Sporting players
editHi - I've proposed that Category:Sporting players be renamed to Category:Sporting Clube de Portugal players as I feel the current name is too ambiguous. Your thoughts would be welcome - please see Wikipedia:Categories for deletion. Qwghlm 10:09, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
António Abreu
editI've first moved António Abreu to António Simões de Abreu because his father was also called António Abreu and was also a notable anti-fascist and communist militant and so, that would be ambiguous. You broke that logic with no explanation! Please, try to revert it, or at least move it to (António Abreu (son)) or something like that. Otherwise I'll do it myself. Regards. Afonso Silva 19:14, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
In Portugal, most people simply know António Abreu (son). This is the english spkeaking wikipedia, so I think it should remain António Abreu, simply, unless you had also a entry about his well known father ( that I confess, didn´t know). I didn´t broke any logic, I just tought his name wasn´t in the form he´s usually refered in Portugal. User:Mistico
That's the logic I followed in the beggining, after knowing about his father's death, two months ago. If someone creates an article about him what would be the name of the article? António de Abreu (Portugal) 2. And I really don't know the reason of puting "(Portugal)" after its name if no article with the name António Abreu exists. If people in Portugal don't use the full name they would be redirected until someone creates an article on his father, that's the aim of redirect pages. Regards. João Rodrigues
editI'd just like to make you aware that your January 21 edit to João Rodrigues Tçuzu changed the Japanese characters in the article into question marks - you should avoid using whatever editor or browser you used to edit that article, or at least check the diff after you make the change. You can see the diff at [1] - notice how the question marks have been highlighted in red, showing that there was a change made there in addition to the change to "Rodrigues" that you intended. It can be somewhat confusing because if you don't have Japanese fonts on your computer, the before and after will both appear as question marks to you, but the question marks on the right are "real" question marks whereas on the left they are Japanese characters that merely appear as question marks on your display because you lack the right fonts. I've fixed the article in any case. DopefishJustin 20:31, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Please cite
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Katie Holmes, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please find and add a reliable citation to your recent edit so we can verify your work. Uncited information may be removed at any time. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! --Yamla 00:35, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Katie Holmes left Catholicism to become a scientologist, wen she decided to marry Tom Cruise. It´s well known and it´s stated in the Wikipedia article that too. So, as you can see I have a reliable source for adding her to the Former Catholics category. It was an act of justice to her, and I didn´t do that in any anti or pro-catholic point of view. I sugest you to read the Wikipedia article about her again, to see how she can be considered a former catholic. Please tell me, can a person be a catholic and a scientologist at the same time ? Emil Nolde
editHello Mistico, I saw the merge proposal for the "Nolde" article and the "Emil Nolde" article. Whoever came up with the idea of having two separate entries in the first place? Sheesh. Anyhow, I don't know if you added the merge template at Nolde but there was none at "Emil Nolde" so I placed one there along with my vote to "merge." Ande B 22:09, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Page Blanking
editOn 3-May, you blanked Trifon Ivanov (footballer). Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. If this was the result of a broken edit, you may wish to make the correct edits. If you believe the page should be deleted, please follow the deletion procedures. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 02:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
As you can see the article about Trifon Ivanov(fooballer) is about the mae person as Trifon Ivanov, so I think it should be merged. User:Mistico
- I have redirected Trifon Ivanov (footballer) to Trifon Ivanov. If you find a similar case in the future, instead of blanking, you can redirect yourself or you can propose a merger. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 00:29, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Cunhal
editPlease, reference that with Cunhal's own work. The 1991 fact is true. The remaining are not true, at least, written that way. Carrillo and Berlinguer have nothing to do with Cunhal, not even close, not only in the ideological sense, but also in the political objectives. The last sentence about communist dictatorship is obviously an eternal non-NPOV questions. "Some people believe" is not a good way to present content in a neutral way. I'm not protecting Cunhal, I'm just eliminating unreferenced content, according to WP:OR. Cheers! Afonso Silva 23:23, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

editNice work with the article about Ruy Luís Gomes, I was going to create it after introducing a reference to the 1951 presidential elections in an article, when I realized you had already done it. editHi. Glad to be of assistance. The solution is subtle, but rather simple, though: you can type the letter/name with a diacritic in the editing window, and copy it to the new version in the move request. (As I'm sure you noted, all diacritics appear as clickable symbols at the bottom of your editing window.) Just in case you should find this info useful in the future. Image copyright problem with Image:FSweeney.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:FSweeney.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 01:29, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
