Cool, thank you for your tips, Infrogmation! Noosphere 00:46, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
-- Hey there. Yeah, the article says the ruling was turned down, but it doesn't say the Dems were involved. I'll genericize it. Thanks! -- RyanFreisling @ 08:02, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC) Check the other source, the one at the top of that mini-section. It points to the article which states, in the first three paragraphs, that those ballots will be counted...[1] -- RyanFreisling @ 15:49, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
salvia
edithi noosphere, I was wondering why you removed that little bit about how combining salvia divinorum with other drugs is a bad idea. it doesn't seem "dangerous"- it says that combining it with anything, even tobacco, makes it work less well; this isn't encouraging reckless behavior but doing the opposite. I'd also say that it isn't misinformation; users do report this. perhaps it should be put back after rewording, perhaps just adding that while combining drugs lessens the effects of salvia, this doesn't make it a "safe" thing to do? thanks, --Heah 20:45, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Hi noosphere, I understand the often multiplicative effect of combining drugs and the dangers of combining recklessly. If the information is wrong (and i have no doubt that you've come across reports suggesting otherwise) then it certainly shouldn't be there. My point was only that telling people that combining salvia with other drugs makes the salvia not work so well doesn't seem like it would encourage them to combine it- but, of course, i may be wrong; and as i said, if it was to stay, it should make it clear that a lessening of perceived effects doesn't in any way make it safe.
- Anyways, your points are well taken- it certainly shouldn't be implied that this is a safe thing to do, and without citations its all just heresay and has no real place in the article. I didn't put it there, but I honestly do think that that bit of info is essentially correct- Salvia is a very strange substance, and seems to work much much differently when, say, you're partying, than when used under the right circumstances with the right intentions; cross tolerances seem very odd too, apparently even having smoked pot in the few days before using salvia will make it much less effective . . . but thats only from my own very limited experience and conversations with others, certainly nothing that could or should be applied as a blanket generalization. Unfortunately there aren't really any studies to work from . . .
- If you have an interest in helping out with such articles, a WikiProject on Hallucinogens, Entheogens, and Related Topics has recently been started up. Diverse inputs and fields of knowledge are needed; I personally approach all this from a much more entheogenic pov (hence my own take on salvia) and don't have much knowledge when it comes to chemistry, etc. you should check it out if you are interested.
- thanks! --Heah (talk) 00:17, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
