December 2016
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Malcolm Dedman. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of User:MalcolmDedman
editA tag has been placed on User:MalcolmDedman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The article Malcolm Dedman has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cabayi (talk) 09:35, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
- Reliable sources only please. Not self-published stuff. Cabayi (talk) 09:58, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because... I have added citations and references from webpages that I have not been personally responsible for writing. Please let me know if there is anything else I should do to prevent deletion. Thank you. --MalcolmDedman (talk) 10:45, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

German wiki...
editIn response to your questions about correcting the equivalent article on the German wiki...
Each wiki has its own rules. The English wiki takes, as you've seen, a fairly robust attitude against self-promotion in all its guises. Other wikis may be more tolerant on the matter, just as they may have stricter rules on matters which wouldn't raise an eyebrow on this wiki.
I thought there was an ambassadorship programme running between the wikis to help out, but I can't find any trace of it. The best places to get help are likely to be:
- Wikipedia talk:German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board on this wiki; or
- de:Diskussion:Malcolm Dedman, but it could be many months before anybody stumbles across your question; or
- the author's talk page, de:Benutzer Diskussion:Toolittle; or
- User talk:Gerda Arendt since Gerda has edited the article and is prolific on both wikis.
Please bear in mind that this wiki requires independent verifiable sources when writing about living people - even if that person is yourself. If you're going to ask somebody to make changes on your behalf it would be courteous to provide sources to support your requested changes.
Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 17:02, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