The article states that he was the "trainer" of the National Team. What do you mean by trainer? In American parlance, "trainer" means an employee that makes sure everyone on the team is healthy. If that's what you are refering to, than the person isn't notable enough for Wikpedia's notability standards. But I suspect that the "trainer" you are refering to is something else. Please let know. editBy any chance, are you from Fiji, you seem to know a lot about Fiji Rugby players.? ..--Cometstyles 13:31, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
No, sorry ! I´m just doing my work at the Google search, we find material about these players at the official site of Fiji rugby union Federation. I´m from Portugal. I finished recently all the biographies of the members of the Portuguese squad that entered the 2007 Rugby World Cup finals. I decided also to finish Fiji team, because it reached the quarter-finals and all the 10 1 st tier teams have their 30 members squad bios completed.14:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 00:24, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
I didn´t knew that. I am sorry for my ignorance. But I totally understand. Anyway, both the templates I started I think are usefull, since there are plenty of rugby union players in Wikipedia from Argentina (currently 70) and Portugal (currently 34).Mistico (talk) 16:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Arajaryr Moreira de Campos
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Arajaryr Moreira de Campos, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Article doesn't assert the individual notability of the person. Only because she was close to someone famous, it doesn't mean she is famous as well.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Victor Lopes (talk) 01:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
She was the secretary and personal assistant of general Humberto Delgado, a national hero of Portugal. She was also murdered with him, in 1965. This tragic ending I think justifies her inclusion.Mistico (talk) 22:10, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Pro-life movement articles
editCan you please help to edit some new articles related to this one ? There´s a new user who keeps editing articles related with Christianity and abortion in a very biased way. Thanks.Mistico (talk) 20:25, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I also find her edits to be problematic, given that something like 95 % of early Christians were against abortion. Just because 5 % of early Christians did not speak out against it doesn't mean that the vast majority of the Church didn't oppose it. Quoting the Bible can never be a substitute for the authoritative teachings of ecclesiastical synods and councils by the way. If you have a problem with this, you should consider reporting it as a matter of concern to senior administrators, who have dealt with her before it seems. The user was apparently blocked back in October 2007 for having abused a number of multiple accounts (cf [2] and checkuser). I am in no sense part of the Wikipedia élite, so I couldn't really contribute to solving conflicts in ways that most administrators could. ADM (talk) 01:53, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining that. I already advised her about original research and reliable source, because she even shows Amazon as a source. I also pointed that her article about History of early Christian thought on abortion is too biased and written in a personal essay way. I tried to delete the entire article because it was a confusing mess, but without success. You can see her honesty in the fact that she deleted the entire quotes from the Church Fathers on abortion. She also seems to forget that it was the interpretation of the Gospels that lead to the anti-abortion stance of the first Christians.Mistico (talk) 18:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Mistico! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 69 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:02, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Cristóbal Acosta
editI'm somewhat confused by this edit. Could you have a look at Cristóbal Acosta and Cristóvão da Costa and clarify it to me? Cheers, —Ruud 15:05, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
These are two different persons. You can see by yourself that Cristóvão da Costa was both the name of a Portuguese 16th century physician, who settled in Spain were he became known by the Spanish form of his name, and also of a contemporary Portuguese lawyer. There is a larger biography of the lawyer Cristóvão da Costa in the Portuguese Wikipedia.Mistico (talk) 15:53, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Do you have any sources that Cristóbal Acosta is also referred to as Cristóvão da Costa? English-language would be preferable, or is he only called this way in Potugese? Cheers, —Ruud 16:03, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I am from Portugal and he is refered in here by both versions of his name, like the Portuguese Wikipedia article shows: [3]. It is in a simlar case to Ferdinand Magellan, in Spanish he is always refered as Hernando Magallanes while in Portuguese he is refered by his birth name that was Fernão de Magalhães.Mistico (talk) 16:13, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: José Rakoto. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
1936 Rugby union tournament in Berlin
editHi,
I'm seeking information about the Italian team coached by my great-uncle... Where did you find this result table tournament ?
Regards.
