Verifiability

I'm responding to your note at Talk:In Rainbows here, since it's not really (actually not at all) about the album. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia which does not include original research. That means that we are (supposed to be) a compendium of existing published sources. An encyclopedia is not meant to be a primary source (the album itself) or a secondary source (an original report about the album), but a ternary source (a collection of published information about the album). The reason that these distinctions are important is to keep Wikipedia honest (as honest as possible) and relevant, and so that it does not become any of the things that it is not.

Of course it is obvious that a band who is about to release an album and is playing a bunch of new songs on a tour will probably include those songs on their next album. That's not just something that Radiohead does, but something that all bands do. But it's not for Wikipedia editors to make that call, and say that these will probably be the songs on the new album (even though of course it was true). If there is a published source that makes the claim, by all means we should include it.

Before people started removing the list of speculations, it was fairly silly and included many songs that are not going to be on In Rainbows. Check out the list before anything was removed here. This is great material for a superfan's website, or for a Radiohead rumors blog, but not for an encyclopedia article which is supposed to be verifiable. The internet is full of sites that want this kind of material, that's just not what Wikipedia is meant for.

And sorry you have to put up with attacks at Talk:In Rainbows- I can't even tell who they're directed at anymore. Wikipedia isn't meant for that, either. Staecker 01:08, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Quick note...

Hello there. Thanks to your contribution to wikipedia - and the Heartland song article. Hopefully, you can do more work on U2 related articles. We even have a U2 project.

Just one thing - in order to make wikipedia as international as possible, we should avoid referring periods of time by season. Firstly, "fall of 1987" in the northern hemisphere is not the same as it is in the south, and also "fall" is particularly American term. Right now, it is "autumn" as I type here in Australia. I've changed it to "late 1987". If you can provide a month, that would be better still.
