Article Feedback Tool update
Hey Michaelzeng7. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:33, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
Bug Fix Issue
To Whom this may concern:
http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:Bird_Blues_in_Bb.png
Noteworthy does not read the upper time signatures. I know that this is true, because I had to manually write the accidentals in measure 6 for notes D, and B.
I'm unsure which program you used to compose music? Maybe you heard of Finale?
If you are using the same program then please add the accidentals for measure 6 notes D and B. I will forward this email to Noteworthy about this issue to see if we could get it resolved.
Sincerely,
Jae S. Yoo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsik87 (talk • contribs) 03:16, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Turbo Tastic nomination
Hi, you said that Turbo Tastic had a copyright infringement but http://sugaryrush.wikia.com is cc-by-sa so content is not infringing. Wikipedia editors can copy text from there to Wikipedia withe back link, license and credit. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:55, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello. It is my understanding that CC-BY-SA requires attribution, and the previous revisions of the page did not contain any backlink to Wikia or any notice that the content is from Wikia. Since the article has been redirected following a deletion discussion, we can no longer add such a notice. I thought it would make sense to just delete the copy/pasted content. NAC of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Vice Guide to Travel
Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Vice Guide to Travel, I would think that this should be closed as a No Consensus, not a Keep, as there clearly wasn't a consensus for keep either. Just something to consider next time. Livit⇑Eh?/What? 15:13, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip! The reason I closed it that way was because merging technically keeps the content, although moves it to a different location. Looking back, I think "no consensus" probably would have been more appropriate. Either way, there was definitely a consensus against deleting the content. Cheers! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 21:21, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Hello
Hi Michael (remember me?) I would like to nominate an article for deletion. I was wondering if you would be willing to help me? (as you may recall, I'm not quite familiar with the process) Anyways, let me know... Thanks - thewolfchild 18:47, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Good day, sir. I fondly recall you. ;) I like using Twinkle to nominate articles for deletion. It does all the hard work for you and includes many other features other than nominating articles. You can enable it by going to your "Preferences", and hitting the "Gadgets" tab. Mark the check next to Twinkle (under "Browsing") and then hit "Save". After that, you can go to the page that you want to nominate and you'll notice a "TW" tab up at the top next to your "Edit" and "Move" tabs. Hovering your mouse over it, select "XFD" from the drop-down menu that appears. This opens a pop-up that lets you input your rationale for deletion. For a list of valid reasons for deletion, check out WP:DEL-REASON. Most of the time, deletion occurs when the subject of the article fails the general notability guideline when no reliable sources about the subject can be found. If you have any questions, just ask! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 21:36, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
I'll check that out. Thanks. - thewolfchild 01:04, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Template WikiProject US
I just wanted to let you know that the reason that template has a type=sidebar is because its currently been nominated for deletion. The type sidebar parameter isn't on the template, its on the Nominated for deletion template. If you look at an article that contains the WPUS banner you will see the for deletion tag on the right side of the banner. I hope that helps. 71.178.250.15 (talk) 21:37, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- That's true. I thought it would be better if the "this template has been nominated for deletion" banner was above the whole template, instead of directly to the right of it. Michaelzeng7 (talk) 21:42, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- No problem I just wasn't sure if you knew why or the effect it would have. 71.178.250.15 (talk) 22:54, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Donating copyrighted material
Donating copyrighted material
Re.: Logo Watoto and Mekaela Academies.
Thanks for your suggestions. I have uploaded the logo again https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Amina_watoto.jpg but I couldn't place it under Commons because it would not let me upload "fair use" files, or at least it said they would be deleted immediately. I am not sure if I have done everything right this time. Anyway, I have added the logo the the Mekaela Academies Wiki Mekaela_Academies. If this still does infringe, please let me know. Nice day, Stefan 10:42, 29 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SW2001 E (talk • contribs)
- I apologize because I was unclear. The Commons is not for fair use files; instead, you should upload those locally to the English Wikipedia by using Wikipedia:Upload. Michaelzeng7 (talk) 14:22, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- As the process tends to be confusing at first, I have gone ahead and uploaded the image for you with a fair use claim. You can find it at File:Amina watoto logo.jpg. I have updated the article to include this image already. I hope this helps! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 14:29, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Opting in to VisualEditor
As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable
". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:19, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

"partial" at Pershing Middle School
About this edit by partial I mean the attendance boundaries of the school partly but not completely coincide with that of Pershing. So some students zoned to that school are also zoned to Pershing, but not all of the students zoned to that school are also zoned to Pershing. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:15, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note! I added a sentence that, I think, makes it more clear. Cheers! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 04:02, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you :) WhisperToMe (talk) 04:41, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
NAC at LaVon Gittens AFD
Your close was entirely correct, except that the AFD actually includes two related articles, one of which hasn't been deleted yet, so it's better if a sysop closes the AFD. Hopefully one of these days :) §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:12, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note! I didn't see it, and I'll make sure I look for it next time. Michaelzeng7 (talk) 01:26, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
