Coordinator:

I should have run to stand, lol. I wish i hadn't taken a long break. What's been going on lately? It looks the latest collaborations were kind of dead.--Robert Waalk (talk) 21:38, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, it takes some more input to keep things float. Nothing here appears to help activity more than other activity. So wade in with what you can, sign up to eh job centre at least with what you can do and enjoy. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Adminship

Do you want to become an admin? Pmlineditor 11:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Coordinator Election

Hello Kevin and Pmlin. At the moment (6 hours left of voting) it stands at: Kevin 15, myself 12, Pmlin 10. Baring some sort of miracle Kevin will likely win. So as long as you are happy to take up the position Kevin, you shall become lead co-ordinator, and myself and Pmlin shall become assistant co-ordinators. Is everyone happy with this arrangement? Regards, Alan16 (talk) 17:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC).

Not originally keen on taking the lead, however! If you guys can provide good support I will step up. Between us we should be able to do this. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 17:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Pmlin and myself are fully behind you so I'm sure we can improve the project together. Alan16 (talk) 17:41, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm traveling till early September and will probably have less access to secure connections and little time for wikipedia till I get back but will gladly help you guys starting September. Good luck! --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 02:01, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Sword of Truth task force

I am begining to coordinate activity for the Sword of Truth task force, I am wondering if you still wish to be active with the task force? SADADS (talk) 18:04, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Question

I was planning on creating an article about William Shatner's autobiography "Up Til Now" and I noticed that there is already an article named Up 'til Now, so I wanted to name either Up Til Now (novel) or Up Til Now (book). Which name is better? JayLeno175 (talk) 21:22, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

The proper title is Up Till Now and I would link back and forth between the two using one or other of the "{{otheruses}}" templates. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:13, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Steven Erikson

Hello. Would you mind reading and commenting at the Steven Erikson article talk page. It is about a YouTube source - always a fun matter. Best regards, Alan16 (talk) 16:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC).

Novel taskforce questions

Hi! I added my name to the list on Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Fantasy task force but think it's best to remove myself. Do I do that myself, or shall you? Also, not in the fantasy genre, but in other genres, from the two year old articles to be copy edited list, I've picked Sharon Kay Penman that I brought from an in-universe stub; and Alex Delaware that had 23 (!) in-universe plot summaries, that I've rewritten to real life. I'd like to have Alex Delaware assessed when the article is finished, but it doesn't have a template on the talk page -- could you perhaps point me in the right direction for the correct template? Thanks. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 22:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Joel Chernoff

The article Joel Chernoff has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

tagged since July 2007 for having no references.... nothing on Google apart from his own websites and Wikipedia article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TeapotgeorgeTalk 22:16, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

book/movie advice

Hi Kevinalewis, I was hoping you could give me some advice on something literature related. I'm in the process of preparing the article on the book maniac magee for GA nomination. I'm considering merging the article for the movie to the book page, since the movie page hardly contains any additional information. It does, however, contain lists of actors and production staff. Should I merge and then do an info box? Merge and link to IMDb? Forget about the merge? Also, if you have any suggestions on article improvement, they would be appreciated.

Thanks! Maniacmagee (talk) 15:10, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Such issues tend to produce divided opinion - so here is mine. I would focus the novel article on the novel. i.e. leave the TV movie out or just make general references. The article is looking quite good currently however if you include more than the summary details of the TV adaptation then you risk de-focusing the article. I would try and improve the film article as a separate project (the plot summary is different - as they nearly always are with adaptations.) :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 16:19, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

R. K. Narayan

I just saw your edits across a few different R. K. Narayan pages, so wondering if you were a reader of his? I'm trying to get R. K. Narayan to GA/FA, so hoping you can take a look at the page and provide some feedback? I still have two sections incomplete - The later years and Legacy/Criticism, but the article has changed a lot over the past month. If you can provide some feedback and/or edit, that'd be great. At present, I know that the flow within passages has to be smoothed out so that it doesn't read like disjointed sentences, a result of not being able to use single sources. cheers. -SpacemanSpiffCalvinHobbes 22:46, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi my name is Ilya Gazman, I developed new technology which I am selling now and I wont to post an article speaking about my invention. I am new to Wikipedia and would like you to help me with the article.

The Black Arrow's "low" rating

Dear Kevinalewis: I have changed the "low" rating given to The Black Arrow: A Tale of the Two Roses on its talk page to "mid." I believe that if they are going to rate Catriona "mid" level, they ought to rate The Black Arrow the same, since The Black Arrow is ostensibly more important and well known than that virtually unknown sequel to Kidnapped that I have here printed as David Balfour. I would like to persue this further if it is believed that the rating should be degraded again to "low."--Drboisclair (talk) 22:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:GabrielGarciaMarquez NoOneWritesToTheColonel.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:41, 16 September 2009 (UTC). Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Jdc TheThreeCoffins.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Jdc TheThreeCoffins.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 04:16, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
