Response to your query on my talkpage

edit

There are a number of issues which probably merit mention here in more detail:

  1. As you may be a representative for the company, please be aware of the guidance in WP:COI, which points out, for a number of good reasons, that those with a conflict are strongly discouraged from editing articles on subjects with which they are conflicted.
  2. There are, as you rightly point out, quite a large number of poorly referenced articles on wikipedia, and which are written in the form of PR advertisements rather than a genuine encyclopedia entry for a notable company. Many of these articles have not even gone through the independent review process. I'm sure you'll understand that this in itself isn't a good reason for us to officially accept more of them. The volunteer editors are doing their best to find, identify and delete such articles, but as you can imagine there are quite a large number of companies in the world with marketing representatives busily trying to promote their brand.
  3. As noted in the review notes WP:CORP is the guideline of notability which companies have to evidence to show sufficient notability for an entry in this encyclopedia. The sort of multiple examples of significant coverage in reliable sources exclude such things as press release/press pack coverage in the business press, but would include such things as detailed independent discussion of the companies contribution to the industry in a broadsheet national newspaper.
  4. Leaving aside the issue of referencing and notability, your article does not prima facie present a strong case for why this company of 35 employees is more notable to the general reader than any other similar software development company. In particular the proud discussion of major clients brings to mind the style of an advert, which isn't really relevant to the companies notability.

I hope these comments make sense, and provide some extra clarification regarding my review. --nonsense ferret 13:23, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

As an additional aside, I have looked carefully at the Opti-time example you provided, and it has been tagged as not notable for a year, and since I cannot find significant coverage, I have now nominated that article for deletion. --nonsense ferret 13:49, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
