Re: Sunfitters Beach Shop

edit

Hi, thanks for your message. Woops it seems you didn't get a notice for this deletion. My bad, I should have double checked. It was deleted on the grounds it was an article about a company that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject.. We have certain criteria companies need to meet to be included in Wikipedia. I invite you to read them, and you will see that selling an assortment of items essential for family beach travel that may be hard to find outside of a beach community does not exactly assert why it is notable. To be fair, find me some reliable secondary sources citing this shop and I will reconsider, but for now I don't think the article should be restored. Of course, you can seek a deletion review :). If you need further help, please don't hesitate to post on my talk page or to put {{helpme}} followed by your question on this page. -- lucasbfr talk 15:06, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

After reviewing your sources, all but the first fail to address the notability issue (they are just directories). The first one is more interesting, but still does not assert the significance of the subject. It even says that Sunfitters is a small business. Unfortunately we aim for high inclusion criteria due to -among other things- verifiability of the provided information issues. Of course, you can request a deletion review of my decision. Thanks for your time! I am copying this message on both your IP talk page and your user talk, to be sure that you don't miss it, due to the delay before it) -- lucasbfr talk 18:56, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Sunfitters

edit

A tag has been placed on Sunfitters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bsherr (talk) 09:19, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
