I understand your point on Rape and Pregancy

However, people have been claiming that rape doesn't cause pregnancy for years. This creates a rather interesting intercession of politics and science. I think it should have an article. Casprings (talk) 02:29, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment, I'll reply on the AfD page, as it probably belongs there. Thank you for being understanding and not taking this personally. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:35, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello Mr Vernon, Yes I am actually that person. I have read some pretty inaccurate info on myself over the last several years and now that I ahve joined all you computing gurus I set out to make accurate the info... starting with my date of birth! I would like to know if newspaper photos of us with George Bush and Ross perot would be admissable. Thank you for your prompt response. Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

Please know that I am a follower of the people and products of MythWurks and DO NOT receive any compensation for the work I do on their Wiki pages. I do it for fun and believe the people as well as the company should be commemorated for all that it has achieved.

Thank you for your understanding. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Masterofmyth2000 (talkcontribs) 02:38, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

  • This actually brings up a new concern with some of your edits. On this page you state that the image of Scheerer's book cover is your own work. If you are not Scheerer or the artist, then you cannot claim this as your own work. I noticed that you didn't do this on the one for Wikipedia, but please be aware that this isn't kosher to claim that it's your work when it isn't and it kind of looks a little bad. Although I will say that if you are the author or someone who works for the company, there's actually no set rule against you editing or adding anything. It just has to be non-promotional and be properly sourced. I've given a statement on the discussion, but I also want to warn just in case you're a little afraid of getting blocked or banned if you actually are part of the company or are Scheerer, it's better to be honest than to deny and have it come out later. I know you stated you aren't affiliated and after this I'll assume that you aren't affiliated unless proven otherwise, but I do want to put this out there.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 09:49, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm... So now, all the pages are up for deletion? Okay, I thought I navigated through the upload process correctly, but obviously I'm wrong. I emailed the people over at MythWurks and told them it was my fault that their page/s is being deleted, along with a few others that I made. I haven't heard back from anyone yet. So, at this point, Tokyogirl79, you can delete my account as well, as I see that Wikipedia is an exclusive club which gives you the power to discriminate against whomever you please, in the name of policy. I'm not coming back here, as I have put "HOURS" in to my edits and obviously it was a waste of my time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Masterofmyth2000 (talkcontribs) 02:38, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Do you see what happened there?

I agreed with your AfD nom for Rape and Pregnancy on the basis that it appeared to be an unencyclopedic political piece. It was clearly that. 95% of the content was talking about this dumb politician who was in the news. They author had a history of being blocked for edit wars in politically-oriented articles. But now the article is all prettied up and has references. An executive director of the wikimedia foundation has left a love note on the author's talk page (right under their edit war block notice) congratulating them for starting such a necessary and timely article, even though a dozen articles already dealt with the topic. It's crazy how politics and perception get stirred around and altruism gets twisted into cynicism. Now everyone who came out against it looks like an a-hole who wants to censor rape articles. Whatever... Guess the lesson here is don't go near stuff that's political nature. Someone once said to me: "don't wrestle with a pig because the pig will enjoy it and you'll just get dirty." Cheers! --MoonLichen (talk) 21:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, it's a much better article now, and I put thank-you notes on the people who improved the page by adding references and keeping NPOV. It's going to be hard to keep the article non-biased but that goes for a lot of articles, and I think the volunteers who completely redid the article will be part of the team that keeps that page up to par with Wikipedia standards. I'll be glad when this election is over, though!! --Mr. Vernon (talk) 00:41, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

i removed the photo. i am the one who took and uploaded the photo. i no longer wish to display it. it will be replaced with a better one.

under what circumstances may these photos not be displayed? they are my photos and i no longer wish to display them. they no longer meet the terms of use for wikipedia.

First, see if you can find your old account. If you can log in using that one, the one that originally uploaded the photos, you should be able to upload a new version of the photos. What I would NOT do is keep removing the photo from the page, since that counts as edit warring and you could be blocked. If you can't get access to your old account, create a new one and you can upload a new photo when you have one. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 19:51, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Ferret Squad

Hi, could you do me a favor? I can't create this page. I listed the article for deletion because it's about a non-notable film that isn't scheduled to be released until next year, and all of the sourcing is to what appears not to be a reliable source. If you would create the page, I can fill in the blanks. I would appreciate it. 69.62.243.48 (talk) 04:34, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Done. BTW I use an add-in called WP:TWINKLE which creates everything for me automatically, it's a LOT easier than doing it by hand. You do have to register but it's worth it, and you seem to be doing a good job on new page patrol so far. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 04:38, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Can non-signed-in people use it? Thanks for your help. 69.62.243.48 (talk) 04:38, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Unfortunately you have to register. But it's like one-click, then "fill in the blank" instead of having to modify two pages and create a third. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 04:39, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

My editing of Steve Woita's page

Hi Mr. Vernon:

I got your note about potential conflict of interest regarding editing my husband's page. I'm confused about providing edits in a user namespace page and then having you look them over. I would be inclined to paste in to User:Susanwoita the full current text of Steve Woita's page, then make edits that you can vet. However, I saw some info about not placing the full text of another page in my userspace, so I have not created User:Susanwoita page yet... Anyway, after looking at the pages that you have on the subject, I'm more confused than ever about how I can get you to vet edits that I make to the Steve Woita page.

Thanks for your help!

