Request for help on two articles

edit

Hello Mr.User200. I was wondering if you could help out with the Russian occupation of Kherson and Russian occupation of Melitopol articles. I am not really sure the best way to format the articles, since they are both fairly new and the only ones of their kind for the invasion, due to the ongoing occupational history of the cities. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Elijahandskip (talk) 21:37, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Of course. I´ll begin with Russian occupation of Kherson.Mr.User200 (talk) 21:38, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

List of Americans killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Removal of sources and figures for foreign fighters in Ukraine

edit

Check this out [4], the editor removed the sources and from the total counts 12 foreign fighters on the basis of unreliability and that they were not foreign. Shouldn't have been done that way. A number of them could have been maybe just replaced with more reliable sources, while at least in the case of the Greek soldier removed (he said he was Ukrainian) the source clearly says he was Greek-born and held Greek citizenship. We list dual-citizenship citizens and those who were foreign-born, like him. EkoGraf (talk) 14:39, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also made removals of entries on the lists of French [5], Colombians [6], Britons [7] and Russians [8] killed. EkoGraf (talk) 14:55, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Found a few alternative/additional sources for a few. Saw your edits as well, cool. He was correct regarding two people (a Croatian and a French) who he moved to the foreign civilians section, they were indeed there as aid workers it seems, not fighters. I couldn't resolve one Chechen/Russian [9], one Colombian [10], two French [11], one Albanian, one Croatian and one Spaniard [12]. Maybe you have more luck than me. Leaving these links at your talk here for future reference. EkoGraf (talk) 21:14, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok regarding the Croating International Legion combat medic and the 3rd Azov Albanian national didnt find any source. But there are conflicts on the news of the death of the Spanish YPG fighter. One source report him killed by Turkish forces in Syria See Here. So i think we should rule out the Spanish soldier and consider to wait in a future for a source regarding the Albanian and the Croatian.

Regarding the Russian Chechen there are several sources, and regarding the Colombian there is no source of him.Mr.User200 (talk) 00:51, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Its another Salman, one was from Sheikh Mansur(This one) and the other that have sources from Dudayev Battalion, anyway I found another 2 unreported losses from Sheikh Mansur. Check on both pages Casualties of .. and List of Russian fighting for Ukraine.Mr.User200 (talk) 01:18, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, there were two Salmans, but I haven't been able to find an alternative source for the one which the editor removed and was reported by https://news-kiev.ru/, great work on finding the 2 previously unlisted from Sheikh Mansur that we missed! :) EkoGraf (talk) 12:59, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you help me with the number of killed IDf soldiers in Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–present) The infobox does not have the same number in the timeline of events.Mr.User200 (talk) 01:29, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

US volunteers killed in Ukraine

edit

Hey there, regarding your edit here [14]. The Atlas report's figure includes the deaths of American civilians non-combatants. It states "Hamm joins the 47 other confirmed U.S. military veterans that have been killed in Ukraine as well as the five confirmed civilian U.S. volunteers that have been killed." Also, at the time of its publication, when I saw the Atlas report, I immediately recognised they were using the same figures that were on our (now-deleted) Wikipedia page of the list of Americans killed in Ukraine. At the time of Atlas' publication, there were 48 Americans listed in our Wikipedia article as killed soldiers, while 5 were listed as killed civilians (aid workers etc). Same figures Atlas reported. Also, I left the latest report you added regarding the missing guy who's body was now returned, but I am not entirely sure if it should be included. I saw the report myself earlier and didn't add it. Because of the possibility the unnamed soldier might be one of those we already counted as killed (named earlier). Up to you if you want to remove it now after my message. Cheers! EkoGraf (talk) 14:42, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Here, tried to clarify as one reference [15][16], although still not sure we should included that missing-body-returned since I still think he may be one of the eaerlier reported dead/named. EkoGraf (talk) 15:30, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems I was right, the US Army veteran whos body was retrieved was said to have died in a drone strike near Bakhmut last year and that a number of Ukrainian soldiers were killed trying to retrieve his body. We have Army vet Jericho Skye Magallon [17] who was said to have died in a drone strike near Bakhmut last year and that a number of Ukrainian soldiers were killed trying to retrieve his body. And then there is this from several days ago [18]. EkoGraf (talk) 21:50, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

New pro-Ukrainian foreigners killed

edit

Two new pro-Ukrainian foreign fighters killed confirmed only by non-RS at the moment - American[19] and Sri Lankan[20]. EkoGraf (talk) 15:15, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

.Sri Lankan - Done.

Curently US national (Michael Paul Maldonado) and Brazilian (Murilo Santos Lopez) without proper source.Mr.User200 (talk) 02:50, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Added source for Maldonado, the pro-Ukraine FB memorial (replaced a Russian news site from earlier), so it should be ok. Non-RS for Lopez [21] and we got a new one - Australian Brock Greenwood [22]. EkoGraf (talk) 16:54, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
