editIf you find a page with an incorrect title, then the technique to use is to "Move" the page. "Cut and paste" moves lose the edit history of the previous article. -Will Beback 20:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Is there a typo in this article? First paragraph is about Pratt, but the second starts out talking about someone named Henry W. Palmer. I know you've been doing a lot of congressmen. Some other congressman's name? I happened to stumble on this one, thought I'd let you know. Fan-1967 19:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I use cut and paste to save me some time and achieve consistency, but every so often I miss a required change.Npeters22 19:20, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Userpage
editI came across some of your congressional articles and am glad you are contributing in this area. I note on your userpage that you are trying to get an article done on every Pennsylvania Congressman "from the US Civil War to 1900" but then you list several 20th-century Members. Is "1900" a typo, or did you expand the scope of your work? (Also, Rep. Hoyer's first name is "Steny" with one "n".) Best regards, Newyorkbrad 18:18, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing. I had been working on the Congressmen from 1900 to WWI most recently, but I completed that project just today. The last one was Samuel A. Davenport added at 17:18, 25 August 2006. I try to work in a managable time period, but also will drift off in random directions if a subject interests me or I get into a "Tetris" mode of editing. Sometimes I just hate seeing that spot of red in a sea of blue. Npeters22 19:37, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with you -- some of my own biographical articles get started for the same reason. Regards, Newyorkbrad 19:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

You seem to be the keeper of this article. That's why I'm coming to you. The reps need more than just color-coding for parties (although the colors are good). Each rep should have a party abbreviation. See United States Congressional Delegations from Massachusetts, for examples. Thanks! —Markles 20:43, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
I've found a nice, reliable, online source for getting the names of the people in Congressional delegations: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/serialset/cdocuments/hd108-222/index.html , but I'm not sure how best to incoporate it into the many, many articles we have that could use it as a reference. Isaac Van Horne
editHi, I seem to be having a bit of trouble adding info to his biog. He was a member of Congress from Bucks Co. before and maybe during the first year or so that it met in DC. Then he went West and became really perhaps as important in Ohio. His biog info has aleady been kind of a fuss, as the Congress Website folks dug in their heals after they made a typo in his place of residence, and wouldn't even accept that they have the correct info in their own Library. IVH was b Solebury Bucks Co PA and lived there until 1805 when he went to Ohio, also I've got quite a bit more info on him, since he wrote an autobiography and was Adjutant General of the Ohio Militia during the War of 1812, was a founding member of the Society of Cincinnati, and President of a number of Businesses in the then State Capital of Ohio (Zanesville) any help here appreciated John5Russell3Finley 00:01, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Sporting clubs established in 1911
editHi Npeters22. FYI, I have reverted your recategorisation of Indianapolis 500 and Porto-Lisboa from Category:1911 establishments to Category:Sports clubs established in 1911 on the basis that there articles describe sporting events rather than clubs/teams. I'm happy to discuss further if you like. (For example, I would support these articles being moved into a category called "Sporting events established in 1911" but I'm not confident that such categories would contain sufficient articles to make them worthwhile). Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma
editA {{prod}} template has been added to the article Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Rambutan (talk) 16:58, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think that anybody would wish to read about it; I don't think it passes the notability policy - just because it's part of something notable doesn't mean it's notable itself (notability is not inherited).--Rambutan (talk) 17:09, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I admit it is a stub, but by including it in the encyclopedia, it should encourage others to add more information. I do provide source information. And there is definitely interest in the topic. If you do a search on Google, you will find many links to Catholic and other religious organizations regarding this Diocese. To people interested in missionary work, individual dioceses in Africa are defineitely notable.Npeters22 17:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma
editRoman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Roman Catholic Diocese of Bungoma during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Rambutan (talk) 07:46, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Sources
editThe two sources I did remove were personal website projects and did not meet the criteria for WP:RS. The source I did leave was the official website for the Apostolic Prefecture of the Falkland Islands. And btw once challenged the onus is actually on you to demonstrate their validity, not for me to justify their removal. Justin talk 17:35, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Please decscribe the exact point of you objection to your sources, since the term personal website does not appear in WP:RS. Are you claiming these sources are not scholarly, not objective, extremist, or some other objection? I don't see where sites admitting to a primary webmaster should be rejected as a source.Npeters22 (talk) 02:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why do they need to be included? They're personal websites and neither reflect the official website. Justin talk 12:56, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Isn't that the reason why you would have multiple sources? In this specific case, the other sources provide the statistical information about the prefecture (population, size, etc.) as well as a clearer explanation of the prefecture's lineage than what is provided by the "offical" webasite. Finally, I have used these sources in other situations, so I do want to understand your objection. "Personal" websites (the term is not used in the WP:RS, so I am assuming you mean Self-published sources) are allowed if the person publishing is an extablished expert in the field. I would argue these are both secondary sources compliled by experts in their field.Npeters22 (talk) 14:56, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- You've hit the nail on the head, they're self-published sources, I'm not convinced of the expertise given they get facts like the name wrong. Justin talk 15:07, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry? The name is correct in both sources. The name is properly written in Latin, so there can be a little difference in the translated name. What do you think the proper name is?Npeters22 (talk) 16:16, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you are referring to the "o Malvinas" or the "seu Malvinis", this is because the name in Latin is essentially "Apostolic Prefecture of the Faulkland Islands or the Malvines." I assume this is because of the Faulkland Islands War. Vatican translations into English often use "o" as a linkage. I have no idea why. Nonetheless, in practical usage English Speakers call it the "Apostolic Prefecture of the Faulkland Islands". Npeters22 (talk) 16:37, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:50, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Invitation to join WikiProject United States
editSpeedy deletion nomination of List of Armenian dioceses
editA tag has been placed on List of Armenian dioceses, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashot Arzumanyan (talk • contribs) 18:34, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