Susanwoita (talk) 00:25, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

The article Steve Woita isn't in user space, it's in article space, thus the COI notice. If you want, you can move the page to user space and edit it there (see WP:MOVE); alternatively, you can use WP:AFC and get some volunteers to help you out and avoid COI. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:07, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Nationalist political parties in Spain

Why you always categorize nationalist parties as "Neo-nazi" or "fascist", is not enough to put them in the category of "Far-right" and "Nationalist" ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.193.203.15 (talk) 05:50, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

I do not think all parties are that way. I would discuss on the talk pages first your proposal to remove them from these categories and why. Wikipedia works through consensus. Also, if there is nothing in the article that asserts (via a source) that they are fascist or neo-nazi, you could remove that categorization BUT you would want to note in the edit summary that you are removing those categories specifically because there was no proper assertion. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:54, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Don't threaten me

I gave a perfectly valid reason for my edit, which is that the link was to someone who was not notable. I do not appreciate being threatened and I don't appreciate been falsely accused. 68.190.166.40 (talk) 22:51, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

If you want to delete a page, go through the normal page deletion/merge process. That page has been around since 2009, you shouldn't get rid of it without some kind of WP:CONSENSUS. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 22:54, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
I didn't delete the page, I redirected it. And then you started lying and threatening me. Shame on you and your bullying tactics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.190.166.40 (talk) 22:58, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Why didn't you follow WP:CONSENSUS and propose a merge? Your edits would not have been reverted had you followed the established process Wikipedia has in place. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 23:00, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Show me where it says that someone can't redirect a page without seeking consensus first. Then show me where it says that it's not OK to remove links to a redirected page. Then show me where it's OK for an editor to falsely accuse another editor of disruption and vandalism.
You went from "just letting you know I undid one of your edits" to "stop your evildoing or I shall tell Mother" on a series of edits that a trained monkey could have seen were related to each other. Excuse me all to Hell for finding that heavy-handed and abusive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.190.166.40 (talk) 23:07, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
First, thanks for doing a PROD. That (or an AfD) is how you should have handled it in the first place. To answer your questions: Wikipedia:Deletion policy answers your first question; for your second, the article still exists as a redirect, and there's no reason to remove the link (as opposed to just changing where it redirects to.) Third, I didn't falsely accuse you, judging by your anger management issues. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 23:14, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Joan Buck

Please explain your vandalism on this page, you removed large quantities of sourced material. Manbumper (talk) 18:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Not sure what you are talking about. I was reverting vandalism by an IP who was removing content. My edit increased the size of the article. You may be confused as some of the links were moved around during the edit. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 18:16, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
If you check you will see that you removed large amounts of sourced material so please be more careful in future

Manbumper (talk) 05:38, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Let's all be a little careful what we call vandalism. The IP was making disruptive edits by removing sourced material and adding POV material. The IP's accusations of vandalism were absurd. Mr. Vernon's reversion of the IP's edit was proper (I already reverted once), but I wouldn't label what the IP did vandalism. Manbumper's reversion of Mr. Vernon's edit makes no sense as he is restoring the IP's edit and in fact, as Mr. Vernon states, removing sourced material. Manbumper, I think you should self-revert and put the article back to a clean state.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:46, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi

R.L. stine on his page is said that the Influence he got was from Ray Bradbury whats wrong with putting a famous Childrens horror writer on Ray Bradbury list of people he influenced? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.200.126 (talk) 06:30, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Nothing, but you listed Stine under "Genre." That's not really the best place on the page for it. I'm not sure where I'd put it - Bradbury was hugely influential, not just Stine but a ton of other authors. You may want to ask on Talk:Ray Bradbury if it's OK to put a list of "writers influenced by Bradbury" up. Thanks for contributing. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:57, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Article deletion

Hi,

I would like to have your comment on my issue. I have written an article on Rachel Quesney, which was deleted by wikipedia. The point is that I had also written the same article in French, on French wikipedia, and this one was fully accepted by wikipedia.

Given that the 2 articles are exactly the same (Translation, references, external links,...), I cannot understand these 2 different actions from wikipedia.

If I have missed something, could you give me the good insights? I really would like that the English article be undeleted...

Many thanks for your help.

Yours sincerely.

Hi, I am messaging you about the "Religious beliefs of the wealthy" section of the "Wealth and religion" article. The sources provided do not tell us the religious beliefs of most persons. Some sources are credible, but not all. What is the religion of Bernard Arnault? The linked source says he is a Christian. For all we know he could be a Buddhist or something. I just find that whole section based on speculation for the most part. The source should quote the person stating his or her religion, otherwise it is based on speculation. 99.229.34.56 (talk) 23:37, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

about R.L stine

The reason why I believe he should be on the list is because his books are well known and are just as popluar now as they were in the 90's and they were horror books for kids without pitchures and Yes he wrote other books of horror for kids and young teenagers 12-14 Thats why I believe he should be on because he is big and he brought children to read a man who made kids read should be on the list. thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.200.126 (talk) 04:52, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I understand but you put it where it doesn't belong in the article. If you want to create a section on who Bradbury influenced, I would go to Talk:Ray Bradbury and discuss it, because there are many authors that Bradbury inspired. By the way, I had the honor of seeing him speak a number of years ago, and he was an amazing man. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:22, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure where it would go. I'd avoid it because I'm tired of politics and don't want it to become yet another battleground. I only brought this article up because it looked like it was going to become an edit war. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 07:14, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter

Hey Mr. Vernon. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Orphaned non-free media (File:LP Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:LP Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 13:21, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

Hi Mr. Vernon,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
