Thank you for, passionate lover of flowers shown in excellent pictures, for the quality of your continuous care (passio continuo) for articles on the works by Anton Bruckner, full of music, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Thank you for your help last year, and your good wishes! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:54, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please check out "Happy" once more, for a smile, and sharing (a Nobel Peace Prize), and resolutions. I wanted that for 1 January, but then wasn't sad about having our music pictured instead. Not too late for resolutions, New Year or not. DYK that he probably kept me on Wikipedia, back in 2012? Flora of Lanzarote

Lanzarote

Look, there are endemic plants mentioned on Famara, one a stub and 2 ill-links. Could you say more? Are pictured, - I'm looking at it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:52, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gerda, I will have a look on it, but I am not sure whether I can say much more. I have no detailed documentation on the endemic flora of the Canary Islands. Furthermore, each Canary Island has his local endemic plants. I was years ago with Ivo Pauwels in Tenerife, but I did not yet photograph plants at that time. Some years later, we went to La Palma; I have then photographed a few endemic plants, some of which remain still unidentified... In my edit summary, I referred of course to the English spelling typo "manuscrits" (which I corrected to "manuscripts" by adding the "p", as you can see). Not to any conjecture over the number of "manuscripts" there might be, singular or plural. Best wishes. Ref (chew)(do) 12:33, 10 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Refsworldlee: As French speaking, I wrote it with the French spelling, i.e., without the "p". Thanks again for correcting this mistake. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 13:55, 10 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

April

... with thanks from QAI

Thank you for more work around Bruckner! - If you click on April, you'll see new travel pics, including flowers, small but millions, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:05, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gerda, thanks for the flowers. It is one on first first flowering plants in humid forests. I have added the category Oxalis acetosella in Germany.
About Bruckner: The complete Alte Gesamtausgabe (Haas edition) is now available on IMSLP, as well as the volumes of the Neue Gesamtausgabe (Nowak edition), which were edited before 1993. About the vocal works, the scores of the Masses, Requiem, Te Deum, Psalm 150 and the smaller religious works (early masses & motets) are now available.
I have updated a few Wikipedia pages, mainly that on the Second Symphony, following fruitful discussions with Will Carragan. Last month, there was the premiere of the complete 1876 version of the Third Symphony (as reconstructed by Will). In this version, most of the Wagner quotes are removed, but the remaining of the symphony is preserved. As you know, in the next version, there are already severe cuts, which deface the work, mainly the adagio, but also the finale. The 1876 version is thus perhaps the best version of the symphony. I have updated the concerned Wikipedia page accordingly.
Lat year there were premieres of the orchestration of Beethoven's Sonate pathétique, and of 13 piano pieces from the Kitzler Studienbuch. I just added the YouTube links of premieres of two scherzos for string quartet (F major & G minor) from the Kitzler Studienbuch. Best greetings, --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 14:23, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thought of you when we sang Bruckner's Christus factus est yesterday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:27, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear Gerda, Christus factus est, WAB 11, is one of the most beautiful Bruckner's motets, but ... IMO the very seldom performed WAB 10 is even more beautiful, as Nowak wrote: "One has to value this composition as one of the most expressive and monumental works of Bruckner's sacred music". Stenov performed it last Sunday, during the Palm Sunday celebration: Musik zum Palmsonntag/Palm Sunday (Karwoche/Holy Week) 14. 4. 2019 Karmelitenkirche Linz. Best regards, --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 09:08, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Will tell conductors. We sang the one from WAB 9 before. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:16, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Brahms Motets

edit

Brahms motets, - can you please correct IMSLP? [1], at the bottom, Warum...? - There should be no tempo marking in the head line, the first movement shoud be "Langsam und ausdrucksvoll" (missing a space), and the second movements should be "Wenig bewegter" (not "Weniger ..."). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:02, 25 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

In this score, the title is sometimes right (dem Mühseligen), sometimes wrong (den Mühseligen). Can you fix that, please. (And listen? Will sing later this month.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:53, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gerda, I was last week on holiday in France and did not catch your first request. Hopefully it is now fixed. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 09:35, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Similar request: if you look at this and I Will Mention the Loving-kindnesses, you'll see a pubication date with a question mark, whiöe sources seem to be sure about 1975. Can you please change there? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:19, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Perhaps you have time to look at musical articles, or even listen to some music. The best - I think - is under St John Passion, and if you don't have time for the whole thing the excerpt, or the "making", will give an impression. Possibly the only Bach Passion this Good Friday, at the composer's grave. He was buried in 1750, and his music is soooo alive! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:00, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

