Portal:Military of the United States/U.S. Uniformed Service Officer Rank Badges

edit

Could you make two more rows of ranks for this portal? As you know the United States has severn federal uniformed services that commission officers. Could you please add/create the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps to this? I don't think the average Joe and Jane know that the government doesn't just use these naval rank for the Nay and Coast Guard. I would do it myself but I do not know how you created this and I don't want to mess up your hard work. Thanks. Neovu79 (talk) 06:16, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified Source(s) for HAZMAT Images

edit

Thanks for uploading:

I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 01:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rebuttal to Unspecified Sources

edit

The above mentioned graphics are the work of a government agency (U.S. DOT) and not copyrighted, so I don't think sourcing applies beyond what I've indicated.

It would be best to provide a link to the website that you got the images from (or any other means you got them, like via email). Please link to a HTML page with the image on it. It is not enough to state "I got it from <x government agency>." as the source cannot be verified then. MECUtalk 16:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hazard F.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hazard F.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:51, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:USA WO 1 (test).svg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:USA WO 1 (test).svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:USA WO 1 (test).svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. U.S. Army User Rank Badges

edit

Just so you know, I moved this page to Template:U.S. Army User Rank Badges. Pages such as this should not be in the article space. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:52, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Nickersonl. I noticed you've added links to the above mentioned template to the branches of the US military. I've reverted them, because notices of that sort do not belong on the articles themselves. It would be best to post them on the individual talk pages, or perhaps on the Portal:Military of the United States talk page. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply here, I'll see it. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 18:36, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, I don't care what you do with it except do not put it into the article space. Pages such as that should be in the Template, Wikipedia (such as a WikiProject), portal or your userspace. Article space is only for articles. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 23:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is unrelated to the other discussion, but I noticed you uploaded Image:Al Faw Palace 1.jpg a few weeks ago. Are you over there now? I was on Victory in '05, my old unit (XVIII Airborne Corps) is there right now, in fact. Parsecboy (talk) 03:58, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:US Coast Guard E-1.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:19, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

All 3 of these pages are in the incorrect namespace. This is a good explanation of namespaces. The article namespace is the "main" namespace. Collections of templates are not for the article namespace. I know that you don't like them in the template namespace and that's fine. Honestly, maybe you should create a WikiProject for these pages. That is something many do when they have collections such as yours. This is the guide for that]]. For now, I'm going to move these into your userspace. So the pages would be at User:Nickersonl/ and then the page name. I'm doing this for your benefit because otherwise, they will probably be speedily deleted by someone else as being in the wrong namespace. If that happens, you will lose the pages entirely. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Nickerson Family Association

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nickerson Family Association, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --Michael WhiteT·C 18:44, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:My Mustang.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:My Mustang.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:08, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of White Truck (wine)

edit

The article White Truck (wine) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable wine brand of a red link winery with borderline notability itself.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AgneCheese/Wine 11:05, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Nickerson Family Association for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Nickerson Family Association is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nickerson Family Association(2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. GB fan (talk) 11:21, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