MENUISERIE91 (talk) 09:13, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
I just started the article, it was someone else who add these informations. If you want to know more I can recommend you the site [4]. You can find here references to the games and players from that tournament. The official website of the French Rugby Federation also shows the games France XV did back then: [5]. It's a shame that the 1936 Rugby tournament was never given any official status even as a demonstration sport because it proved that rugby union was totally viable as Olympic sport. It was the last competition of that international level until the 1987 Rugby World Cup. I already thaught myself in expanding that article but I haven't had the time yet. Regards!Mistico (talk) 13:47, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Completely new abortion proposal and mediation
editIn light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.
To avoid accusations that this posting violates WP:CANVASS, this posting is being made to every non-anon editor who has edited either page since 1 July 2010, irrespective of possible previous participation at the mediation page. HuskyHuskie (talk) 20:02, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with the current phrasing. It is rather neutral and more adequate for a very controversial matter.Mistico (talk) 22:14, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Would you be willing to go to the page and state your opinion there? Thanks! HuskyHuskie (talk) 03:58, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

I would like to know the opinion of an administrator about the deletion of the rewritting of the following paragraph, because it was deleted by a user, and I honestly think it gives a better context to the question: "Pro-life advocates generally maintain that since human life begins at conception, the unborn human fetus (and in most cases the human embryo) is a person and therefore should have his right to life safeguarded by law." Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh article

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, please place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page. |
I would like to ask an administrator to please move the article name to this previous form. It is the official name of the diocese not simply Diocese of Pittsburgh. Since there are no other diocese named like this one, it makes no sense, like a user did, without any previous debate on Talk Page, to move is name to Diocese of Pittsburgh. I would like to ask an administrator to make this move to the original form and to please give a warn to that user, who attempted twice to change his name.Mistico (talk) 23:26, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Response to you regarding Anglicans for Life
editHi there! I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get back to you - you requested my help for the Anglicans for Life page? Just let me know what I can do to help! Cath_220 Cath 220 (talk) 13:21, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello! Have you read what I asked? I questioned if Anglicans for Life is officially recognized by the Church of England and if it is also active or if there are proposals for that in the United Kingdom, Ireland and outside North America and Africa, and if you find the article information satisfactory enough.Mistico (talk) 23:05, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
verberwhats?
editYour change a year ago to Christian Reformed Church in North America has a word that can't be found - "verberates" - at the very least it is a very uncommon word. Can you think of what word you could substitute that would be understood better? Shenme (talk) 04:17, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
English isn't my first language, it's Portuguese. The word "verberate" really exists [6] but I don't think its the most adequate in that context. I am replacing that word by "condemns". Thank you for the notification.Mistico (talk) 02:00, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Zurab Mtchedlishvili Article

I would like to report the fact that a user I think acting with bad faith added a deletion proposal to the article I had created about Georgian international rugby union player Zurab Mtchedlishvili, despite the fact that the article was well sourced and by all means meeting Wikipedia notability criteria, like all those players from Georgia who entered the 2007 Rugby World Cup finals, unlike what was claimed and led to the article deletion. This was the RS I used and ESPN has been used as RS a for other rugby players: [7] I would like to know what can be done for the article to be fully restored. Thank you. [8]Mistico (talk) 01:08, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- The article was not deleted; it's at Zurab Mtchedlishvili, not Zurab Mtchelishvili -- Diannaa (talk) 01:51, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Actually it was deleted; I undeleted it. There are several issues. First of all you should assume good faith. Secondly, a page of naked statistics that doesn't write so much as a single sentence about Mtchedlishvili isn't quite the significant coverage necessary to write an article about him. So you should provide better sources that discuss him in some detail. If it isn't improved, it may well be deleted again. For example, that page of statistics doesn't serve to verify that he played for Domont and Figeac, or that he was one of the oldest players present at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Huon (talk) 01:57, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your action. If there is a need for more sources they can be provided. I am now adding one about the teams where he played in France.Mistico (talk) 12:37, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the recent revert you made to Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. User:Roddyboy.dp.12345.69 appears to be a new vandalism-only account. I would like to know if the comments that this user [10] keeps on posting in the articles he edits are in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines. I think he tends to be somewhat hysterical and has a tendency to mock other users work that can be seen as irritating. I think we all should respect other peoples work and comment, if needed, in a more proper way, when editing an article.Mistico (talk) 01:04, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- He is quite fast-talking and quick to speak, and I would say he should watch his language in edit summaries. However, his userpage claims he's a Portuguese editor, so it might just be a language barrier. K6ka (talk | contribs) 01:44, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. I am also from Portugal and his mentality that "I speak better english than you" is a bit out of place in Wikipedia.Mistico (talk) 02:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- I agree completely with the reasoning Mr. Mistico, no sarcasm there, i have no business writing some of the summaries i do. I present my sincere apologies, and promise it will not happen again. Was now editing José Pereira (footballer) and noticed your "comeback", and have the following the say without excusing my (stupid at times) summary: 1 - you can sometimes say "success" instead of "win" in regard to football; 2 - no need to say "José Pereira", "Pereira" is fine as that bit of the article (and the entire article overall) referred to no other Pereira; 3 - when you use the sporting word "first-choice", it's not obligatory to add "the", if you do it is correct, but if you do not it's correct as well; 4 - his last cap was won in November 1966, not September.
