Soundbytes

edit

I understand the thought that it doesn't sound very good by comparison, but in order for them to qualify for fair use, we cannot include music clips in that high of fidelity. I appreciate the thought, but it's best to leave the former one there. dannymusiceditor oops 22:42, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I could always reduce the sound quality on the former one, or would it be better to migrate the older one to the newer file? It goes against Wikipedia:SAMPLE in any case to have multiple versions of the same sample per one song recording, so a transition should be made regardless of which direction. Leafy46 (talk) 03:35, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@DannyMusicEditor: Forgot to ping, apologies. Leafy46 (talk) 03:40, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I presumed the earlier, original bit uploaded about a year ago would be retained, and we could just pretend the other one was never here. dannymusiceditor oops 05:42, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@DannyMusicEditor: I've addressed your concerns about quality and have made the switch. I understand that standards must be kept a bit higher on a featured article like Bleed American, so thanks for bringing the fact to my attention! Leafy46 (talk) 20:12, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I was at first confused that you reverted my edits, but in truth, I actually had no idea that this clip had existed since 2009. Had I been aware of that, I would have just gotten the older one reduced and used this in the first place rather than upload the other. Oops™! dannymusiceditor oops 21:29, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Heat 2 - long plot

edit

Hi,

I saw you added the long plot tag to the Heat 2 plot summary.

I'lll work on streamlining the plot to be more straight forward and manageable.

Once I do that, do I remove the tag myself? Iheartmylibrary22 (talk) 18:30, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Iheartmylibrary22: Hi! That is indeed how it works -- have you already taken a look through WP:NOVELPLOT? Leafy46 (talk) 18:32, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thanks. Will take a closer look and proceed from there. Iheartmylibrary22 (talk) 18:40, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

song knloange

edit

Hey I saw your subtitles for toxic and thought you probably know about music, does this song have call and response because I was gonna add the sample and say that it dose but I wasn't sure. also you don't need to write the subtitles for that sample I will. I have before see. you can leave a link like that on your page it might be faster then editing it all the time. also do you type the subtitles by hand or with an editor of sorts because I just look at Audacity to get the timing Anthony2106 (talk) 11:48, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

this link is better Anthony2106 (talk) 11:51, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Anthony2106: Thank you for your work with subtitles! I would say yes to the sample you linked: I'd probably write that first line as "You stand there lookin' at me (at me)", for instance. Also, yes, I do write all the subtitles by hand.
On a related note, when you do write subtitles, do double-check them before leaving them, especially since they get a lot less attention than a "normal" article would. I see, for instance, that there are various mistakes between "You're" and "Your" in the subtitles you've written for "Love on Top", and occasionally there are lines improperly capitalized like in "Hot to Go!". In any case, thank you again for your work in this underappreciated field! Leafy46 (talk) 15:01, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
One more quick thing: If you could put Template:Subtitles at the top of the file page after you create subtitles, that would be much appreciated (For example: this revision). Thanks! Leafy46 (talk) 15:07, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok thanks ill change the page to make it say it uses call and response.
"I see, for instance, that there are various mistakes between "You're" and "Your"" - yes I'm really bad at spelling, I'll try to remember.
About the uncatilized lines, you know how in the past people would write the subtitles in all caps. well I think its because we don't know what is the end or start of a sentence in a movie or show. Anyway in Modern Family on Disney+ they seem to have them uppercase when starting a sentence and lowercase when not starting a sentence, so seems like when starting a sentence they are meant to be uppercase - not when starting a line. But when does a "sentence" happen in a song?, so instead of doing all caps I did all lowercase, but lately I've been doing it the more common way - just making the first letter uppercase.
I'll try to remember to put {{subtitles}}.
Ive been using mpv to play music videos and downloading subtitles online, adding "sub-auto=fuzzy" to the config file makes it autoload subtitles with a similar name. so I just realized earlier today I can use this to preview the subtitles before uploading them, this way I don't spam my edit history. Well, I don't know how this works. I agree, I want this iteration gone, and I'll take the Music video suggestion. I looked up the liner notes and actually have found another credit, so thanks for that prompt. I found a source describing their work as French touch, and another as "yacht-rock disco". I've added that. Thanks for jumping on this.

Should I make another nom entirely? Can I just make another one and disregard the first? Thanks for the feedback. BarntToust 17:09, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@BarntToust: Nope, you're all good! I'll respond to you on your nomination's page itself. Leafy46 (talk) 17:22, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Leafy46, I completely replaced the old content on the page with music video stuff. If I deleted anything important, I apologise as this whole process is new to me. You are now clear to review that one, and besides the liner notes and genre stuff, I've indeed cut out a portion of quotes on the reception section so Earwig shouldn't have a fit seeing the 63% or so copyvio. BarntToust 17:28, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BarntToust: It's typical to keep up the old review for posterity's sake, so I hope you don't mind me reverting your replacement of the page. I've suggested an alternate hook there, what do you think of it? Leafy46 (talk) 17:36, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Leafy46, absolutely brilliant. I agree, that one is a paraphrased version of a more longer one I put there that you reverted. I don't know the process of abandoning a first submission, but the second should def be the way to go. BarntToust 17:39, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
And for the second one, like I've said—I added the sources for the Personnel section and the genres, and cut back the quotes in reception—so that's taken care of for try #2. BarntToust 17:41, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BarntToust: Good to hear! As an FYI there's no need for you to "abandon" a nomination at DYK: usually, alternate hooks are simply written in, to make sure that whoever is actually putting the hooks together for the front page knows all the options. It seems like you're happy, so I'll go ahead and approve the hook! Leafy46 (talk) 17:42, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
thank you for that! BarntToust 17:42, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
