- ==Friendlier==
Hey iBen. I was wondering what modifications you made to friendly in friendlier; I'm considering using it! Also, have you heard of WP:DZ? Airplaneman talk 18:00, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, and about your sandbox... why do you link it in your signature if you don't want anybody editing it without your knowledge? It might be better to leave it out; that way, people are less motivated to edit it. Airplaneman talk 21:12, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, Friendlier adds more templates to the "tag" function. These include:
- {{ReOrganize}}
- {{Newsrelease}}
- {{Review}}
- {{Howto}}
- {{Overdetailed}} and more!
In addition, it adds come custom built welcome templates and has the ability for even more customization. I am working on using either {{wb}} or {{tbt}} instead of {{tb}} and going for a new interface. I may also create a custom Twinkle.-- iBen 00:33, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds great! I'll try it! Airplaneman talk 01:27, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I just came across your script and thought I'd give it a go. A custom Twinkle would be nice as well. Keep us informed. Dspradau → talk 02:18, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Roll Call for the Percy Jackson Task Force
We are holding a roll call to see who is still active and/or interested in the project. Please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Percy Jackson Task Force#Members for instructions.

Um...
Hello. I was just wondering, why are you using User:Airplaneman's talk page to test talkback templates? or are you doing something else, and I've got it all wrong? Just curious, Brambleclawx 02:35, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- I am testing my script; rollbacked it all. See User:iBen/Friendlier.-- iBen 02:38, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Marking deletion of a page unnecessarily
User:IBen/TalkMessageHeader|date=02:39, 14 February 2010 (UTC)|who=77.101.69.8 (talk)}} Hi IBen just wondering why you marked the page Stu Gaston for deletion? It's a page about a footballer who could be described as a hero in some people's eyes and is in the early stages of development. I believe it would upset a lot of people if this page were deleted. Could you remove the request please?
tagging of Small plot
User:IBen/TalkMessageHeader|date=17:10, 14 February 2010 (UTC)|who=DES (talk)}} You tagged Small plot as vandallism. it was, IMO an unsiutable articel, but I see no reason to assume that it was not added in good faith. I have used WP:PROD to propose its deletion, as far as I can see it does not fit any of the WP:CSD.
Please be more careful when patrolling to use speedy tags only when they apply by the terms of the speedy deletion criteria. Speedy tagged pages may be seen by only two sets of eyes, it is therefore incumbent on patrollers to do their best to tag accurately, let the reviewing admin not be as careful as s/he should be. I have mentioned this to you before.
I know you wish only to remove inappropriate pages from the project, but vandalism warnings on pages submitted in good faith may WP:BITE newcomers, and inaccurate tags may lead to pages being incorrectly deleted by mistake. Thank you. DES (talk) 17:10, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Tagging of Truck Drivin' Man
User:IBen/TalkMessageHeader The long list of notable artists who have performed Truck Drivin' Man is more than enough of a claim of significance to avoid an A9 speedy, in my view. DES (talk) 17:36, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Google Chrome Extensions Gallery
In regards to this article; you need to show why it is important before you can justify an article. Importance has not been shown. When the subject matter of a website isn't notable enough for its own article (extensions) the website itself is unlikely to be; furthermore, the references you have given are all primary sources (google themselves, the chrome dev blog, etc). Please either demonstrate third-party notability or leave the redirect alone. Regards, Ironholds (talk) 06:55, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Would the subject of Google Chrome Extensions be notable? Perhaps having a section on the gallery in the main article might be good.-- iBen 16:38, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- For the first one - you tell me. Really you should check articles are notable before creating them rather than after. For the second - unlikely. A section about the website that has copies of things discussed in another section? Ironholds (talk) 21:11, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it would be notable... See Add-ons for Firefox, which was why I thought that the gallery would be notable. It states (in the article) Add-ons for Firefox (formerly Mozilla Add-ons) is the official Mozilla Foundation website to act as a repository for add-ons for Mozilla software, including Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, and Mozilla Sunbird., so I think a combination between the website and the actual extensions would be ideal. What do you think?-- iBen 21:18, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- In reply to your concerns, Add-ons for Firefox describes an official Mozilla Foundation website to act as a repository for add-ons for Mozilla software, including Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, and Mozilla Sunbird. where Add-on_(Mozilla) describes an actual installable enhancement to the Mozilla Foundation's projects. Therefore, I think it is perfectly notable to have separate articles.-- iBen 21:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is certainly a valid argument </sarcasm>. Have you considered the possibility that that page is also inappropriate? Ironholds (talk) 08:39, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Um... Yes, I have "considered the possibility that that page is also inappropriate"... My point is:
- I will work on both articles in my Sandboxes
- Adding refs
- More content
- I will ask other editors before I recreate the page
How does that sound?-- iBen 00:13, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Works for me; again, in future, looking for refs should be done before you write an article, not after. Could you please remove the odd blue highlighting from your talkpage? It makes it very difficult to read and completely buggers up the WM javascript plugin. Ironholds (talk) 09:46, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi IBen. When you update Template:Vandalism information, please sign and date your change in the appropriate field even if you don't change the comment. At the moment, it looks like I dream of horses set the alert level to 2, but you did it. Also, please consider not putting the level too high. At the moment you changed it, I would have more considered putting a 3 and even a 4. The RPM is low, and the amount of spam article is not really high. If you are uncertain of the level to put in, simply describe it in the comment section! Please remember that when updating the template again. It is simply to ensure good continuity and inform other vandal patroller and NPP of what is really happening. Have a good day! --Stroppolotalk 18:01, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to invite you to a script of mine. I use it personally and I find it helpful! See User:IBen/npp! What it does is create a little box in the sidebar with an auto-updated list of newpages and when used with Twinkle, very powerful.-- iBen 01:22, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Cool, I'll try it out. I was just wondering if something better existed, cause Twinkle isn't perfect for NPP. I switched the page from g2 to g7, fyi. -Zeus-u|c 01:23, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Great! The script won't replace Twinkle, just aid the process.-- iBen 01:24, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