editSince you are one of the editors in the Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Carnegie Mellon University, I'd like to invite you to the Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop that will take place at CMU on Aug 15 (this workshop is open to general public, and is a joint imitative of CMU and Pitt). There will be another workshop held at Pitt in the Fall as well. It will cover how to include Wikipedia in one's course (WP:SUP) and also how to become a Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors. Pennsylvania has currently only one ambassador (myself) and it would be great if we could recruit at least several more. Ambassadors help course instructors, showing them how Wikipedia works, and interact with students. Many current ambassadors come from the body of students, faculty and university staff; it is a fun adventure, and adds to one resume/CV, to boot :) If it sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions, or to come to the workshop.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 20:16, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:27, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Diocese of Moosonee
editThe article Diocese of Moosonee has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unnecessary disambiguation page. Redirects to the actual disambiguation page, and no pages link to this page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Bill W. - This PROD notice was placed in error and has been removed. Sorry for the confusion. — Bill W. (Talk) (Contrib) (User:Wtwilson3) — 14:32, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

- (Solved) Hi, Npeters22. Excuse me, sorry to have bothered you here with my beginner's problems. (It was only a minor technicality about how to add a Gutenberg-Link.) --176.4.7.228 (talk) 21:02, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Catholic-Hierarchy.org
editHello. I noticed that you have edited a number of articles on Catholicism. A discussion is taking place as to whether the website Catholic-Hierarchy.org is a reliable source that can be utilized on Wikipedia or whether all references and information derived from it should be deleted. This topic is currently being discussed at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard [1]. As the website's removal as a reference will affect several thousand Wikipedia articles, I believe that the broadest range of opinions should be obtained before action is taken. Please contribute if interested.Patapsco913 (talk) 22:07, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about James M. Russell
editHello, Npeters22, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Missionedit, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, James M. Russell, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/James M. Russell.
You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Missionedit}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

The article Mud Island Shoal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NATFEAT. "Named natural features are often notable, provided information beyond statistics and coordinates is known to exist. [...] If a Wikipedia article cannot be developed using known sources, information on the feature can instead be included in a more general article on local geography. For example, a river island with no information available except name and location should probably be described in an article on the river". The small island seems to be of little significance, with no hope of expanding it to an encyclopedic article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
