WikiProject Military history: Coordinator elections
edit--Loopy e 04:42, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Loopy. Oberiko 00:24, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Hey, Oberiko. I think you have a good point (re: qualifications for coordinatorship). I now see a specific role my talents and interests can aid the Military History WikiProject, and so I've decided to withdraw my candidacy for Coordinatorship. I appreciate your comment, it was very well taken. Thank you! Guapovia 22:41, 30 January 2006 (UTC) :)
- Not a problem at all Guapovia. Oberiko 02:00, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Oberiko, re [1], did you know that there were more than two entries? —Quarl (talk) 2006-02-02 15:28Z
- No, sorry, I didn't see more then two when I got there. I banned the users and then edited the page to remove the two entries that I saw. I must have cleared the others without noticing that others had been added since I first went there. My apologies. Oberiko 22:55, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I suspected that is what might have happened. I just wanted to make sure they didn't fall through the cracks, so you might want to add them back or block them if they are still vandalising. (The one I added seems to have stopped vandalising now.) —Quarl (talk) 2006-02-03 03:46Z
Wikimedia Canada
editHi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 04:29, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Thank you!

Image copyright problem with Image:Type99Rifle.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Type99Rifle.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Dethomas 15:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Crusader tank III.jpg
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Crusader tank III.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 19:29, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Fixed. Oberiko 20:36, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
References Norwegian Campaign
editHi - Feel free to shift them where they fit in the article, and feel free to contact me if you would like to know something that is written in them, or would like a scan from Ziemke's book (which I believe is US Govt copyright). All the books I added are good sources for the campaign, and highly recommended reading. Keep up the good work. Andreas 20:41, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Something for you...

I need a second opinion.
editI realize that you are a World War II guy, but I need a second opinion on an edit done to the American Civil War Page. Most of the edits posted to the page by User:64.251.55.130 are odviously vandalism. Yet, one of the dits I am not so sure. He post a link to an article to support his claim and that article appeared to be form a decent source. I nned a second opinion and since I know you are on I picked you. Could you look at the for mention article a tell me whether you think all of User:64.251.55.130 's edits should be reverted or should I leave thew edit with the article attached to it? Thank you for your Time. God Bless (Steve 15:46, 21 March 2006 (UTC))

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue I - March 2006 | |
|
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in. Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. Image Tagging Image:Tenshinhan photo.jpg
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Tenshinhan photo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ReyBrujo 04:18, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

37mm vs 3.7cm
editWhile it's true that WE use mm, the Germans did not. I can understand the name change if the article were to be called "german 37 mm anti-aircraft gun", but since the name itself is in German, shouldn't it be the way they said it? Maury 19:22, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well in the case of the 88, the name has been basically translated to english, so I guess its appropriate. Perhaps the best solution is to come up with some more generic name for the 37's as well, considering that the article covers all of them just like the 88. Suggestions? Maury 19:27, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome

Summaries
editWhen editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -Localzuk(talk) 17:15, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Block
editI see that you have blocked me from editing certain pages — but not, strangely, all pages — owing to my IP address being identical to that used by one Naruto Uzumakian, a persistent vandal. Since I have never vandalised anything on Wikipedia, would you be good enough to remove the block?
alderbourne 01:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks for the prompt reply, posted to my user talk page. The problem seems to have been resolved without your help, however.
Your revert of Stephen Colbert etc article
editCould you please provide an explanation why you reverted to a vandalised version of today's featured article? You seem to be an editor in good standing, so please assure me that it was some kind of mistake. Metamagician3000 03:02, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