... and still flowering around Bruckner! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:02, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I just made a round of the Bruckner symphonies, because the keys are not really part of their titles - and could be linked when not. I stumbled about "To the beloved God" for "Dem lieben Gott", and confess that to this day, I believed it's rather the loving God. ?? I also heard "dear God". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:42, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Gerda Arendt: I was not the original writer of this Wikipedia page and thus also not of the wording "To the beloved God". If, as you suggest, you think that there should be a better translation of "Dem lieben Gott", do not hesitate to change it. Dear Gerda,
On the front of the first photo (Stonecrop Gardens) there is a Sedum species ("stonecrop"...), that I cannot identify, with two weeds: a caper spurge (Euphorbia lathyris) and crow-dippers (Pinellia ternata).
The second picture (Flowerbeds) is a flowerbed with fall phloxes (Phlox paniculata) and two kinds of American asters (Symphyotrichum species).
My best wishes too for a Covid19-free 2021. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 11:24, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your consistent Bruckner improvement. I was envied for having listened to his Seventh, DYK? The rose pic was taken on 11 Sep 2021, and this year was full of music that day, Tag des offenen Denkmals, not only singing in church and rehearsals for Verdi's Requiem, but two concerts at special places pictured, one a synagogue (pictured on its wall). Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto (my brother played in the orchestra), and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. Almost too much of a good thing. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:56, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

my story today

Thank you for fixing the name of these flowers! - While today's DYK highlights Santiago on his day, I did my modest share with my story today, describing what I just experienced, pictured. I began the article of the woman in green. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:54, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Today Jahrhundertring, and I'm listening to Götterdämmerung from the Bayreuth Festival (pictured), - the image (of a woman who can't believe what she has to see) features also on the article talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:41, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Today's story is about a great pianist with an unusual career, taking off when he was 50. It's the wedding anniversary of Clara and Robert Schumann, but I was too late with our gift. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:06, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for more flowers! - Today I remember Raymond Arritt, who still helps me, five years after he died, per what he said in my darkest time on Wikipedia (placed in my edit-notice as a reminder), and by teh rulez. - Latest pics from a weekend in Berlin (one more day to come). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:53, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

These hidden croci were captured last year, on a cemetery after a funeral. They stand for hope for me, and remind me of yours from last year. Best wishes, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:58, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gerda, it is a plant of the large South-African family Proteaceae, but which one? Compare with the plant on this picture in the category unidentified Proteaceae. I guess a Leucospermum species. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 15:11, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

11 years precious! - How are you? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:11, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear Gerda, Bruckner, whose 200th birthday is celebrated this year, is currently my main activity on Wikipedia. Numerous recordings of his works, some of which had previously not been performed or recorded – notably those from the Kitzler-Studienbuch – appear almost every week or month... I am also active in two private Facebook groups about the composer and his works. I can introduce you to it if you are interested. Because of the bad weather conditions, botany is currently less present in my activities. Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 06:41, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! - No facebook for me ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:20, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sunday story about another of Bach's chorale cantatas, listen, as I listened to two impressive very different choral concerts, - music by 16 composers. In the latest cloudy pictures: a hidden deer, a cat and a blaze of a sunset. - Looking forward to Bruckner Nine on 30 Sep. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:43, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Today's story has 3 composers, I couldn't decide for the one on the Main page or the one who didn't make it on his bicentenary, so took both, and the pic has a third. Listen if you have a bit of time. The music, played by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Germany in April 2022, impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:32, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
To celebrate the day, I listened to Bruckner's Eighth on radio, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:05, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Dear Gerda, I presume that, as on his CDs, [Search Discography Database - Anton Bruckner (abruckner.com)] Davies performed the first (1887) version of the Symphony - my favourite version of the Eighth. Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 09:21, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wish I knew, I missed the announcement, and it wasn't said in the end. - Recommended reading today: Frye Fire, by sadly missed Vami_IV. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:24, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display, portrayed by Egon Schiele, with music from Moses und Aron, and with two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday, which made me happy then and now again. - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:11, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Bruckner in September - and October

edit

You may remember Maryvonne Le Dizès, my story today as on 28 August. Some September music was unusual: last compositions (Bruckner's Ninth) and eternal light, with Ligeti mentioned in story and music. They sang it instead of a fourth movement. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:10, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Today brought a timely promotion of Helmut Bauer to the Main page on the day when pieces from Mozart's Requiem were performed for him, also Bruckner's Ave Maria, WAB 7! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:25, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

For a surprise, a Bach cantata is on the Main page today, where it was last year for the 300th anniversary, and they were too lazy to find something new ;) - Look at my story, and listen to the 3 whole-tone steps and the dialogues of Fear and Hope. - An open letter open to be signed (more info on the talk), - I haven't checked if you did, please ignore then. - In the most recent pics, there's are two from the Madrid Botanical Gardens, where I couldn't identify the plants, - your help is welcome, there and always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:22, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I uploaded more pics, on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:27, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
