Printing Images of Muhammad: A minority tradition?

edit

Itaqallah and ALM have suggested that since printing of Muhammad's images has not been a common affair, therefore Wikipedia too should not print the images otherwise it will be a violation of UNDUE. Images have been printed all over the World now and this is not likely to change now:

Countries where one or more of the images were published in some form

Printing of images is no longer a minority tradition and so UNDUE does not apply.

"Notable artists who have drawn Muhammed without incident include Giovanni da Modena, William Blake, Gustave Doré, and Salvador Dalí". ([1])

Recentism

edit

Itaqallah, Recenticm is an essay which all editors dont agree with. Its not a policy (WP:NOTPOLICY): This is an essay. It is not a policy or guideline; it merely reflects some opinions of its authors.. The other two which encourage the publication of Muhammad's images are policies though.--Matt57 (talkcontribs) 13:29, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

you don't seem to appreciate that the essay is apparently supposed to outline the policy/guideline arguments presented by editors, because you are purging material simply because you don't agree with it. ITAQALLAH 13:43, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
You have attempted to present Recentism as a policy. Please see WP:NOTPOLICY. And since this is my userspace, yes, I'm able to own it, according to the discussion on ALM's page. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 14:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Typical" readers

edit

I generally agree with you, but I disagree that Muslim Wikipedia readers are somehow "atypical". Don't confuse "typical" with "majority". --Doradus 16:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