- What browser?-- iBen 04:05, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Whoa, cool! I guess it hadn't caught the new version yet. Now it catches the page refresh on patrol marking and puts it at the top (Firefox, BTW). -Zeus-u|c 04:07, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, you know what would be cool, is if you move the mark page as patrolled link to the top right instead of bottom (it's annoying to have to scroll down all the time and find it). and maybe shorten it? so it just says "patrol". -Zeus-u|c 04:11, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Much faster that way. Actually, there might be a tab if you go to the downward facing arrow in Vector that says "Partol." I still use Monobook because it has a lot of the scripts I like and they work.-- iBen 04:17, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

- First of all, instead of having 4 new pages there are many more. Therefore, you can patrol even more. In addition, I've worked a little on the interface and will update with more pretty looking eye candy soon. The npp2.js are some tweaks to the Special:NewPages page (making it a table) along with AJAX patrolling. For example, when you click "Mark this page as patrolled" instead of loading a new page, it automatically does it on the page. -- iBen 23:55, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: W. H. Diddle
Hello IBen, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of W. H. Speedy deletion declined: The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary
Hello IBen. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: has contents now. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 01:09, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I wish people would draft before creation of an article.-- iBen 01:17, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi IBen, Well some people have flakey connections - I think my current kit is reasonably stable but I've lost twenty minutes work or more before now, and the idea of the wiki is collaborative editing rather than drafting stuff elsewhere and submitting completed articles. But as it says at Special:NewPages "Note: articles should not be tagged for speedy deletion as having no context (CSD A1) or no content (CSD A3) moments after creation." I think you tagged that one just a minute after the first save, and you missed an infobox that contained much of the key content of the article. Also I'd suggest checking "what links here" before tagging A1 or A3, in my experience as many as half of A1s and A3s can be rescued with a quick check of the articles they link to. ϢereSpielChequers 01:40, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I draft in my sandboxen; why not have a great article before you show it to the world?-- iBen 04:53, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- This site is edited by a very diverse community with many different editing styles, and its important that we try and tolerate our differences. Drafting articles in a sandbox and only moving them to mainspace when they are "finished" is one way of working, but it isn't the only way, it is the reverse of the wiki way in which this site was built, it risks encouraging people to think they own articles, and it doesn't work for those who can handle the prose but need help with the formatting - or vice versa. However it is accepted as a valid method, is use by at least one of our best writers of Featured articles and you are certainly welcome to write articles that way yourself. However when patrolling Newpages please be aware that others have different but valid editing styles and that tagging things as A1 or A3 on the basis of the first sentence saved risks losing us the second sentence, and the new editor who contributed it. May I suggest that you consider patrolling Special:NewPages with the option set to 1 hour - by which time A1 and A33 are potentially valid tags? ϢereSpielChequers 10:29, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I use this script (which I wrote and adapted).-- iBen (talk) 21:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I'm a complete numpty when it comes to scripts, but if your script only shows you the very newest articles, please don't use the A1 and A3 tags. ϢereSpielChequers 21:54, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi IBen. I have fixed the The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary article so that CSD A3 does not apply. You might want to remove the speedy deletion tag. Thanks. --DanielRigal (talk) 01:10, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Don't worry. Somebody else already did it. --DanielRigal (talk) 01:13, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Article Protection
Hello, iBen! I was wondering HOW you protect a page (for example: SpongeBob SquarePants (character) is a protected page) so only registered users can edit it and it can't be moved. Thanks, Belugaboy Talk to Me! 13:58, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- See WP:PP. There are many types of protection. Is there an article you would like protected? Twinkle does a good job of reporting it to WP:RPP. An admin must do it. Pages are usually only protected if there is severe vandalism.-- iBen 18:41, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I was going to submit Kayavak for semi-protection as more and more IP addresses and anonymous users are making nonsense edits and I wanted to semi-protect it, but it was declined. Nevermind now. Belugaboy Talk to Me! 19:35, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of History of Google Buzz
I have nominated History of Google Buzz, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of Google Buzz. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Npdoty (talk) 22:59, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in posting this notification, but it took me a couple of minutes between adding the deletion notice, updating the deletion discussion page, re-adding the deletion notice after you reverted it and finally getting to posting this notification. Your contributed article, Picasa Web Albums Uploader
Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Picasa Web Albums Uploader. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Picasa. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Picasa - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Shashwat986 (talk) 23:40, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Loving the new Newpages feature. Could you perchance highlight the whole row, instead of just the time? That would be cool. Also, I see that you have the edit summary displayed, and I don't know if it's possible, but getting the first n content characters from the page would be really cool. -Zeus-u|c 04:51, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

- I draft in my sandboxen; why not have a great article before you show it to the world?-- iBen 04:53, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary

- That's okay. Glad to help!-- ❝ iBen✍ ❞ 19:36, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

- Hello, IBen. I saw you had withdrawn this AfD, so I took the liberty of non-admin closing it for you. Cheers, Intelligentsium 19:16, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello:
the significance is noted in the article: 25,000 page reads daily, monitored by Google News, frequently referenced in Wikipedia. Not sure how to do the {{hangon}} thing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alan Rycroft (talk • contribs)
- Please reference the stuff you're talking about and provide ghit links. In addition, you place {{hangon}} on the page under the deletion notice, not on my page.-- ❝iBen❞ 21:47, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of History of Google Buzz
Npdoty (talk) 22:59, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Just policy. See my comment.-- ❝iBen❞ 23:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay.
