Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Frontier flying service logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Frontier flying service logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Foe (unit of energy)

edit

I have nominated Foe (unit of energy), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Foe (unit of energy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Guy (Help!) 19:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Commons

edit

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading your media there instead. That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 07:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

SVG images

edit

Thank you for converting raster images to SVG format. However, in some cases (actually probably the majority of them), this should not mean that you simply run them through a tracer, like Image:Estrella_Roja_Fútbol_Club.svg. The results are poor and there is now an SVG image (probably more) that requires much cleanup, if not a completely new image drawn. Please consider either actually drawing images like those in Inkscape for example (horrible program, if you ask me), or at least try to keep you from uploading more poor vectorizations as they don't help anyone, especially not this project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joey-das-WBF (talkcontribs) 09:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sheesh, everybody's an art critic.
I agree that the example you cite above didn't turn out so great using a vector tracer, but a large number of them actually do turn out OK. For example, Image:Air_Mobility_Command.svg, Image:O'Neill.svg, Image:CoCwordmark.svg, and Image:Buclizine.svg. All of these were created using vector tracers at the same time as the one you dislike. I've been careful to choose only images to .svg that will convert well, but this one you point out was not as great. I don't have Inkwell yet, but I may start drawing .svg images in the near future. For the time being, however, I'm just going after low-hanging fruit. kevyn (talk) 19:50, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Hoe Avenue peace meeting‎

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hoe Avenue peace meeting‎, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

By the way, I did not propose to delete the article, Mynameisstanley did, but he did not have the courtesy to give notice to you. - Mafia Expert (talk) 22:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:1 crown.svg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:1 crown.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:1 crown.svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 06:58, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
