Montana

edit

Montana's data is available here, but data between June and October are missing. I am not sure if this should be incorporated in the chart. Horizon Sunset (talk) 22:36, 29 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

this is great!! CT pulls the same stunt with not reporting in an extremely broad definition of summer, so we already have precedent: report data when they do, mark them x when they don't. this is also very nicely presented data so it's a snap to redo it week by week, and although of course there will be occluded late reported deaths especially early on next "season", since they'll be covered by the model anyway it won't really matter. great find, thanks! Kinerd518 (talk) 19:03, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Michigan

edit

Michigan's data is still available from here (sum up all counties). However, this number includes about 4000 probable deaths, which wasn't included originally. You may choose to include this at your discretion. Horizon Sunset (talk) 03:39, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

this is great, thanks!! if they can't be bothered with the distinction, i see no reason we should either, i'll just bring up the starting point again. Kinerd518 (talk) 16:00, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Illinois

edit

The data from Illinois comes from NCHS (According to their website), which included the probable data not included originally, and that explains the difference between the your model and the data. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the confirmed count for Illinois either Horizon Sunset (talk) 04:00, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

that makes sense and i believe you, but the model was just so far under in its prediction that i can't help but feel there was some serious underreporting going on too. this is neither here nor there though, so thanks! :D Kinerd518 (talk) 16:03, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Choi Hye-seon Avatar from YouTube.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Choi Hye-seon Avatar from YouTube.jpg, which you've attributed to https://www.youtube.com/@HazelChoiiiii. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 06:41, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

hello! when i uploaded the file with the wizard, i filled out a form justifying doing so. is it possible for you or anyone to see those responses? i can go back in the wizard and try my best to recreate my original responses if not, but would i put them here, or where? regarding the tag, it seems to be marked as non-free on my uploads page, do i use the tag in the article the file is used in? if so, where? thanks! Replaceable non-free use File:Choi Hye-seon Avatar from YouTube.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Choi Hye-seon Avatar from YouTube.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 20:16, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Georgia

edit

Georgia continues to publish the weekly fatality count here. By summing weekly counts by age in the most recent report, I get 44,277. Unfortunately, I can't find the confirmed and probable counts separately, similar to the situation with Michigan. This will be a huge jump from 36,488 because of the probable counts (last reported 7,581), so you may choose to include that at your discretion. Horizon Sunset (talk) 01:57, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

this is great! using a text extract i got 44,213 but that's no big deal. i'll update the chart accordingly, thanks again! :D Kinerd518 (talk) 17:58, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Found the mistake in my calculations! Thanks again! --Horizon Sunset (talk) 23:42, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Puerto Rico's count

edit

Hey! Thank you so much for correcting the numbers on Guam! I found out that the total has not yet included Puerto Rico's updated data, would you mind correcting that also? Horizon Sunset (talk) 19:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

all set! it was just the column for daily reported totals, so the grand totals listed are still the same. and no worries! it's easy for me to update the numbers once we have them, having them is the main thing :D thanks again! Kinerd518 (talk) 20:48, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

P.S Sorry it is sort of my part to update the total alongside when I backfilled Puerto Rico's data for the past two weeks but I don't think I have the data to compute the modelled count so I decided to leave the daily totals from 5 Aug to 18 Aug for both actual and modelled counts unchanged when they need to be recalculated.

Connecticut

edit

Connecticut has resumed reporting. It has reported fatality data as early as the week ending 3 Aug, 2024. It is quite unusual as the previous dashboard only included data from Oct 2023. I would recommend backfilling the weekly data starting in August 2024, or at least remove all the Xs from that week on. Horizon Sunset (talk) 03:59, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

and at a new URL, no less! i'm on it, thanks again for all your contributions to the project! Kinerd518 (talk) 17:13, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Montana

edit

Montana has resumed reporting in the same link. It has modified its dashboard to include statistics by year. You can get a total count by summing up the count each year. Horizon Sunset (talk) 17:54, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

thanks! i'll use the weekly breakdown to fill in the blanks, but going forward we should have a much more reliable total count :D Kinerd518 (talk) 18:21, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Colorado

edit

Colorado still reports total fatalities here (15,767). I don't know why it is less than the 16,310 reported previously but comparing count for each of the 12 months it is clear that count for each month is consistently lower than previous monthly data by single digit. See their definition here. Horizon Sunset (talk) 01:45, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

thanks for finding this! and yeah that is weird to drop that much, i have a call in with them, hopefully we can get an explanation. if we don't by the next update, i'll just use the listed value. thanks again! Kinerd518 (talk) 19:17, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
got a call back, the total isn't reporting from the start of the pandemic, and while the plan isn't set yet, they anticipate the starting line bumping up every year or so. not ideal, but definitely workable for our purposes. the last twelve months being slightly lower looks therefore to just be a coincidence, it's certainly more common for past values to bump up slightly, but i've seen them go down slightly often enough that that makes sense to me. they should be updating later this week, we'll see how it goes! :D Kinerd518 (talk) 13:45, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Nebraska

edit

Nebraska has resumed reporting here. However, it doesn't include the data for 2019-2020 season (which ended on 26 Sep, 2020). As a result, I am unsure how to incorporate this into the chart Horizon Sunset (talk) 01:37, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

very sloppily is how, lol, but it's good to have an updated reference again, thanks! i'll go into more detail on the template's talk page but i think i have a relatively reasonable way to do it Kinerd518 (talk) 13:59, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Alaska

edit

Alaska has resumed reporting here (see page 85 for monthly data). It seems like the data they have reported here has largely coincided with their previous reporting. Horizon Sunset (talk) 04:16, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

this is a great find!! thanks :D Kinerd518 (talk) 15:12, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I got 1,546 from summing up counts from each year (265 for 2020, 841 from 2021, 341 from 2022, 99 from 2023) reported on page 85. Hence I thought that was the correct count you meant to include.--Horizon Sunset (talk) 23:22, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

hmm, well i can't explain it haha, i must have gotten caught up in the partial year part. either way it's all set now, thanks again! Kinerd518 (talk) 19:04, 2 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
