Shraddha Sharma

edit

Hi. Please do not make edits such as the ones you did at Shraddha Sharma. We have a very strict policy on biographies on living persons, such as requiring all information to be attributed to a reliable source and also using a neutral language when writing articles. Please keep this in mind when you edit this article, and keep to the subject as much as possible. Bjelleklang - talk 01:42, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. Please avoid adding information that cannot be directly attributed to a reliable source. Youtube is not such a source. Also, there is no need for a table containing her one album, and there is no need to list every little thing she has appeared on. The Windsong festival doesn't list her in their lineup, so in other words her appearance there is likely to be minor, and thus just another gig not really worth mentioning.
Keep the article short and to the facts for now, she simply hasn't done a lot worth covering (yet), and leaving stuff like the number of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Youtube followers out of the article improves the readability for other readers. As mentioned before we have a strict policy on biographies at Wikipedia, and we must adhere to these rules. Bjelleklang - talk 14:50, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm responding to your post at my talkpage here if you don't mind.
First of all, please review WP:UNDUE and WP:RS. The fact that she became famous for her Youtube videos doesn't make Youtube a reliable source in this context, and it also comes in under the section on self published sources in the verifiability policy. We still require reliable sources to back up any claims and content in an article, especially for BLPs. When you write wikipedia made from the little little information you are only partially correct; Shraddha Sharma is borderline notable for becoming Indias most viewed Youtube artist, and for having released a record. That's it. She isn't notable for appearing in ads, having her song appear in ads, for not appearing on various TV shows, and the number of videos she has on what Youtube channel isn't important. At best, we add an external link to the Youtube channels, we don't list each and every detail about the videos found there.
Until there are proper reliable sources detailing other things she's done, assuming that they are relevant, we can add more information. Regarding Windsong; even if there is a video of her appearing there it doesn't make the appearance notable. If you have a reliable source mentioning her appearance there it might be listed if it gives some context, but keep in mind that a Youtube video isn't regarded as a reliable source.
As for the table listing the record; is it really needed? Isn't it enough to state that she released a record produced with Leslie Lewis, Jim Beanz and Ankur Tiwari, and that Ankur Tewari appeared on one of the tracks? If people want the track listing of a (non-notable) record we can point them to an external site. Listing all the tracks isn't needed, especially as none of them appear to be notable by themselves.
Lastly I just want to remind you that Wikipedia has a number of policies. I have my opinions on what to keep in articles, but the policies are the basis for everything, and have been decided upon by the community. What is likely to happen with an article if there is a content dispute is that the article is frozen with no updates possible until a discussion on the talkpage has resolved the issues. Bjelleklang - talk 10:31, 17 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have restored the article to my revision again. There is no need to list every little detail of where someones music have been used (ads), where they have played, or what they've done. She has released one album, gotten some attention as a result of being popular on Youtube, and let's leave it at that. Until there is more coverage the article should be left as is. Bjelleklang - talk 17:52, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have restored the article again, and have to ask: What is your relation to Shraddha Sharma? She is barely notable, and I had to rewrite/shorten the draft you submitted for it to be acceptable as per our policies. Please keep this in mind. Bjelleklang - talk 18:57, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
As you mention; "I'm her fan, & i want to give her a new year surprise !" This is really not compatible with writing an encyclopedia, so I would suggest that you read up on the guideline regarding conflict of interest. We simply cannot add every little detail about an artist, we have to consider the amount of details compared to what the person has actually accomplished. As mentioned the article would not have been accepted in the form you are trying to force it towards; she has one record which is non-notable; there is no need to list every track on it with a link to ITunes, especially when the info on all (but one) of the tracks are the same. Bjelleklang - talk 13:49, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Can you please give me some examples of other articles where everything is listed? Also, please read Wikipedia:Other_stuff_exists. The short version is that just because another article exists or has content of a given type, it doesn't automatically justify that another article contains the same. Bjelleklang - talk 17:37, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you look at the artists you have mentioned, you'll notice that every one of them are notable for multiple things.

  • Armaan Malik; finalist in a notable singing competition, contributed to multiple notable films and 100-200 commercials
  • Aditya Narayan; multiple notable awards, appeared in multiple notable films and led several notable TV shows.
  • Mohammad Irfan Ali; contributed to multiple notable films.
  • Austin_Mahone; nominated and have won multiple notable awards, appeared in several notable films.

None of them lists every little detail of their lives; they focus mostly on what is relevant. Bieber is the big exception here, but then again his article is backed by 160 different sources, and he has also been the subject of multiple books. Please re-read Wikipedia:Other_stuff_exists; simply because something exists in another article isn't an automatic reason to include it in all articles. Bjelleklang - talk 15:18, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Exactly; they are notable for multiple things, while Shraddha Sharma has primarily gotten coverage for being one of the most viewed Indian Youtube artists who happens to be releasing an album. Being popular on Youtube or releasing a record is usually (almost never) enough by itself to become notable, and if she only did one of these things it's likely that the article would have been deleted. The other artists you mention doesn't list everything they've done; they list a sample. Armaan Malik doesn't contain his complete discography, only a list of songs from some of the movies he's contributed to and not everything. Sharma has released one record so far; it's already mentioned in the article and until the day when it becomes notable, or she has a notable hit from it we shouldn't list every individual song from it.
Keep in mind what the guideline to notability says; "It is important to remember that "notable" is not a synonym for "famous". Someone may have become famous due to one event, but may nevertheless be notable for more than one event. Similarly, a person may be generally famous, but notable for only a single event." She may end up receiving more coverage sometime in the future, but for now there simply isn't enough. Bjelleklang - talk 22:45, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I've tried to explain to you why you can't make such edits which I have now reverted. Please refrain from editing the article as you have earlier stated that you're a "fan, & i want to give her a new year surprise"[1]. You seem to have COI-related issues, so consider this a warning. The next time you risk being blocked. Bjelleklang - talk 07:02, 7 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
