Comment
editHello David
Do have time, please, to have a look at the material that I now have in my Sandbox? I hope that I am respecting the talk page guidelines with this question.
I still need to check and edit the material, but it is pretty much a complete first draft. Any guidance you could offer, specifically with respect to my finishing off the work to a Wikipedia approved standard with a view to asking for it to be uploaded, would be most welcome.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Best regards

ref failure
editI was trying to fix your second ref (not a journal) but failed to find a proper format. Apologies. David notMD (talk) 12:55, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello David.
- Thank you so much. I have used and donated to Wikipedia over a number of years, but preparing and submitting content is completely new for me so your help is most welcome. I have a range of material that I am sorting out for use in citations, so I will come back to this one in due course.
- I have everything drafted up as a three page Word Document, but I seem to be developing and editing the material in sandbox at a snail's pace. So there is unlikely to be any rapid progress, but I am determined to complete the task at some stage!
- Thanks again for your kind interest and for sharing your time and experience with me.

- Hello again David
- I think I have fixed this problem with a different format and a source of material provided to me by one of the archivists at Cambridge University. Slow progress!
- I like your 'notMD'. My Dad weathered endless misunderstandings of how anyone could be a doctor of something other than medicine!
- Onward! Thanks again.

- Hello David
- With my most recent editing and expansion of my sandbox content, I have hit a new problem. When trying to save/publish the updated page, the following error message is displayed: No stashed content found for 1229701898/cf8eb461-2d45-11ef-a551-ad893da6c86a
- Are you able to help me with this, please?

References
editSee Help:Referencing for beginners on how to format references. David notMD (talk) 16:51, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, David. I will work on this.

Clean-up
editI removed all the bolding, bigs, smalls, other formatting errors, and deleted content not appropriate. I put a submit template at the top. When you believe the draft is ready, submit it. There is always a backlog of drafts at AfC and the system is not a queue, so it can be days, weeks, or sadly, months, before a review responds. If Declined, the reviewer will give reasons. Address those and resubmit. Expect a different reviewer, who may have different objections. David notMD (talk) 12:15, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi David - This is massively helpful. Thank you so much for such a. prompt reply and for explaining the process. I will work through everything and get back to you.
- Best regards
- Nigel
- PS What is AfC, please? Kestrel2Zero (talk) 08:03, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello again David - I have now reviewed the changes that you have made. I did a clean up on the text and a couple of citations and links and tried to leave your edits untouched. Thank you again so much for your inout and guidance with this task.
- I am submitting the draft today (October 31, 2024) and I have taken good note of your comments with respect to timeline and rejections. As and when declined, I plan to do as you recommend and address the reasons given and resubmit. Kestrel2Zero (talk) 08:07, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

- Good morning, Johannes
- Thank you so much for taking the time to review my submission. I value your comments tremendously and I am working my way through them!
- Initially I plan to follow the link that you have given me under 'Where to get help" and go through the submission section by section. I hope this seems a sensible approach.
- Please may I apologise of the info box being a jpeg: my fault entirely. Is there a recommended template that I can use please?
- I look forward to hearing from you further as and when convenient for you.
- Finally thank you so much for such a prompt response to my submission. I was concerned about losing momentum during a long wait and you have completely solved that for me.
- Best regards

- Dear Johannes
- As indicated in my earlier message, I am endeavouring to edit my submission and to develop the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article that you mention in your response and to avoid 'puffery' promoting the subject. My first step has been to take the words 'and success' out of the first paragraph. Please can you let me know if I am on the right track.
- I am also concerned to be using the citations in the correct and approved manner. Please could you highlight how I can improve this aspect of my draft?
- I look forward to hearing from you further when convenient. I will then proceed to work on the remainer of the draft.
- Many thanks
- Best regards
- Nigel

- Thanks for flagging up the issue with this image. I created the image by using my iPhone to photograph a hard copy original in a collection of old family photos. Judging by the age that the subject (my father) appears to be (same as the copyright free photo from University of New South Wales, I would estimate the date of the original would be 1951 or earlier. I therefor estimate that the photo from which I took the image uploaded to my Sandbox if at least 70 years old. I would have been five years old at the time (72 years ago) and I have no idea who would have taken the photo. I have tried both Google and TinEye but found no results. Please let me know if you have other resources available to broaden the search.
- Please can you let me know whether or not I can make use of this image? 212.108.134.119 (talk) 11:55, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Shorter
editI cut content that might contribute to the draft being declined again. Content can be true (and even referenced) but not germane to what belongs in an encyclopedia article. David notMD (talk) 16:29, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello David - Understood; thanks again for your expert guidance. I am more than happy to benefit from your experience. - Nigel/Kestrel2Zero Kestrel2Zero (talk) 04:24, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
