You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Choice

edit

Re. centi

the choice was reviewed with due regard to all the correct WP procedures

Fuck yeah; absolutely spot-on. Well said.  Chzz  ►  03:08, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The more I look into the past edits of those who pushed the TFA choice, the more dancing on pinheads I see. There seems to be a sizable number of prolific editors who spend hours arguing extreme points of view just for the sake of an argument, very often dragging bread-and-butter editors away from genuine improvement work. I fear that WP will become a vast freedom-of-speech-to-the-max bloggers playground, where the project's core purpose will get sidelined.--ML5 (talk) 23:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

AF assist

edit

I've looked, and can't find any suggestion that the Canon EOS 100 is focusing on the pattern that the AF assist lamp projects. The image shows a fuzzy pattern, not something suitable to focus on, same as other cameras I've seen. Is there a source that suggests what you're saying? I've taken it back out for now. Dicklyon (talk) 16:07, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Strange. I can't find anything official, either. Just search "canon elan af lamp" and you'll read it being described. As for the fuzziness of the picture, that was down to the problem of using a compact digital to capture a film SLR briefly flashing a near-IR/red pattern on a featurless wall in darkness. Note that the AF lamp isn't trying to illuminate the subject, as most other cameras/flashes attempt, but provide an image for the BASIS sensor to work with.--ML5 (talk) 21:07, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Now Scotland

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Now Scotland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.nowscotland.scot/about_us. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