The fact that i am an undiagnosed/unmedicated bipolar also does not help much, unfortunately. Tendo dito isto, volto a apresentar as minhas sentidas desculpas caro colega utlizador. Com os melhores cumprimentos --AL (talk) 00:56, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Godfrey of Bouillon
editHi Mistico. About Godfrey of Bouillon. The cat fits because Godfrey is said to have been attacked and seriously wounded by a bear whilst on crusade.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 00:43, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
I don`t think it does. There's not even mention to this at the entry. There are several versions about the way Godfrey of Bouillon died. None of them can be taken by granted. The one you mentioned must be another version but its not even in the entry, and for that you would need a RS (Reliable Source). This is what is written concerning his death at the entry: "While he was besieging the city of Acre, Godfrey, the ruler of Jerusalem, was struck by an arrow, which killed him", reports the Arab chronicler Ibn al-Qalanisi. Christian chronicles make no mention of this; instead, Albert of Aix and Ekkehard of Aura report that Godfrey contracted an illness in Caesarea in June, 1100. It was later believed that the emir of Caesarea had poisoned him, but there seems to be no basis for this rumour; William of Tyre does not mention it. It is also said that he died after eating a poisoned apple. In any event, he died in Jerusalem after suffering from a prolonged illness." As you can see there are at least four different claims for the way he died, none mentiones a bear attack. That would be the fifth but its not even at the current state of the entry. Even if it was since its unproven like the other claims he couldn`t be added to these categories because there is no strong evidence for that.Mistico (talk) 01:59, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- The attack was noted by the contemporary chroniclers Albert of Aachen and Guibert of Nogent. Apparently Godfrey was a mauled by a bear as the crusaders trekked through Anatolia. It's a well known little episode. Just search the article for "bear" in the article. The whole thing may seem outlandish at first, but you'll see that the cat wasn't added as vandalism. Tyerman and Asbridge mention the attack in chapter four of the following books I've got on hand. You can check Google Books yourself for others. Asbridge specifically dates the attack to August 1097. Tyerman teaches at Hertford College, Oxford.[11] Asbridge reads history at Queen Mary University of London.[12] Both men are specialists in the study of the crusades. Good sources.

