Help with AfD

PAStheLoD , there is currenty an AfD that we really need a native Hungarian to help with. Would you mind? Jean-Pierre_Ady_Fenyo (AfD Discussion). ... for your help on the Kingdom of Hungary. If you have five minutes, could you also take a look at this 1945 publication ? I believe it also mentions the Kingdom of Hungary as a form of government, so this would mean that Szalasi never actually abolished it. Oh, this one has even better quality. Nice. It doesn't explicitly mentions the "Kingdom of Hungary", uses the phrase "Hungarian State" (magyar állam), or I've missed it. However, every almost every paragraph contains references to "something royal". For examples: Szöllősi Jenő as Royal deputy prime minister, Hungarian Royal Ministry (semantically: Department of the Hungarian King). Szálasi is mentioned very elegantly just as Nation Leader or plain "Szálasi s.k." (s.k. meaning "saját kezűleg" - by his own hand). So, formally Hungary was still a monarchy, but considering, monarchy means "the rule of one", it actually fits. PAStheLoD (talk) 19:58, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I've got a little too much on my hands :) Yes, "m. kir. X" (magyar királyi X, the -i suffix makes Royal (adjective) from King (noun)) means "Hungarian Royal X", and standalone it means exactly Kingdom of Hungary as you've inferred. Thanks a lot. I'll wait for a few days, maybe until the end of next week, to see if any other opinions emerge, and then I'll try to correct the articles. I'll also try to include the list of the ministers of the "Szálasi-kormány". I'm going to ask for your help for - I hope - one last time, as I need your help to translate some of the ministers' fuctions. I think "Miniszterelnök-helyettes" means "Vice-Prime minister", is that correct ? Could you please tell me what the following titles mean :

• "Igazságügy-miniszter"
• "Földművelésügyi miniszter"
• "Kereskedelem- és közlekedésügyi miniszter"
• "Iparügyi miniszter", "Közellátásügyi miniszter"
• "Tárca nélküli (a nemzet totális mozgósításával és harcba állításával megbízott) miniszter"
• "Tárca nélküli (nemzetvédelmi és propaganda-) miniszter"
• "Tárca nélküli (a termelés folyamatos vezetésével megbízott) miniszter"
• and "A nemzetvezető munkatörzsének országos munkarendvezetője és a személye körüli tárca nélküli miniszter".

No problem, really. So, feel free to ask me anytime you need some Hungarian translated/interpreted.

• Miniszterelnök helyettes = "Deputy Prime minister" (I belive Vice- as a prefix is a rank in itself, while being a deputy is theoretically just a function, however, I'm not familiar with the style recommended by Wikipedia for translations, when there's no direct equivalent. Also, in Hungarian the prefix "al-" is the equivalent of vice- (and sub-) as in "alelnök" (vice-president), "alezredes" (liteunant colonel, literally sub-colonel), "alvállalkozó" (sub-contractor).

• Igazságügyi miniszter = Secretary for/of Justice branch. (Not a Supreme Judge however, probably the Attorney General)
• Földművelésügyi miniszter = Secretary of Agriculture
• Kereskedelem- és közlekedésügyi miniszter = Secretary of Commerce and Transportation
• Iparügyi miniszter" = Secretary of Industry
• "Közellátásügyi miniszter" = Secretary of Public care (From: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=111902&start=30#p1009617 )
• "Tárca nélküli (a nemzet totális mozgósításával és harcba állításával megbízott) miniszter" = "Minister without department in charge of the full-scale mobilization and arming of the Nation"
• "Tárca nélküli (nemzetvédelmi és propaganda-) miniszter" = "Minister without deparment for Nation Defense and Propaganda"
• "Tárca nélküli (a termelés folyamatos vezetésével megbízott) miniszter" = "Minister without deparment in charge of the continuous oversight of production"
• "A nemzetvezető munkatörzsének országos munkarendvezetője és a személye körüli tárca nélküli miniszter", well, this is a bit complicated, because the word "munkatörzs" isn't properly defined even in Hungarian, it's something like a brigade, literally "work-trunk". It means implementing the Party's ideology, via research, debate, and other intellectual work. And the second part, is practically a personal assistant/adjutant position, only with sufficient powers to efficiently handle matters for Szálasi. So I'd translate it as: "The country-wide Work-Leader of the Nation Leader's work group and the minister without department for His person." PAStheLoD (talk) 13:02, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome! Regarding the translation of this strange position/title, I would say go for it. I don't know of any English source, or translation with authority for this, so it doesn't matter as long as it clearly conveys the content/meaning. PAStheLoD (talk) 09:41, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for your help. I have corrected and renamed Government of National Unity (Hungary). Of course, this article still needs work (and so does Kingdom of Hungary (1920-1946); I hadn't noticed that this one was so poor) but I think it's in better shape (and certainly more accurate) now.
