Annie Murphy

edit

You are edit-warring at Annie Murphy in order to add edits that run afoul of various Wikipedia guidelines, including Manual of Style. Per the protocol at WP:BRD, once you were reverted the first time, you are to take your concerns to the article talk page and try to reach consensus with fellow editors. If you continue to edit-war, an admin will be asked to block you from editing. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:37, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I see you are continuing to edit-war, by unilaterally removed an expand-section tag and re-adding wordiness to a passage. You've had two reverts, and are at the cusp of violating WP:3RR, which will lead to an automatic block. On a smaller note, it is protocol to leave edit summaries describing your edits.
I understand you are a new editor. That is no excuse for edit-warring and not communicating.--Tenebrae (talk) 21:58, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
And I see you added fannish WP:GOSSIP at Ariana Grande, in direct contradiction to the embedded note there summarizing talk-page WP:CONSENSUS. You are refusing to communicate and appear to be showing yourself as an non-constructive editor. Please learn at least the 5 Pillars of Wikipedia. And if you need help, ask. I'd be happy to help you.--Tenebrae (talk) 22:09, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am not war-editing. There is not need for an ‘expand section’ due to the fact her work/career is limited and thus there is nothing to add. I added ‘of’ for the purpose of better English. I have had this account for 10 years. KTflyer90 (talk) 22:12, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

And part in fact I am a friend of the Ariana, and am aware this is not a ‘source‘ I am able to cite on Wikipedia, I have outsourced from reliable sources. KTflyer90 (talk) 22:18, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

In relation to Jennifer Robertson, the birth year was already in place, however I appreciate the source is not concrete. Please do not continue to be attacking. I am not purposely misusing sources and Wikipedia. KTflyer90 (talk) 22:22, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please can you explain why the ‘expand section’ is required? I will not attempt to remove but I‘ve expanded to the and there is more often than not much smaller sections on articles. Please can you also explain why the correction of the wording is not allowed? KTflyer90 (talk) 22:34, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

The expand section is there because, as you can see from numerous other actor articles on Wikipedia, there is generally more background detail where necessary, illuminating / explanatory quotes from the subject, etc.
Yes, you were edit-warring. When you revert again once your edits have been reverted, that is the definition of edit-warring.
And I'm assuming your ran across an "edit conflict" screen, but you made an edit that reintroduced WP:MOS errors and removed archive links. That is not constructive and in fact is aggressive. When you see "edit conflict," copy your edits to a text file on your computer, leave the edit screen, and then go back to the article's fresh edit screen.
You made eight edits in 2010, and no more until May 2020. And I note you made edits that were evidently so egregious that admins on July 9 had to wipe historical access to those edits. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:07, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have not come across the “edit conflict” page before and I was not purposely "edit-warring" so am unsure that it qualifies as so. Ok for you to block me from editing if you deem necessary. KTflyer90 (talk) 23:19, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I’m cannot confirm or recall edits made in July 9th, as I’m unable to view them now KTflyer90 (talk) 23:24, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

The edits on the 9th are possibly due to copyright issues. Which I am now fully clued up on, but as I stated, if you feel the need to block me then I understand. KTflyer90 (talk) 23:30, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am not an admin and cannot block you. If problematic edits continue, I can report them to an admin. That is a last step and certainly not one I or any responsible editor would take lightly. As I mentioned, experienced Wikipedia editors are generally glad to help those with less experience, and I reiterate that if would like help or just to have questions answered, I would be happy to do so.--Tenebrae (talk) 23:36, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I mean to request to block or whatever the steps are you need to take/think you need to. I feel there is no need to be so hostile. As you have said, I have few edits, and am not experienced in citing. I have stated that I have not intentionally misused Wikipedia. I have got more of a handle on things having created a draft Ezra McCandless page for approval/disapproval over the past few days. KTflyer90 (talk) 23:52, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Was not aware the source for David Ferrer were not allowed/reliable. Previously when I have cited an unreliable source, there has been a notification telling me so - therefore I haven’t used it. Does that not happen for all unreliable sources? KTflyer90 (talk) 20:21, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also - there seemed to be a lot of information that was already there, uncited, but does not get removed, e.g. birth date. Is that purely because no one else has picked up on this? KTflyer90 (talk) 20:26, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

That's exactly so — good eye. I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia removing uncited personal-life claims.
I understand the issue of inexperience; that's why I offered to help, and I'm being genuine. Let me suggest WP:BLP, which stresses that we cannot make uncited personal-life claims. WP:UGC gives guidance on not using wikia or other user-generated sources such as IMDb. And WP:SPS gives guidance on non-journalistic self-published sources, such as ethnicelebs or thefamouspeople.
And while I've already thanked you, I want to compliment you on your Annie Murphy marriage cites — that's exactly right, and I imagine it took a lot of research going back over Instagram posts. I think that shows the makings of a good editor. I'm here if you need. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:53, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I’ll have a read of those. Going forward I’ll ensure to not cite any types of sources of that nature. I’m starting to understand the importance of it all, and the depth. Thanks again KTflyer90 (talk) 00:01, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