I would like to report the user User:Wikicology for his bad faith while attempting first to merge the article without any explanation with the one concerning the Church of Nigeria, knowing that that merger eliminated the content of the article relating to the Lagos Province, and second by trying to having him deleted, while the article meets all the notability criteria. If there is a lack of sources its another story.Mistico (talk) 16:24, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- "Meets all the notability criteria" and "there is a lack of sources" contradict each other. Merging an article without reliable third-party sources, even if unreferenced content is removed in the process, or nominating it for deletion, is not an indication of bad faith. Unless there is additional evidence, you should assume good faith. Huon (talk) 16:58, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

editHello, I'm MrX. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Kim Davis (county clerk), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Also, please don't remove reliable sources and please follow WP:NPOV. - MrX 02:30, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Did you actually read the source that I provided? It seems to prove that Pope Francis indeed meet privately and not in a group of people, unlike some secular press stated, with Kim Davis and her husband and encouraged her for the position: "On September 29, Inside the Vatican and Liberty Counsel both announced that Pope Francis met privately with Kim Davis on September 24. Since the announcement, there has been a wide variety of reporting ranging from some who deny any meeting occurred to others who admit a meeting occurred but that Kim Davis was merely one of many in a sea of faces. The fact is, Kim Davis was invited to a private meeting with the Pope and did meet privately with him on the afternoon of September 24, during which meeting Pope Francis said to Kim, “I want to thank you for your courage” and “Stay strong.”" [15] The way that part of the entry is written seems to rely too much in the secular liberal press and it misses an important point that Pope Francis stated during his visit to the United States that is the right to conscience objection. He said to the press: "I can’t have in mind all cases that can exist about conscientious objection. But, yes, I can say that conscientious objection is a right that is a part of every human right. It is a right. And if a person does not allow others to be a conscientious objector, he denies a right. Conscientious objection must enter into every juridical structure because it is a right, a human right. Otherwise we would end up in a situation where we select what is a right, saying “this right that has merit, this one does not.” It (conscientious objection) is a human right. It always moved me when I read, and I read it many times, when I read the “Chanson de Roland” when the people were all in line and before them was the baptismal font and they had to choose between the baptismal font or the sword. They had to choose. They weren’t permitted conscientious objection. It is a right and if we want to make peace we have to respect all rights."Mistico (talk) 03:22, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes I read it. It was written by Liberty Counsel, and reprinted in the opinion section of a news blog. In no way is it a reliable source, and it's a very poor substitute for sources with well-established reputations such as CNN, USA Today, NPR and The Atlantic. - MrX 12:58, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
I suppose that his article by Vaticanist John Allen is a better source: [16]Mistico (talk) 14:50, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Persondata
editPersondata in wikipedia articles is deprecated (as of May 26, 2015) as all of the relevant biographical data has be captured by wikidata and the consensus is that all persondata should be removed from wikipedia articles. See Wikipedia:Persondata. There are a number of bots trawling through the biographical articles to remove persondata. You will also note that while previously persondata was invisible to the human viewers of wikipedia pages, it has now been made visible to assist editors to identify which pages still have the deprecated persondata, so that it can be removed. Dorothy Day edits reverted, due to lack of neutral sources
editWhen you are writing about such a sensitive topic, you must be especially careful to provide reliable sources, to preserve our neutral point of view. You may well be right in what you wrote about Day, but you have to provide more neutral sources, rather than the kind of extremely partisan publications you were drawing on. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:59, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- I would suggest you go to Day's own 1973 article in Commonweal, which is falsified in the Aleteia article by substituting the peculiar phrase "artificial contraception" (one Day does not use anywhere in her article) for the phrase "birth control". (Excuse my ignorance; I gather that in some Catholic circles these phrases are considered interchangeable?) --Orange Mike | Talk 03:32, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes, artificial contraception and birth control are used as the same in Catholicism. The Catholic Church only subscrives to natural methods. Whats at stake is Dorothy Day support for the Catholic doctrine on the matter, after all the controversy that surrounded Pope Paul VI encyclica Humanae Vitae (1967). There is a very good biography of Dorothy Day by Jim Forest, and I will try to find her own words for the entry. Its true that she rarely spoke about these issues but her endorsement of the Catholic doctrine was known by anyone who knew her well.Mistico (talk) 00:47, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Please stop attempting to downplay Hoffmann's position as Hitler's personal photographer, since it's what he's best known for. If it hadn't been for that, he'd just be another Nazi apparatchik. In fact, if he hadn't been Hitler's photographer, it's doubtful if he'd even be that. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Excuse me, but nobody is trying to downplay (sic) is role as Hitler's photographer. We all know that he is known for that. I was just trying to give the opening paragraph a more encyclopedic tone. For example, this is Pablo Picasso's opening paragraph: "Pablo Picasso (/pɪˈkɑːsoʊ, -ˈkæsoʊ/;[2] Spanish: [ˈpaβlo piˈkaso]; 25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright who spent most of his adult life in France." It doesn't imediately claims that he was probably the most renowned painter of the 20th century. Mistico (talk) 23:55, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- The lede sentence of the lede paragraph should say, right up front, what the person is known for, not bury it at the end of a sentence with multiple clauses or put it in a following sentence. The tone is competely encyclopedic as it is. As for Picasso, it lists the many areas his talent was expressed in, rightfully so, whereas Hoffmann is almost entirely known as Hitler's photographer, the rest is just other stuff he did.
