Speedy deletion nomination of Oluwafunmilayo Oni

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Oluwafunmilayo Oni requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Viztor (talk) 06:05, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bola Olalowo

The article Bola Olalowo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not yet notable--never elected to office

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Eric Champagne

Hi ! I just received your message about my article. What is the process - others will comment, and vote, and the article will be suppressed or kept ? I'm new to this... I'd also comment ;) I can confirm the sources are independant and credible : major symphony orchestra in Montreal, the association of composers of Canada (CMC), a public provincial institute (CQM), etc. Also note that this is a translation of a page that exists in French, which I wrote months ago, I just needed help to review my english version. Thanks !

This has been fixed i see, let me know if you need more help. Kaizenify (talk) 08:55, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Kaizenify, Thank your for your review and approval of article Ram Chandra (Babuji) and for the encouragement given. Xiantec (talk) 18:54, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Temmie Ovwasa moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Temmie Ovwasa, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Welcoming New Volunteers

Note that the dates observed in bold under the underlined title of message help reflect and clarify the most current & oldest messages with the most current being at the top and the oldest being at the bottom.

Welcoming New Volunteers (25/06/2021)

  • We hereby want to officially welcome new volunteers who have recently joined the collaborative project and have volunteered to work in WP:NIGERIA. The arrival of new volunteers is often associated with the confusion of “what to do” on their part, it is then behoove of us to treat them with care, guide them, and protect them from the general pitfalls a new editor would most usually fall into. We are also admonished to clean up after them if they err and encourage them, most especially when they are genuine editors with potential to do good work not just for us, but for the community as a whole. Once more, we hereby thank all new editors who have volunteered to work here and hope they enjoy their stay here.

Requests for uncreated articles (24/1/2020)

  • Greetings & a great weekend to you all. It would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016. I believe this would be pivotal to the encyclopedia as a whole & a means to get editors who have gone inactive to revive their Wikipedia activities.

Our To-Do List

Your thoughts on this

What’s is your opinion about undisclosed paid editing? and also what are your thoughts on old users creating a new account to feign as though they were a NEWBIE? I need your thoughts on this? I would have asked Darreg or Versace1608 but both have been inactive for a while now, so you in your honest opinion think about the aforementioned questions / scenarios? Celestina007 (talk) 23:33, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello Celestina007 and thank you for reaching out… As regard UPE: this is something I am very critical of and as someone that continuously trains on contributing to Wikipedia and daily recruits new Nigerian editors as part of my role with the Wikimedia Nigeria Usergroup; I always echoed it and it’s a no-no by all means as it adversely defeat the major pillars of what Wikipedia should be. But while there is a lot of fights against UPE; I have also seen editors getting burnt in the process (both new & old) unjustly/innocently which sometimes reduces morales and for me that should be the boarderline. As the other part of the question: I think the answer won’t be straight forward as it depends on the nature of them creating new accounts and if the new account was disclosed or being used for vandalism purpose as some might prefer new account rather than name-changing; but since you used the word “feign” then means the idea is to vandalize the project or engage in UPE that won’t put so much attention on them and as such they should be nabbed if confirmed beyond intuition as I have also seen clear case of experienced editors who created new accounts (ofcourse following the right disclosure process) and started editing (positive) with this new ones because their old accounts has too many attentions or just for the sake of starting over or editing specific Wikipedia topics; so no definite answer really for this. In all of these; I want to commend you for all you do here as you do a very fantastic job and I understand that some times it might be demanding as this is only voluntarily but please don’t hit too hard as it create more bad than good in the long run for the project. I am in touch with lot of other experienced editors from Nigeria (including Darreg who I just had long hours discussion with) on the need to fight UPE, mentoring new editors, having more editors participating in discussions and why old experienced editors suddenly are no longer contributing vis-à-vis soon there will be more positive concerted efforts as we are all aiming on one goal: to make Nigeria Wikipedia space safer, larger and quality-driven. Thanks and best regards Kaizenify (talk)
