editI am confused about your edit on Labbacallee wedge tomb. Why did you add "Category:Townlands of County Cork" to an article about a wedge tomb??? The Banner talk 14:44, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- The category is in reference to the townland of Labbacallee where the tomb is located. As the townland has no page of it's own and the wedge tomb is the only thing of note in it, I used the page for the tomb to add Labbacallee to the Category:Townlands of County Cork. KINGHB190 (talk) 14:51, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Not very logical IMHO. But okay. There are no (or not many) townlands with their own article. Maybe a parish (civil or RC) is a better idea. The Banner talk 15:46, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I will admit that not many townlands have their own pages but since there is a category for townlands in Cork, I feel they should get some representation. KINGHB190 (talk) 15:48, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- There is also Category:Civil parishes of County Cork where Glanworth is part off. The Banner talk 16:14, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes but Labbacallee is a rural townland of Glanworth and so should be included in the list of townlands. KINGHB190 (talk) 16:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Tagishsimon (talk) 01:00, 25 September 2023 (UTC)"Fermoy hinterlands"
editHi. A couple of notes on the newly created Category:Fermoy Hinterlands:
- WP:CATNAME. The relevant guideline expects that category names/titles use sentence case. As "hinterland" is not a proper noun (or a title or similar), it should not be capitalised.
- WP:CATV. Membership of categories should be verifiable. In many cases the categorisation you have applied appears (absent any explanation or referencing) to be arbitrary and based on your own opinion. The Watergrasshill article, for example, makes NO MENTION of Fermoy (and is effectively as close to Cork city as it is to Fermoy). In what sense is it a "hinterland" to Fermoy? And the Kilmallock article, which also makes no mention of Fermoy and is even further away still (40km or more) in a completely different county (significantly closer to Limerick City than Fermoy), is in Fermoy's "hinterland" in what sense? And based on what sources? And, in terms of Mitchelstown (a relatively large town in its own right), what verifiable sources are we relying upon for categorising as a "subset" of Fermoy? Or Bartlemy or Kildorrery for that matter? Or, frankly ANY of the members of the proposed category?
- WP:ES. Whether explained with a reference or otherwise, please note that editors are typically expected to explain/justify their changes with an edit summary.
Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 13:16, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, the reason why I list these places as hinterlands of Fermoy is that they are mentioned as such on the Government of Ireland website (gov.ie). I would have added citations to show this but as far as I am aware you cannot add citations to categories? KINGHB190 (talk) 13:42, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- "Areas covered
- The areas that this office provides services for are: Fermoy town and hinterlands (Watergrasshill, Rathcormac, Mitchelstown, Kilworth, Glanworth, Kildorrery, Conna, Ballynoe, Araglen, Kilmallock, Castlelyons, Ballyhooly and Glenville)." KINGHB190 (talk) 13:51, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Are you talking about this webpage? A single page related to a branch office of the Department of Social Protection (DSP)? That's what we're relying upon for classifying Kilmallock (a town of 1,700 people which is >40km away in a different county) to be within the "hinterland" of Fermoy? Perhaps, absent there being a branch office of the DSP in Charleville or Adare or someplace closer, the Fermoy DSP office considers Kilmallock to be in its "hinterland". But the classification and logistics of DSP branch offices (and whether and where people have to "sign on") is, frankly, a little weak for the classification being applied here. (The DSP is not a local authority for planning or other purposes for example. Absent other more general sources, classifying Kilmallock as being in the "hinterland" of Fermoy, I really don't think that the DSP's use of the term (for their own purposes) "travels" as far as you're pushing it...) Guliolopez (talk) 14:04, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- A working area of the DSP is not the same as the hinterland of a town. Why do you not use this source: Townlands in the Civil Parish of Fermoy, Co. Cork? The Banner talk 14:36, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi. I note that a profile, with a very similar username to yours, re-added the (queried) category to the Watergrasshill article. Please note that related policies cover coordinating with people outside of Wikipedia. And such coordination, in a manner which is counter to consensus-based editing, is not in keeping with policy. Also note that I've opened a thread at Category talk:Fermoy Hinterlands Guliolopez (talk) 13:49, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

- You can have pages in your own userspace, but not in other people's userspace. Or at least not without their agreement. Because of the copyright implications, we take usernames very seriously. Even if an account has been dormant for 18 years and doesn't have many edits on this wiki (and I haven't checked whether that account has edits on other wikis). So usurping another account to be your username is a big deal but there is a process and sometimes it can be done. But not to create an account that you don't want to use. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message
editHello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Hi. I don't know what you (two?) are at, but editors with an acknowledged connection would ideally *not* be accepting your own or each other's submissions via the WP:AFCR process. Ideally unconnected and "impartial" editors should review new AfC submissions. If interested in getting involved, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation#How_to_get_involved. editA couple things.
First, per WP:MOVEREDIRECT you should avoid moving pages that are already redirects.
Second Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael De Santa closed as redirect, based on [1] the problems identified have not been addressed. If you ever find sourcing that fixes the problem, in other words three WP:GNG sources, then add the material to Draft:Michael De Santa directly as there is no need to delete the page first. However if you just submit an unsourced page full of plot description as you just did it will simply be declined and waste everyone's time. Content like that is not suited for a standalone Wikipedia page, but sometimes can be incorporated within an article on a broader topic, if sourced. You may consider instead creating a page at fandom or some other alternative outlet.
Regardless, edit-warring against an WP:AFD consensus is prohibited.
Please edit in compliance with policies and guidelines going forward, thank you. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:7DCC:BBFD:FADA:4719 (talk) 21:34, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I did not intend to edit-war and was unaware of WP:AFD consensus. I do however feel that if sourced properly a standalone article could be created for Michael De Santa. I am aware that I submitted an unsourced page but that is because it started off as a redirect and I could not move it to a draft. I will not edit-war any further. ☘️ King ᚺᛒ ☘️ Talk, Guestbook 21:38, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