- Please don't change it again without getting a consensus on the talk page to do so. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:25, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- I will leave the things as they are, but if you went to see the German Wikipedia article on him starts exactly the way I had intended to be in the English version. P.S. - My nick shows that I`m obviously a "he", while I didn`t took offense.Mistico (talk) 14:32, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Maurício Abreu
editA tag has been placed on Maurício Abreu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Seems like an article created for self promotion. No notability. No sources beyond subject's own
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ~
I think it was a bad faith edit, since the person who does so seems to have done simply because he doesn`t know anything abourt Maurício Abreu. I wonder why Maurício Abreu seems to have a in long time a page at Portuguese Wikipédia and his conected to several leading names in Portuguese culture.Mistico (talk) 15:45, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

editHello, Mistico. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

editThank you for inspiring me to create the page Musée Camille Claudel, something I've been meaning to do for many moons but never did. She is near the top of my list of favorite artists since I learned of her just a little more than a year ago. I'm glad you shook me out of complacency on this with your template edit. And of course, please, if you have the time, take a look at the page and improve what's now a stub. Images of her works held at the museum seem to be a good next step, among many. Thanks again! Randy Kryn (talk) 01:03, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
You`re welcome. She was truly a great sculptor, despite the fact that she is still much less known than Rodin and only about 90 of her works seems to have survived. I will do my best when I have the time, since I understand perfectly French.Mistico (talk) 01:08, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
Invitation from Wikimedia Portugal
edit(English below)
Agradecemos desde já!
Hi! Wikimedia Portugal is the Portuguese chapter of Wikimedia, founded in 2009 and recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to contribute to the general dissemination of knowledge and culture through the incentive to the collection and creation of content without restrictions on use, modification and distribution, and promote their difusion; we promote and support the Wikimedia Foundation projects, among which Wikipedia, with emphasis on projects in Portuguese and Mirandese.
We would like however to count on the support of (and in turn ourselves support) all volunteers that are citizens, resident, or simply interested in Portugal. Despite being founded in 2009, the chapter has gone through a long period of inactivity that we are trying to overcome. We have sent you this message to invite you, if you are interested, to enroll as associate to the chapter, demonstrate your support to the existence of a chapter in Portugal, and get involved in the discussion of future activities by registering in the mailing list. Recentely, the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee suspended support to Wikimedia Portugal pending, among other things, the support from the community of portuguese editors. Mexican artist navigation boxes
editThank you for creating the category, and I didn't realize it was new so I "jumped the gun" and added it to {{Frida Kahlo}}, should have let you do that. Nice work. Randy Kryn (talk) 20:45, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
The article Sofia Lisboa has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. September 2018
editYou currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Sofia Lisboa. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Natureium (talk) 17:36, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at Sofia Lisboa, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:40, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- I would expect someone with 20k some-odd edits to know better than to edit war. I'd strongly advise you to redact your personal attack and discuss it on the talk page of the article since you've violated 3rr and WP:NPA. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:44, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
I am sorry. I was just trying to edit that article, when someone intervene. I am still editing. It can`t be helpful when we see users not helping but just trying to stop when we are working.Mistico (talk) 17:47, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- As indicated by the massive red and bold template on the page, BLPPROD isn't immediate, so there was absolutely no reason for you to edit war and be uncivil, especially given your tenure. "I didn't know" doesn't work like that and you've still not addressed your personal attack. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:50, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Like its said, its expected that others users help us when we are just trying to do our job. I have started hundreds in articles in Wikipedia, as you can see by yourself. I was expecting that user to start looking for RS, instead of trying to undo my job, and I lost my calm. I am very sorry.Mistico (talk) 17:55, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

editI muat be one of the very few native English-speaking editors who has both translated from Portuguese Wikipedia into English Wikipedia and taken part in a pt:Wikipédia:Eliminação por consenso (a very minor part – I had alerted a pt:WP:ADMIN to a problem; and several native Portuguese-speaking editors did an excellent job – two articles written by a troll which had been deleted in English Wikipedia were deleted in Portuguese Wikipedia also).
Portuguese is about my sixth language, but Google Translate and low cunning are my friends. I cannot guarantee that I will agree with you in any particular case; but, you now know how to find me, and to ask.
