeFrog, I am sorry about that. I must have misclicked the button. I will nominate that for deletion at WP:MFD. I hope there are no issues with my other speedy deletions; I see your name quite a bit on my watchlist. Thanks, PNGWantok (talk) 06:53, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

ESEAP Conference 2018

edit

Hello,

I’m Biyanto from Wikimedia Indonesia who organized ESEAP Conference. ESEAP Conference 2018 is a regional conference for Wikimedia communities throughout the ESEAP region: ESEAP stands for East, Southeast Asia, and Pacific. Taking place in Bali, Indonesia on 5–6 May 2018, this is the first regional conference for these Wikimedia communities.

East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific are the most under-represented regions within the Wikimedia community. There is a significant number of Wikimedia contributors in our regions, yet we continue to struggle in establishing a well-managed community. This conference will bring participants from various ESEAP communities together in order to better understand the issues and to look for solutions. It also aims to connect people of the Wikimedia movement within ESEAP regions, to share ideas, and to build regional collaborations that are impossible to achieve through online communication.

We’ve got a lot of participation from several countries, but we’re lacking from your country. As we need more participants from your country, we believe that your contribution and participation would be a valuable asset to the success of this event. If you would like to participate in the conference, please do fill the form as soon as possible (by April 5, 2018) and we’ll inform you if you get selected for the conference.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon. --Beeyan (talk) 17:03, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
