Nikki Phoenix article

Thanks so much for putting this article back up! Could you please check it and remove anything you think is fluff or too autobiographical? I would like to get the warning at the top removed that was put up by another editor, but am glad to see that the article survived notability from his check also! JasonFX article

edit

Hi, just read this article. I'm a bit concerned about it because it doesn't cite any non-self-published sources (that the designer didn't write).

People who have Wikipedia articles on them need to be 'notable'. That's a link to a guide, but basically it means covered in the media or in reliable sources they didn't write. Are there any news articles or website features on this person available? I'm concerned since the article may get deleted if not.

If so just edit the article and add citations using the cite tool. If you've got any questions just reply below this and I'll try to get back to you. Blythwood (talk) 07:54, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Thanks for the heads up, I'm a little bit new in here and was concerned about the notability after reading all the guidelines. However, I will try to get even more references. OGfromtheGut (talk) 15:16, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Yamaguchi先生. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Meek Mill, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. File permission problem with File:Dejuan Lucian.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dejuan Lucian.jpg, which you've attributed to Dejuan Lucian. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:37, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the speedy deletion tag and added an {{OTRS pending}} template to the page. Deletion pending for File:Dejuan Lucian.jpg

edit

Hello, OGfromtheGut. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Dejuan Lucian.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:44, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ayaan Chawla (businessman)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ayaan Chawla (businessman), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Ayaan Chawla

edit

There has been a long and disruptive history of attempts to push articles about this person. For a summary, see User talk:Vinay089#Ayaan Chawla - the advice I gave another user who wanted to write about him. The title has been "salted" (protected against creation) because of all this trouble, and you cannot get around that by varying the title. Rather than delete your page, I have moved it to Draft:Ayaan Chawla where you can work on it. Do not post it directly, but when it is ready click the "submit" button to send it for review by an uninvolved user.

The references there now are not enough to show notability in Wikipedia's sense. Press releases do not count; interviews do not count for much, because they are the subject talking about himself. Just getting an award is not much. Anyone can set up companies and make himself CEO and set up websites, but what have any of these companies achieved? What is needed is someone independent of Chawla writing about him and his achievemenst in some depth. See WP:Notability (summary). To quote an experienced user in one of the deletion reviews: "Notability has to be for something, and if there are references expressing coverage for nothing much, it doesnt belong in an encyclopedia."

Please note that if you are employed or paid by Chawla, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest in any edits where you have a WP:Conflict of interest. JohnCD (talk) 20:47, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Because we have had so much trouble with sockpuppets pushing Ayaan Chawla, anyone who wants to write about him is now regarded with suspicion. I have listed your name at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ron Gates with a request for a WP:Checkuser investigation, which will use technical means to determine whether your account is linked to the previous socks. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ron Gates.

I am sorry that this is necessary, but this case has caused a great deal of disruption and wasted time, and we need to make clear that people cannot use Wikipedia for publicity purpose by persistently setting up more accounts. If you are not "Ron Gates" the checkuser will make that clear. JohnCD (talk) 20:59, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Dejuan Lucian, Photography.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dejuan Lucian, Photography.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:48, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of JaxonFX

edit

The article JaxonFX has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. The given sources are not reliable and do not serve to verify the article's content.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DJ Many

edit

You asked for DJ Many to be unprotected. I'd advise you to create a draft article in your userspace; when there's a valid article we can go about moving it into articlespace. Please also take a look at the Terms of Use and make sure you comply with the disclosure requirements laid out in the section on "Paid contributions without disclosure". One additional reference you may want to use is this, but extreme care must be taken since the LA Times carefully avoids to endorse any of DJ Many's claims.

On another note, if you want a page to be undeleted, there's WP:DRV; to unprotect it, WP:RPP would be the appropriate venue. Asking random admins, particularly ones not previously involved in the page, is much less likely to succeed. Huon (talk) 17:48, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Lucky89 Casino & Resort

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lucky89 Casino & Resort requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Mark Haapala.png

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Mark Haapala.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

That license appears to be for "use" on "Wikipedia". It's much too narrow for our purposes; we need it for "commercial use and modification" "everywhere".Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:04, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes! I have a license for all that. Where can I send it to? OGfromtheGut (talk) 15:13, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
WP:OTRS would be the place. Or the photographer could send it in via the procedure described in Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:27, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
